Chapter 7 - THE TALE OF TWO

It wasn't long before the two grew used to hanging around the guild and as they grew older, they came to officially join the guild and become rather powerful adventurers in their own right, and although it could be said that given the chance, they were already S class adventurers.

In a forest quite a distance from the city nicknamed by the locals as the wailing forest, a silver-haired girl could be seen gently cleaning the blood from her blade as she had slight scratches on her clothes. "The monsters here are quite troublesome". A small goblin-like creature lunged at her but was just as quickly bashed to the side by what seemed to be a metal object, this object had lodged itself in the trunk of a tree and it seemed to be nothing more than a black blade that looked so blunt it should have been impossible to accomplish such a feat.

"I hate this place". A boy with the same hair colour who seemed younger than the girl and seemed to be her sibling sat on a rock as he tore into some bread with his other hand. "Want, some?"

"You hate everywhere". Sheathing her blade, she started to increase the distance between the two of them without even bothering to look at his face "we're wasting time here, we've met our quota you know the guild master gets worried if we're late". The boy just sighed, slowly standing up from the rock

"He acts like an old woman sometimes". He complained

"With an idiot like you going on missions I'd be worried too".

"What?". He was about to say more when they heard a roar That shook the entire area and the sound of footsteps. "This place actually produced an elder troll".

It was a monster that seemed to be at least 12 feet with a bulky frame along with three Horns that made it look like it wore a white crown on its head. Much like a member of the giant race to they walked on two legs and had human-like features like fingers, they were also quite intelligent, although aggressive they were cable of speech unlike their counterparts such as the troll and ogre. This would often be a good sign as it meant communication was possible, at least if they spoke human tongue. Either by choice or for other reasons such as being mute or simply never learning the language trolls refused to speak like humans did. Seeing such a thing was very rare, to the point of it being impossible

The massive creature poked it's head out from behind the trees and turned its gaze towards the two humans below it, from the looks of it this was quite an old troll and it had quite a number of wounds, which was a further testament to its age as these were creatures that could regrow entire limbs as long as their brain wasn't damaged, meaning they could even stick their heads back if need be. "Humans".

"It spoke?" The pair were surprised at the creature staring at them as its expression became solemn as it looked between the two who had their weapons drawn.

"No fighting". The creature said again as it raised one of its fingers to point at the pair before pointing towards the ground "Drop".

"Abel put your weapon away". Abel looked at his sister like she was crazy but ultimately listened to her and put his sword away. "What are you doing here".

"Old, want rest smell blood, come see". It made sense that if an elder troll was here, they would have smelt the blood, but to no longer want combat meant this elder troll was quite close to dying, either that or it was naturally a pacifist with the latter being unlikely. "leaving". It had satisfied its curiosity and was no longer interested in the two.

"Wait, the beasts are coming a bit close to the town, can you do something?". It was a long shot but something she wanted to try out no matter what, if what she had in mind was right then this creature would hear them out.

"I will stop monsters". The creature them walked a few steps into the forest and it went quiet for a minute and the two gave themselves a short glance, which eventually devolved into staring

"That's it? I thought we'd have to fight an elder troll or something haha".

"It's best if we don't think like that, we may be stronger than an elder troll but it never hurts to be careful". He just waved her off as they headed back, they headed to the inn to take a rest before they would be on their way home, the place they currently were was a merchant town that was part of the continents western territory, with the world having 4 major continents and the rest being uncharted land.

With that each continent is then divided into North, south, east and west and right now they were in the west which was known more for commerce and business along with having the most bandits, though anyone could guess that. The North, South and East have their specialities but it wasn't all that special, at least not when one considered the spirit continent of APOLLIOS which was known to be home to things like elves dwarfs and the like. They were a more nature-oriented continent and while they did trade and the rest as the others did they stuck more to their roots, which is probably good for them, since it's a continent with vast landmass and has far more monsters than any other continent.

Then there's Glacio which is called the magic continent, the land is so full of mana that even the crops they grew there contained an unusual amount of mana in them, normally with so much mana in the atmosphere it was bound to be dangerous, but surprisingly it doesn't have any large effects, at least for humans, the more magic based races like elves and fairies might have a problem going into the deeper regions of the continent at least not without preparation. That continent has a mix of all races and there's not much problems.

Then last but not least we have Mars, the demon continent although for the most part demons were not considered monsters they had far more branches than any other race with some being no better than low-level monsters and some so large they made the elder-troll small and the there were some quite a lot that looked just like humans, with the exception of horns or silver eyes, teeth or even something difficult to tell like blood colour although, the continents were in relative peace, as there were scuffles here and there but nothing like a continental war since everyone was trying to just get by.

"I've told you that weird interracial fetish of yours is weird were did you even pick that up from?". Abel was staring at one of the waitresses who happened to be a dark-elf.

"Isn't that hypocritical? We're demigods our dad was a human remember? Don't be racist it's not the fucking dark ages you grandma". As noisy as the place was one could almost hear her blood pressure rise as the veins on her head started to show and Abel gave a quick look around again. "I don't think there's anything wrong with appreciating something that's beautiful".

"Flattery will get you nowhere brother". She stated as she rolled her eyes

"Here's your order". Abel stared at the food and drink Infront of him curiously.

"I didn't order anything though". He spoke quizzically wondering if there was a mistake.

"It's on the house, special courtesy of the elf lady over there". The woman waved at him before blowing him a small kiss as he picked up the cup and took a large gulp.

"What did you say about flattery sister?".
