Yue Zhe had turned into an underground lizard, turning systems left and right until he found the real culprit. Who knew? It was the stupid little Princess that never allowed him to live peacefully. Even when he left the Gu mansions and cut off all ties, she couldn't accept that he was breathing somewhere in this world and she may end up breathing the same air.
Therefore, it was time to settle accounts.
Yue Zhe put all his 250 IQ level into creating a madness disease where people became hysterical thinking that other human beings were out to harm them so they fought to kill in order to protect themselves.
But the dish that was served to the Gu family and servants especially Gu Yuan, was the worst of all.
The only two survivors of the madness disease were Gu Yuan and Gu Yue Zhe. Gu Yue Zhe because he was immune to the disease and the infected ones would not attack him. He injected himself with a pheromone that would temporarily calm the madness. Gu Yuan was also made immune but without the pheromone.
She was always pushed into circumstances where she would have to kill, have her leg bitten off, a knife plunged into her body. And just when she was only the verge of death, Gu Yue Zhe would heal her wounds just enough to keep her conscious then push her into a field of infected people. When he felt like it, he would punish her personally.
Sometimes, Gu Yuan would sleep for two hours in a week. She spent days getting even more paranoid than before. She lacked a lot of essential body parts but was somehow still breathing. And all that time, Gu Yue Zhe watched her with a wide smile.
Gu Yuan felt her skin crawl at the memory of the original owner.
Yue Zhe, you destroyed a whole world. Is it because someone finally showed you kindness or because you wanted to revenge?
Gu Yuan had gone through her options to solve the case and so far, killing Yue Zhe when she has the chance seemed like best option. But before she can do that, she'll have to first find out how far he is with his plan and how she can stop it.
If she can find when he started in the disease thing, she will stop it at the roots. She wouldn't want to kill the only person that has the cure.
At the moment, killing all contact between Chen Kun and Yue Zhe was the only option. If he didn't know kindness, he wouldn't have a motive.
But when she thought about it: if he didn't know kindness, wouldn't he just wipe out the whole world out of the blue? There wouldn't be a Chen Kun to help Gu Yuan know when the end of the world is approaching.
Gu Yuan put her thought process aside when the driver opened the door. The servants had already been informed about the injury so the butler and one of her personal maid servants carefully lifted her onto an electronic wheel chair. Not that she couldn't walk, but she was the pampered Miss of the Gu estates. Besides, the servants pay was really good, they wouldn't spare energy to shower Miss Gu with all the love and care.
Father Gu was on another business expedition but he made sure to video call as soon as Gu Yuan got back. He spoke to her with a sugarcoated milky voice asking her how her day has been and how she got that 'horrendous' injury.
Gu Yuan was almost in tears, "Daddy, it's that wretched boy, Yue Zhe. He is the one who did this to me. He is always so jealous of me. I don't even understand why he would molest me like this."
"Don't cry sweets," the old man coaxed, "Dad will buy you many gifts. There are many exotic things I've already got for you."
"Really?" Gu Yuan could not hide her excitement. Despite not being the original, their love for gifts was more or less the same.
"Yeah yeah," Father Gu nodded, "How can I forget my little Princess. Now just wait for me to come back home." He smiled happily. His little girl is still the same, one small gift and she forgets all about her worries. Father Gu couldn't help but give himself a hearty pat on the chest. Surely, he is a good father.
Gu Yuan didn't go to school the following day because of her 'sick' leg. That was one of the peaceful days Yue Zhe rarely got. He floated on the school compound unnoticed. And the five girls didn't bother to give him so much as a side glance.
But who knew that when he got back to the Gu mansion, he would find that his one meal a day has been halved and the hardship of his chores had increased by far.
The butler told him that it was a punishment for threatening Miss Gu's life and it would end as soon as her leg healed. But he knew better. His current leaving conditions were all punishments that were supposed to end as soon as something with Gu Yuan got better, yet it had been four years now.
He took one meal a day of which it wasn't complete. It was part of what the servants ate, which wasn't bad but was far below that of the Gu family. Even the servants got three meals a day with snacks in between.
Yue Zhe never got any new clothes unless he bought them himself. Most of his clothes consisted of those that he entered the Gu house with. Some of which were torn by Gu Yuan in her anger.
He slept in a small shed at the edge of the gated estate. Those at the mansion can only see it if they tried to. The shed used to be for the gardening materials, now those materials were moved to a better, drier place.
The only thing he stayed for, was the education. Soon. Soon he would serve the Gu family with the same favor they bestowed him.
On a Saturday morning, Yue Zhe got up at 4:15 am, cleaned his room and belongings. Then he went on to vacuum the carpets, dust the painting and antiques. Cleaned the small sized aquarium. Scrubbed the excess bathrooms in the mansion, watched the cars. He did all these along with the servants.
At about 8:47 am he was tagging a bag of cut hedges to the bin when, at a distance, he saw dear Miss Gu walking out onto the balcony of her room. She stretched out in her bright pink silk rob, preparing for some morning yoga and to enjoy the sun.
He was glad he wasn't close by, otherwise, the bag in his hand would end up on her face. Anyway, he had to go to work soon.
"Now that we are done with the warm up, let's start with the baby position," the online instructor called and Gu Yuan followed.
She stretched her legs and twisted her hands.
"Maintain this position for two minutes and then we will switch," the instructor called again.
Gu Yuan remained still. She had sent servants to secretly observe Yue Zhe for more than a month to make sure he 'wasn't looking for another way to harm her'. All she found was that he has multiple small jobs. None of them was related to the evil scientist that would soon destroy the world. He didn't have any kind of small lab or research in his room. Even when he went to the Internet cafe, he never searched for ways to eminently destroy the world with disease.
Which means, it all probably started with Chen Kun.
Chen Kun, Gu Yuan had discovered, was in a nearby school. Her parents had some wealth but in comparison with the Gu family, it was pebbles. She crosses paths with Bai Lan several times because they live in the same neighborhood.
She normally volunteers at a homeless shelter. Gu Yuan thinks that where she met up with Yue Zhe. Yue Zhe started visiting homeless shelters half a month ago. He helped with the work and in turn got a satisfactory meal.
Although the shelter they go to are different, they are under the same organization. Sooner or later, Yue Zhe will meet the kind and loving Chen Kun.
The course of the world can't be changed completely. Whether it's sooner or later, Gu Yuan felt that they would meet. But it's better to delay it until she is sure that Yue Zhe hasn't started on his plan and kill him silently.
So on a bright Saturday mid morning, Gu Yuan put on a dark green cap with a dark green blouse belonging to the volunteer group. She accompanied them with black high-waist jeans and sandals. That day, she set foot in a homeless shelter.
