Chapter 65 - Chapter 64: Demi-Human

Inside the marketplace of the capital of Ashendar kingdom, at one of the clothes shop in the marketplace.

Roshan came out from the dressing room that was being covered with a red mantle, wearing the dark blue adventurer's robe Rudwick gave on him. The robe was extending over to the upper part of his legs, the buttons were open revealing his black T-shirt inside. Along with brown jeans and brown leather shoes.

"Look at that, you look like an adventurer now," Levy commented while assessing his outfits.

Roshan nodded and faced the receptionist standing beside him. "I'll take this."

"All of it will be 5,000 Sierra."

After paying for the clothes they went out to the clothes shop. While walking, Roshan was still carrying the brown tunic and pants he got from Amaryllis.

Levy led the way towards one of the food stalls. There were a lot of people gathered in the stalls.

"The barbeque here is the best, wait for me here and I'll go grab some." Levy went inside the crowd of customers.

Roshan nodded, however, not even long, his gaze shifted up to the second floor of one of the establishments a few distances away from them, hidden from the eyes of the public.

A young girl was lying on the ground while an old woman was kicking her violently. She curled her body to cover her face and stomach and did not make an effort to fight back.

"Useless slave! I really regret that I bought you! A very simple thing and you can't accomplish?" The old woman shouted using a threatening voice.

The woman continued her violent act while the other slave wearing the same metal neck collar with a red orb at the center were just huddling in the corner and could not do anything but watch.

"Here's the food, Roshy."

Roshan did not answer, rather his gaze shifted to the young boy at the shop in front of them wearing the same metal collar while helping the owner of the barbecue stall.

"Roshy?" Levy's eyes traveled towards the direction Roshan was looking. "Don't look to the Demon slave too much, you will get unwanted attention," Levy whispered.

"Demon? What do you mean? No matter how I look at it, it is human."

[Lesser Demon level 3.]

Some sharp eyes of the people around him darted on him.

"Maybe we should go, Roshy."

Levy walked away from the stall and Roshan followed her.

"What's the difference?"

They reached the part of the marketplace where there were only a few people around.

Levy stopped and faced him. "You can identify a Demon by checking their aura using your Mana sensory, unlike us humans who have a blue aura, Demons has black. Why? Are you bothered seeing a demon slave?"

"No, I'm just curious what's the difference between humans and Demons."

"Ah." Levy slowly nodded. "Demon slavery has something to do with the current war happening between the kingdom of Ashendar and the demon race. They are some syndicates who are abducting some Demons and selling them here as slaves. The kingdom officials are not endorsing it, but they're doing nothing to make it stop and purposefully overlooking this issue."

"I see."

"All we can do is to ignore them or else it will cause a huge problem for us. People of this kingdom don't like it when someone questioning it."

Roshan walked past her. "I have no reason to care about them anyway."

"Wait, Roshy!"

Roshan walked inside his room and lay down on his bed. He removed his wooden mask and put it beside him. His eyes dwelled at the ceiling as he unleashed a huge sigh.

"100,000 Sierra?" He raised the money pouch he was holding. "I already have this much but I still don't know what to do with this."

He put the pouch down and stood up in front of the window and watch the scenery of the afternoon, they were some carriages and pedestrians crossing in front of the establishment, his eyes lingered on some of them as they passed.

"I'm already living in this place for a few days, but I still don't know lots of things about this kingdom. What should I do now?"

His eyes shifted to the largest structure located at the very center of the kingdom, the castle of Ashendar. The dark silhouette of the peak of the castle was barely visible from his location.

His lips rose. "Getting the kingdom's favor won't be a bad idea to start with. It needs proper planning to achieve, but it's doable."

His smile immediately faded away as the sound of knocking on his door sounded inside his room.

He picked up his mask and skipped towards the door and looked up to the person standing in front of the door.

"How many people of the guild know that I'm living here?"

Derus smiled as he leaned his hand on top of the door. "I must say most of us. All the beginners of the guild once lived here, so it's common knowledge. You already have the money, why not transfer into a better inn?"

"I'm planning to."

"Good. Ah, anyway, we have a meeting to the guildhall tonight, you need to be in there."

"Meeting? I see, for what?"

Derus shrugged. "Don't know. I don't have the details yet. But from what I heard, it's a huge mission. They need the cooperation of the high-ranked adventurers."

"I don't think I'm appropriate to join the meeting, I'm still a class C rank and a newbie to be exact."

Derus chuckled. "Look at this humble teenie tiny rodent. The uniform looks good on you, how about you show it off in the meeting, ha?" Derus walked towards the staircase. "We will be waiting for you there. The rewards of this kind of quest are quite handsome, so I will never miss out if I were you."

Roshan just stared at him as Derus went downstairs. He walked back inside and picked up his identification card with his rank lying on the bed.

He paused and gazed upon it and unleashed a sigh.

"My official quest after getting promoted to class C. Then, let's see what it is."
