The capital of the kingdom of Ashendar, the outer and inner part of the kingdom was being separated by a huge stone wall protecting the rich infrastructures and citizens inside. On top of the wall, armored knights were stationed in every direction to guard the place.
From outside, the largest infrastructure located at the very center of the kingdom was could be seen. The castle of Ashendar, the very core of the country.
"We're here," Levy announced as the carriage stopped at one of the gates of the kingdom. "You are new here, so you need to register on the guard to get a temporary pass."
Levy jumped down and went to the guards to talk to them.
Roshan nodded and jumped out from the carriage to follow her.
10 knights were stationed at the entrance, all of them were wearing a full iron set of armors. One of the knights talking to Levy directed his gaze on him.
"Who is the new guy, Levy?"
"I've met him on my way here, I just thought I tagged him along with me."
The knight nodded and walked inside the door at the wall.
Roshan moved toward them. "Is there a problem?"
Levy shook her head. "No, you just need to fill up some form, and pay 500 Sierra for the registration fee." Levy raised one of her eyebrows. "Do you have 500 Sierra? If you want I can-"
"I have. Don't worry about me."
The guard came out with the form and gave it to him. After a few minutes, the guards finally let them in.
Their carriage passed through the huge stone wall and reached the capital. An abundance of buildings were could be seen as they traveled, journeying with them were numerous carriages with different shapes and sizes.
People were everywhere, they were wearing intricate and colorful woolen clothing. Using his mana perception he silently gazed upon the scenery.
It took them at least 30 minutes to finally reach their destination. The carriage stopped right in front of a huge dark blue building made out of painted smooth stones. Outside, some people standing at the entrance wearing the same robe Levy was wearing.
"That's the guildhall, go talk to the receptionist and tell her you're going to register. I'll just go return the carriage and sell the parts I don't need for the quest."
Roshan nodded. "I'll be going now." He jumped out of the carriage.
The carriage moved away and left him alone in front of the guildhall. The people outside were looking at him with visible questions in their eyes.
"And here I thought I would only experience being an adventurer in games. Here I am."
He walked towards the currently open wooden gate. He went inside and was greeted by the loud laugh of the people inside. There were wooden long tables scattered around the area, the adventurers were sitting in them while drinking some booze or eating.
At the center, there was a stone staircase leading to the higher floors.
They were occupied doing their things to even notice him. He walked straight where the desk clerk was at the corner of the guildhall. As he walked he passed through the quest board at the wall where the requests were being posted.
A blonde woman wearing white long sleeves, with a red bow tie in her chest was sitting at the desk smiling while waiting for him to arrive.
"Uhm, hi, I want to register as an adventurer."
The desk clerk stood up and hand him the form. "Please fill up this form and come back after."
He took the form and went to the corner to answer it. "It's a good thing I can already write and read their language as if it's natural on me. Horion really made everything easier for me."
[Human language was not the only language downloaded on you. Even the language of other major demi-humans like demons, Elves, and Beastkins.]
He stopped from writing for a second. "Demons? Elves and Beastkins? Woah, they exist in this world? Isn't it great? Maybe after some time, I would meet some of them."
After filling up the form, he came back to the desk clerk. The clerk double-checked the form and put it at the corner of her desk.
"What role are you planning to get?"
"Role?"
"Everyone has an assigned role in this guild to differentiate them and easily identify their abilities and specialties. If you are good at using a sword, you can be a warrior or even a tank. If you are good in a bow, you can be a ranger..."
"Then, I'm a mage."
The desk clerk nodded. "I see. And for the last part."
The desk clerk went inside the compartment in her back and came back holding a crystal ball in her hand. "Put your hand here so we can identify your elemental aptitudes."
For a second he remained silent as he gazed upon the crystal ball. "If I put my hand in that thing, will you be able to see my stats?"
The desk clerk smiled at him. "If you are conscious about your level, don't worry I won't see it. This crystal will only identify your elemental aptitude and nothing else, it's not an appraisal stone. We just need to determine your aptitude so we know what to expect from you."
[Affirmative.]
"I see." Slowly, he put his hand to the crystal ball, and it started to light up.
"You have the aptitude to the elements of fire, thunder, wind, and water. The highest aptitude you have is in your fire magic."
"Does that mean a good thing?"
The clerk nodded. "Yes, the elemental aptitude an average person has is 3 elements, you've got 4 so it means it's good, you have a wide variety of choices as a mage. If you are struggling to choose which elements you are gonna prioritize, your Fire magic is your best choice."
He removed his hand to the crystal. "I see."
The clerk cleared her throat. "Usually, I would suggest new adventurers to focus on 1 elemental skill and put the remaining skill points in defensive skills because you can only get 2 skill points in every level, however, since you are a mage, focusing on two elemental skills is not a bad choice, but keep in mind that by doing it will cost your defensive capabilities."
"There are 6 classes as an indication of your rank in this guild. Class E, D, C, B, A, and S. To get promoted, the guild will never judge you base on your level, it all depends on your accomplishments. Complete a quest on the quest board based on your rank, and get rewarded. The higher your rank, the greater the rewards."
The desk clerk raised the form he filled up and gazed upon it.
"Welcome to the Ashendar Kingdom Adventurer guild. We are looking forward to your great contribution to this guild..."
"Roshan Lightborne."
