Chapter 36 - Chapter 35: Home

At the boundary of the 3rd and top floor. Where the Mythical class monster Catastrophe boa was currently in a deep slumber. A certain ball of light floated around its visible mouth and nose.

[Catastrophe Boa Level 20.]

"Is it breathing? Are you sure it's not dead? No matter how I look at it, it looks dead."

"Well, maybe it has gone weaker due to its old age, not that I know how old it is, but its appearance already giving it off."

He flew few distances from the gigantic monsters.

"Whatever, if it's not going to move, it's good for me."

He activated his Fire magic and a gigantic fireball emerged and lit up the entire place.

"Let's just hope that one strike is enough to kill it."

Due to the gigantic fireball, the temperature rose throughout the area and alerted the sleeping giant.

The Catastrophe Boa slowly moved and revealed its face and darted its gaze to him.

"Oh, you're finally awak-"

He was about to release his Fire magic when a familiar voice resonated inside him as if he was hearing it next to him.

"Wake up."

"You should wake up now, your breakfast is ready."

Slowly he opened his eyes and the giant snake was no longer there, rather, what greeted him was a familiar scene.

The wood ceiling of his room and the gentle touch of morning sunlight.

A familiar face stood beside him and pulled the blanket covering him.

"Your breakfast is ready downstairs, what time did you sleep last night? Didn't I told you to sleep earlier but you still didn't listen."

His eyes widened and trembled. "Mom." Even his voice shivered.

The woman beside him leaned her hand on her waist. "Why?" She sighed. "Go downstairs and eat your breakfast."

He sounded a shivering laugh as if he heard a funny joke. "You know I can't walk."

"Randall? What do you mean you can't?" His mother sat and touched his forehead. "You don't have a fever. What's the problem?" His mother gently rubbed her hand on his black hair and stood up to give him the way.

Even with visible doubt in his face, slowly he stood up and put his feet out of his bed, out of his surprise. He could.

His eyes turned to the computer at the side of his room next to his bed. The entire room was completely different from what he remembered, in his past life, the room was empty with only his bed and computer inside it.

Beside the computer was a bookshelf full of different book, but what caught his attention was a hanging frame at the wall over the computer. 2 gold medal was visible from its glass covering, next to it is a high school graduation picture frame with him at the middle and with his parents next to him.

The person in the picture looks so happy with his big smile while raising the medal he was holding.

"See? Your lack of sleep making you weak. You should stop playing games for a while, you look pale."

His mother stood up and walked towards the door, while he was just watching with widened eyes.

"Let's eat together, I'll be waiting downstairs."

All he could do was nod, and watch his mother while leaving the room.

He raised his two hands leveling his chest while his trembling eyes were staring at it.

"I can stand. There is no pain all over my body when I'm moving."

Slowly, he walked a few steps.

"Is this a dream? It can't be real."

He turned his gaze on the picture frame hanging on the wall. "I... I don't remember attending school."

He pinched his own cheek. "It hurts."

He unleashed a bitter laugh as he remembered the pain of his former memories. "It hurts." Tears came out from his eyes as he slowly walked towards the door. "I can walk."

He brushed the tears all over his face while resisting himself to sob. He walked back and sat on his bed. "I'm... home."

He covered his face with his hand as he released all the emotions that he was feeling at the very moment. The sound of his sob was audible inside his room.

He walked inside the dining area and sat next to his mother. His mother handed him the plate with rice and a sunny-side-up egg.

"What took you so long?"

"I just did something."

His mother narrowed her eyes. "What happened to your eyes? It's swollen."

He released a forced laugh. "Maybe because of lack of sleep."

His mother nodded. "I see, you should stop doing all-nighters playing games, your father told me to talk to you about it. It's not good for your health, Randall."

He was about to put the food he was holding when he stopped. "Dad?"

"Yes, he is worried about you, and speaking of, he didn't make it home last night because of his work, but he promised he will be home tonight. let's watch a movie together."

He dropped his spoon. "He's still with us?"

"Of course, what do you mean?"

He quickly shook his head and picked up his spoon. "Nothing, don't mind me, my head is a little bit hazy. Sounds good, let's watch a movie later, it would be fun."

After eating, he went back to his room and just gaze upon it while standing in front of the door.

"It's the same, but completely different."

He walked towards the bookshelf and gaze at the books inside it.

"It's full of mangas, I remembered having some, but not this much." He pulled one and skimmed on some pages.

"I still can't believe it's real. It's so good to be true. I need more proof, maybe if I hurt myself enough I would wake up. There is only one way to know." He put the book back on the shelf.

He walked towards the wall and punched it with his full strength.

His loud scream echoed throughout the house, his mom rushed and knocked at the door of his room.

"Randall? What's happening?"

"I'm fine, I'm fine." He answered while jumping and holding his hand that he used to punch the wall. "Dammit! Dammit!"

"Are you sure?"

"Yup."

Few seconds after his mother was finally gone.

"It's freaking hurt!"
