Chapter 9 - The Dark-side of the Richard's

+

Zachary Richard's

At first, his life was normal. Sure he kinda had a narcissistic personality, but above all he was a great person.

A good person.

At first, he thought the new addition to his family was going to be super annoying, but as soon as he found out that their new family member was going to be a girl his attitude did a full 180°.

And he had his hopes up for her appearance.

And his hopes did not doubt him.

Sage Jones was ethereal.

She was stunning and he swore that when he first saw her that he drooled. He immediately began hitting on her although she gave him the cold shoulder, that doesn't mean he was giving up.

He found her attitude fierce and 'hard to get'.

And he liked that.

One day his advantages towards Sage were noticed by his Mom, Mrs.Richards. She was furious when she found out that her son was showing sexual desires to their new family member.

To which he argued that they weren't related.

And in a way he was right, but it was so very wrong. Zachary had argued and he stuck with his claim.

But despite his obvious attraction towards her, he was painfully aware of how strange Sage was.

It may sound crazy for someone like him to say, but Sage carries herself as if she knew everything. It's like she knew anything and everything just by how you acted.

"Hey. do you want to die?"

When she asked him this she didn't have any playful tone in her voice. It didn't sound sarcastic nor did it sound like she asked it without thinking, she sounded serious.

And Zachary swore he felt chills dance on his spine. He only shook his head at her, for some reason he couldn't answer her.

He thought that one day Sage might actually kill him.

Recently his younger sister has been hanging around Sage a lot more than when she first came to their home. At first he wanted to warn Milly of what kind of person Sage was.

But he soon recalled how delirious Milly was and her obsession of trying to kill herself. Wasn't she crazy?

Why do you want to kill yourself so badly.

Aren't you happy?

Zachary was starting to think that his family was falling apart. There's something happening in his family that he doesn't know about.

A few days after Julian was searching through websites for 'Black Jack' he received a message that he was too afraid to read himself.

So as soon as he arrived to school the next day he went to find Sage. Just as he thought Sage was sitting on the roof top staring at the sun rise. Before he had even realized he called her name.

"Sage!"

She turned her head towards him with a full smile on her face, like she was genuinely happy to hear him call her name. The sun on her face shown beautifully on her brown skin.

Ah, she was beautiful.

Julian's heart panged in his chest. This is dangerous.

"You sound like you've brought me good news. Shall we see it?" Julian nodded his head and brought his laptop out of his bag. He showed her the unread email he received from an unknown sender.

With no hesitation she opened the email and read it aloud with eager eyes." We have recognized your attempt to find us so please come to Harbor street with your companions. If you do not come by today will we find you ourselves." Sage paused after the message in one breath.

"Sincerely, R."

Julian studied Sage's facial expression. She looked genuinely happy to be reading such a creepy letter. Julian held his shaking hands as he read the letter at the bottom of the message.

"Are you really going there?"

Sage looked at him with wide eyes,"What ever do you mean me? You're coming too, along with Milly. We'll be the three musketeers causing havock across the state just to find a woman that I'm not even sure is still alive."

Julian gulped.

Is this what they call peer pressure?

"Yes of course. I would love to go." Julian was lying straight through his teeth and it seemed like Sage believed it, for now at least.

"Please meet Milly and I there at the time the messages states. I'll be waiting, Julian." She grinned at him proudly and walked away. Soon the doors closed and he was once again alone on the rooftop.

Not even a few minutes later the entrance doors to rooftop clanged open. One man with bright green hair walked in proudly with two people following him from behind.

Julian immediately recognized them. After all bright green hair isn't something the eyes would just forget.

"Yo Julian, there you are! We've been lookin' for you." The green haired man spoke, he was much larger than Julian could ever hope to be and he looked like he could knock you out with one good swing of his fist.

Are they really highschool boys?

Julian's brain had immediately change to fight or flight to which he obviously chose the latter. He quickly stood up and rushed towards the entrance doors.

He couldn't even make it past them as one of the boys that were standing behind the green haired man had grabbed hold of his collar, yanking him back with full force.

Julian gasped for air as he was being choked with his own clothes.

"You heard of Zach right? Man our buddy Zach's been eyeing this girl recently that came to our school, and he wanted us to keep all the gross nutcases away from her. You know, to have her all to himself." The green haired man sighed with an annoyed tone.

"I thought it would just be another annoying job, but then I start seeing you hanging around Zach's girl and you know it just got a whole lot interesting."

Julian desperately clawed at the boy as he was listening to the green haired man speak. He felt like he would loose consciousness at any moment.

"Hey Sharky put em' down." The green haired man spoke and as instructed Sharky let go of Julian by throwing him on the ground.

Julian coughed and gasped as he was taking in the air he was missing. The green haired man smiled in amusement." Hey Juls, are you f**** kidding me right now?"

Julian looked up in fear from the hot concrete he was laying on. "You had one job. Stay outta trouble, but look what you do, you go and mess with Zach's girl."

The green haired man raised his foot and stepped on Julian's trembling hands. Julian groaned in pain while everyone around him was getting a good laugh.

"S-sage i-isn't Z-zachary's girl, s-she's her own p-person." Julian's voice was hoarse and he sounded like he was dying, maybe he was.

The green haired man smiled in amazement. He was watching Julian like some exotic animal he found on the streets.

"Hey Juls, who said you could talk back? Dogs don't talk Juls. Hey Finn teach this guy how a dog should act." The second guy that was standing behind the green haired man walked towards Julian proudly before kicking him in the shin with all his force.

"You better start crawlin'." Finn smiled at Julian who's eyes had darken. Julian felt like he was going to throw up.

Shakily, Julian got on all fours. He began to crawl limping from time to time, but before he could even begin to make distance from them Finn kicked Julian in the stomach again.

Julian fell over.

And this continued until the bell for school starting had rung.

"Aw man, I wanted to play some more." Sharky whined while crossing his arms.

Julian was literally saved by the bell.

"Too bad we didn't get to play for long, just take this as a lesson doggy. Don't go around chewing on other people's thing or you'll get hurt." The green haired man smiled sweetly at him, Julian held in his tears.

"Next time you should stay away from Zach's things. You should know his name by now right? Zach Richard's?" When Julian didn't answer the green haired man grew angry, angry to the point that his nerves twitched.

He quickly made his way over to where Julian lied. He raised his hand and slapped Julian in the face. It had only brought Julian to his senses for a short while to answer him.

"Yes, Jack."

"Good boy." Jack smiled before punching Julian in the face. He then stood and ran his hands through his hair, feeling refreshed.

Without another word the entrance doors slammed closed with a clang and Julian's nightmares were finally gone.

Julian's face had several bruises and cuts and his whole body was in pain. Especially his right side that had been repeatedly stomped on and kicked. His lips were bruised and his eyes were slightly swollen. It hurt to even gasp for air.

Ah, the sun was rising.

The sunrise was beautiful.

Julian lied on the hot concrete watching the sunrise. He glanced at his laptop that had been kicked to a corner. He'll have to check for damages later. Sage needs his laptop after all.

She was counting on him to bring it with him wherever he went. He has to keep his promise. After all Sage was going to help him live. Yes, he was going to live.

He chuckled thinking about it, but regretted it quickly after being reminded of how much pain he was in. Julian's eyes became blurry.

That's right he forgot to cry, he held them in for so long that his eyes started to sting. The tears hurt too, as they ran down his face that was covered in wounds.

Julian lied there crying under the beaming sun. I guess the crying had stolen what little energy he had left, because his mind grew blurry. Before he knew it he had lost consciousness under the big and bright sun.

At least it was under the same sun Sage had gazed upon.

He could peacefully close his eyes at that thought.

Somewhere in the world

Different pairs of sounds and different pairs of feet walking down a hallway.

The sound of two large wooden doors opening swiftly. There were people with all kinds of of features with all kinds of expressions. One man stood in the middle of the room behind a podium. The scene looked like he was about to present a PowerPoint project.

The man smiled.

" Greetings Siblings, it's been a while." The man smiled sinisterly at all his siblings in the room.

One girl rolled her eyes in annoyance," What's with the sudden meeting? We're busy people." The man shot her a distinctive glare before covering it with a smile.

"I'm you all know that there have been a few rats running around lately. I'm certain that my youngest brother would know best?" The man glanced to the side eyeing a taller boy who had his hair covering his eyes.

"Since the rats are related to a certain someone in our family I think the topic should be addressed."

"You better not be wasting our time 'young master', as you already know we are busy people." One younger girl spoke as he swung his feet from hos chair in annoyance.

"Busy people? Oh please what so business does a girl like you even have?" One older male spoke to which the little girl responded with mockery with her tongue.

"Are the rats so important that you would have to call us all here like this? I'm sure you would have this all under control by now right older brother?" An older girl smirked at the 'young master' to which he could only glare in response.

The rats would actually have been no problem at all, but he had made a mistake. He had figured out their identities too soon.

Oh, curse the 'young masters' genuineness.

So now that is why the 'young master' is here, it's because he made a mistake that he's here. It wouldn't make sense otherwise. Why would he willingly choose to meet all his siblings?

"Yes everyone, I believe it is time to discuss the dark origins and 'death' of the 7th Mistress."
