Chapter 11 - The Thumb's Rage

"Sorry to disturb this brother reunion," The cloaked man said in a mocking tone. Uri looked at the figure as he removed his hood and on his chest and the base of his neck was a tattoo that resembled the ones he had seen on his two attackers but larger, "Based on your confused look, Uri'ost, I should introduce myself."

"You are scum," The older Oik man drew a spirit blade and snarled again.

"I am the thumb of the Hand of Reality, Vertigo Orves," He put his arms out and threw off the cloak that acted as his top, "My group has had a run in with you before, young Oik, and with you," Uri's older brother in spirit form snarled again, "But I am here for your brother, not you."

"You won't touch him," He leaped forwards, spectral blade out before the thumb swatted him aside, somehow propelling Golv'ik's body into the wall hard enough to make some bricks fall out, "Uri'ost..." Golv'ik coughed as his figure faded from the plane of Mage Haven and back to the plane of the dead.

"Now that we are just the two of us," Vertigo began performing a gesture cast that Uri couldn't recognize and then his tattoos lit up with a red glow, "Let's handle this ourselves," He approached Uri, walking as the young mage didn't know how to react before thinking about his arsenal of spells. An angel appeared after a small cast and went to swing at Vertigo before the large, muscular man swatted it down once more. The tattoos became blue and the young mage looked on in horror as Vertigo seemed to disappear and appear in front of him before grabbing and throwing him across the arena. It wasn't a teleportation spell, it was speed as evidenced by the deep marks in the sand from the thumb's push off.

Uri didn't have much time to think as Vertigo was on him once more and grabbed him by his uniform and lifted him before his fist slammed into his stomach but unlike what Uri saw, he felt an additional pair of additional punches hit him. Vertigo let him fall backwards on his own as he stood in front of the much weaker mage, "I expected more from the man who took down the very powerful Golv'ik group, single handed," Uri turned onto his stomach and began standing up as the thumb didn't move to stop him and waited as his tattoos took on a red glow to them. He stopped, hands on hips and laughed as he saw the aura of reality anchor appearing around Uri, "You think my magic is reality magic? You would be correct, and incorrect," Thumb punched the ground and caused cracks to quickly appear around it. He stood up and gestured for Uri to approach him and fight.

"Why would I approach you?" Uri asked as he gesture cast Sham'Bo and continued to speak, "Do you think I am an idiot?"

"You do possess the Dominator's magic," Vertigo lost his expression of confidence, "I expected you to use it already."

"I know you want me to," The young mage dusted himself off and then cracked his neck, "But as I said before, I need not use," He was cut off by the large man's knee slamming into his knee and taking him off of his feet and then a palm slamming him back down to the ground. He coughed violently as his eyes met the rage filled face of the thumb. The statement of not using his magic had made the 2 attackers from a few days before, and now the thumb of the Hand of Reality, attack him with pure rage and nearly ignore the fact that the young man's death would cause them to lose any chance of obtaining the magic. The tattoos had gone blue once more.

"Use it! You are a worthless waste of air!" His body was lifted from the ground before being thrown. The stone ground scraped his uncovered skin and tore into his uniform but his brace held strong, "I will kill everything you care about until you use that spell!" Uri put his hand on the ground and a fissure opened under the thumb before a bone jaw latched onto his body, "You humor me, boy," He found a grip on the jaw of the skeleton beast before shattering it and freeing himself as the fissure closed once more.

"I won't give you anything," He stood up painfully as the thumb cracked his neck and the tattoos on his body glowed green, "You will get nothing from me," The thumb dashed towards the young mage but with a desperate attempt to dodge was successful as the large man's hand slammed into the way and cracked the bricks that made up the wall of the arena.

"Stop squirming, Uri'ost," A hand grabbed his leg and tossed him once more, "Use your spells, use your finale, come on, do it," His taunting voice and his resilience towards the spells Uri had cast was tempting a second use of the Dominator's magic. Feeling the sand under him, the young mage decided that if he didn't fight Vertigo at his own game he would have no chance.

With another speeding launch, the thumb was trying to break Uri's will entirely only for a fistful of sand to hit him in the face and cause him to lose focus and violently rub his eyes and face, "You pathetic mage!" He shouted as Uri took the chance and threw his entire body behind a kick directly to the taller man's knee. The impact threw back his leg and, with the aid of another angel, ended with the thumb of the Hand of Reality having his head collide with the ground first. Uri hopped back and waited to see what would happen as his angel stood in front of him to the left to guard him. What he didn't expect was for the tall mage to laugh as he stood up and spat blood and teeth on the ground, "You are not as pathetic as I thought, Uri'ost," His grin and red glowing tattoos matched as blood dripped from his mouth. Uri made a taunting gesture as he called the tall man forwards to attack him. Vertigo lunged forwards, his fist barely missing Uri and breaking the already damaged wall of the arena. The young Oik man lifted his leg up as Vertigo missed and it hit him in the head before the angel pulled him back up to his feet. The giant mage took the hit as if it was nothing more than a poke and turned back to Uri. With his tattoos glowing purple, he vanished from sight and appeared next to Uri but with his fist very much in front of the young mage and too close to him to react. The hit bent him over and threw him back and to the ground. He looked up and coughed on the ground as the older mage looked down at him, "I have seen what I wanted, Uri'ost, Do recover well or you might not be as fun to fight," A portal opened out of thin air, similar to when the two attackers had escaped and the large man was gone. Uri was left on the ground, coughing up blood as he held his stomach and tried to move. His summoned angel that had been beaten down by the same punch had enough strength to lift the young man from the ground and with a simple ask for help, carry him back towards the main center of the academy.
