Lilith…
Lilith…
Lilith!
I snapped into focus, my right cheek burning. "Damn, you didn't need to hit me that hard." I rub my face, pondering what in the actual hell is going on.
"Hurry, we've got to get going. Headquarters called in." Dalia sighed, a concerned look in her eyes. "They want us to quiet the riot."
Shit. This is getting out of hand. Violence is never the answer, but the nobles have taken so much and ignored them for so long. At what point is it right for them to stand up for themselves? And when will the nobles, and court royals see this?
"Alright, just this once let's follow protocol." I look to Dalia. She must see the pleading in my eyes, because her resolve steels as she stands straighter.
"We're going to focus on survivors. That means staff, nobles, anyone injured or in need of assistance. Let's go."
With the towers of the castle high above in the distance, we run into the chaos.

"Verona… don't panic."
"Jasper, when in the history of ever does anyone keep calm when they hear that?"
"You have a point, but I should warn you." I couldn't help but laugh at his expression. His scrunched-up brows, and nose made his face look lighter than his eyes.
"About?" I shrug with a smirk.
My smile completely drops when I look down.
"You cheater!" I yell, and he breaks into uncontrollable laughter.
"Checkmate." He wheezes in between fits of laughter.
"There's no way, you cheating cheater." I accuse him.
"I am not."
"You so are."
"Am not."
"Yes. You. Are." I crawl across the floor, on top of the pia board game scattering all the pieces. I fist his collar, and his eyes drop to my mouth.
"I…" His eyes peer into mine and I notice how close we are. My traitor of a heart begins to beat faster, but my rational mind reminds me of no matter how good I think he is, he's the reason I'm here.
I should be very mad at him.
And I am. Completely, totally, utterly, magnificently, and entirely angry at Jasper.
"Cheated." I pause for a moment, unable to listen to my head, and not able to act on my heart.
We just stay like this, for who knows how long. Staring at each other, frozen, everything unsaid filling in the space between us.
I think a part of me, knows that if we weren't who we were, then maybe just maybe-
A blood curdling scream invaded my thoughts and swiftly stole my attention. I jumped to attention, turning towards the door.
The sound seemed to come from the hallway outside the room. Jasper and both raced to the door, daring the other to go investigate the sound.
"Ugh. Fine, you big scaredy cat." I roll my eyes for the millionth time, and creep towards the door.
I have my hand around the handle and turn it slowly so I can get a peek of what's going on. Surprise, surprise no body, or blood, which is morbidly what I was expecting. I push the door open wider and step out into the hallway.
Turning around I say to Jasper, "See, there's nothing to worry about. It was probably a prank or something." Jasper's face doesn't seem to say he believes me, because he's glaring at something behind me.
"Oh my, now what do we have here?" A strange voice with an accent says aloud.
I move to turn but before I can see anyone, an object slams into my head, rendering me completely unconscious.
