Chapter 10 - An Unexpected Guest (Part Two)

Not believing what was happening, I slowly eased over to where Vicky was sleeping peacefully leaned up against the wall. Gently wrapped my arms around her, I carefully eased her over, laying her down on the floor. The blanket she was using to cover herself was now laid open around her, with her sitting on it.

Softly stepping past Vicky, I eased over to the doorway heading out of the closet. Backing slowly into the bedroom, I never once took my gaze off her. By the time I'd backed all the way to the bed, nothing had happened at all. No POOF. No disappearing and reappearing Vicky. Nothing unusual at all to report.

"Well, isn't that rather interesting," I muttered softly to myself. Living in such a large house – such a large, sound-proof house – I'd long ago picked up a bad habit of talking to myself. If I didn't, I found the looming silence would sometimes creep me out and make me jittery nervous – and I was already jittery enough just trying to sort out the situation before me!

"Let's give it a try this way," I told myself, easing back into the closet. Stepping over Vicky again, this time I bent down and gently tugged the blanket she was laying on, pulling her further into the walk-in closet. Once I was certain she was in far enough, I gingerly stepped past her nude sleeping once again, easing back into the main part of my bedroom.

POOF!! Sure enough, the moment Vicky left my line of vision, she reappeared again before me. It was at the exact moment when I couldn't see her anymore that she disappeared and reappeared in the center of the room – and this time, I got to watch the whole process! Well, at least the whole reappearing process. She didn't POOF until I couldn't see her when she was in the closet, after all.

One moment, there wasn't anything at all in the center of my floor. The next, there was a naked Vicky – sleeping peacefully, as if she'd been there the whole time! The blanket she'd been laying on was nowhere to be seen. I assume it's still on the floor in the closet. Seemingly not the least bit bothered by the cool air or the hard floor, Vicky looked completely at rest in the center of my floor. The way it looked was almost as if it was the most natural place for her in the world.

"Somebody else has to see this, or else I've went damn crazy." Still talking to myself, I strolled over to the door and opened it wide. Glancing across the hall, I was happy to find that the door leading to Maria's door was open.

"Maria!" Shouting loudly, I didn't bother to use the intercom built into our rooms to speak with her. All the technology in this place was paid for and bought by Father and Nother. Who knew if they could eavesdrop on the damn things, when they were in use?!

"What?!" Maria's voice yelled back, from somewhere within her room.

"Come here for a moment! You're not going to believe this!" Sure, it felt foolish to yell endlessly, but what the heck else was I going to do? Walk down the hall and have a naked girl just pop into her roo…

SHIT!!

Rushing over to my bed, I quickly yanked and stripped the bedspread off it and tossed it down and around Vicky. Who knows what the hell Maria would think, if she suddenly waltzed into my bedroom and saw poor Vicky naked, sleeping in the floor like that! Probably that I'd somehow drugged and kidnapped her!

"Who's that?" I'd no more than sat down on the bed when Maria casually strolled into my room, like always. "Is that Vicky? What's she doing here?" From the tone of her voice, it was obvious that she found the whole situation just as suspect and mysterious as I did.

"Yeah, it's Vicky," I confirmed, barely believing it myself.

"Just a moment then!" Turning, Maria started to rush off back to her room. "Let me get dressed real fast!"

"You don't need to," I called out in to the hall, to reassure her. "She's not going to wake up for a while."

A few moments passed, until Maria slowly poked her bald head back into my room. "Are you certain? Have you drugged her? What'd you do to her?!" It was obvious she didn't have a lick of faith in my character, just from the questions she was asking, and what they implied! She was reacting just like I'd imagined she would!

"I haven't done nothing to her!" Somehow, I found myself half-yelling, defensively. "She hasn't been drugged, or anything weird like that. I just kinda… sorta… told her to sleep…" By the time I'd gotten to the end of my explanation, I was barely whispering the worlds. I'd started with a lot of blunder; ended with a whimper.

"Umm… I think I wished her," I finally admitted, so soft that I wasn't certain if Maria actually heard me or not.

"Wished her? What the hell are you talking about?" Sounding completely incredulous, Maria definitely heard me!

"I told you this morning that I had a strange dream about Vicky last night," I reminded her, defensively. "Well, from what Vicky said earlier, it wasn't a dream at all! She really did just magically appear in my room last night!"

"Like hell I'd believe that!" Crossing her arms around her bare chest, Maria snorted derisively. "Prove it," she demanded, stomping her foot!

"Fine. Watch this." Sighing deeply, I walked out into the hall and pushed Maria into the room. "Watch her, and just shut the door." Hoping I wasn't completely crazy, I went out into the hall and waited.

"What the hell is this supposed to prove?" Muttering several choice words under her breath, Maria slammed the door shut. Instantly — just as I'd expected would happen — Vicky simply appeared beside me, laying in the center of the hallway. She really can't leave my line of vision.

For several long moments, I waited for something — anything — to happen, but nothing did. Maria never opened the door, and since my room — like all others in this stupid house — was soundproof, I never heard a sound from the other side. Finally growing concerned, I opened the door and headed back into my room.

"It's not damn possible, but it's real…" Sitting on the edge of my bed, Maria was trembling like a leaf in a hurricane.

"It's real," I assured her, shutting the door behind me. Instantly, Vicky's sleeping form reappeared in the center of the room.

"It's real," Maria whispered, staring wide-eyed at where Vicky lay helpless in the floor.
