Chereads / Burn Me (Bakugo x Reader) / Chapter 49 - Chapter Forty Eight

Chapter 49 - Chapter Forty Eight

Aizawa was kind enough to allow you to rest for the remainder of the day, there was some activity planned for the night so he told you to go eat and sleep so you could participate.

The sky was dark when you opened your eyes, someone's hands were shaking you awake. You turned your head still full of sleep to see a worried Midoriya talking to someone over his shoulder.

"What?" You mumbled, annoyed you were being woken.

"Oh, thank goodness!" Midoriya breathed, physically relaxing.

"You freaked us out!" Kirishima laughed, coming into view.

"Wha-?" You blinked, trying to clear the fog rolling inside your head.

"We came here to wake you up." Ochaco filled you in, "But no matter what we did you wouldn't budge!"

"Yeah-" Kirishima nodded, "-that wasn't cool! We really thought something happened to you."

"Ah...sorry?" You muttered slowly sitting up.

"I forgot using more than one quirk at a time wears you down." Midoriya mentioned as you slowly got your sore body out of bed.

"How do you know that?" Shoto asked.

"Uh-" Midoriya blushed, "-du-during the Sport's Festival, (y/n) told our team!"

"Oh yeah!" Ochaco giggled.

"How long was I out?" You asked slipping on your shoes.

"A couple hours." Mina answered, "While you got beauty sleep, Mr. Aizawa and the pussycats have been working us to the bone!"

"Ha." You laughed, noticing Bakugo was leaning against the wall in the back. Had he been worried about you?

'We are friends.' His words echoed through your mind, causing you to lightly blush remembering how you snuggled into him the way you did.

You rubbed your stiff neck following everyone as Shoto and Midoriya walked by your side.

"Here." Shoto offered you a protein bar.

"Hey-!" Kirishima protested, "-where the hell did you get that!? Have you been holding out on us!?"

"No." Shoto answered. "Mr. Aizawa gave it to me to give to (y/n), since she missed dinner."

"Oh." Kirishima nodded. "Yeah, shouldn't you like eat before this or...?"

"Mm." You shrugged opening the bar, "I did have a sandwich before I went to bed, so I'll be fine."

"Before we get to everyone else-" Mina turned walking backwards to look at you, "-can I just say, wow!?"

"Huh?" You blinked.

"Your fight with Pixie-Bob was insane!" Mina laughed, "I mean I knew you were a talented fighter, but to see to fight with all your quirks at the same time was mindboggling!"

"I-I don't think it was that great-"

"No Mina's right!" Kirishima joined in, "(y/n) you were freaking amazing! I mean you scared the hell outta us when you were falling to the ground but it was astonishing to watch!"

"We have got to fight with our quirks sometime!" Midoriya chirped in,

"Yeah?" You nodded your head.

"Yeah!" Mina, Kirishima and Midoriya agreed.

"You really want to get your ass kicked that bad?" You smirked.

"Oh, you just wait-!" Mina bounced; "-we are getting stronger by the day here!"

"I know." You smiled, "I can see it."

"You-You can!?" Mina blushed.

"Yeah."

"Wow...th-thanks!" Mina grinned ear to ear.

"Perfect-!" Pixie-Box shouted, "-we have filled our stomachs and cleaned the dishes! It's now time for-!"

"A totally awesome test of courage!" Mina jumped, her hands in the air.

"We're gonna win!" Kirishima, Sero and Kaminari cheered.

"Not so fast." Aizawa appeared almost out of nowhere. "It pains me to say it, but the remedial class will be having lessons with me tonight instead."

"You've gotta be kidding me!" Mina cried, wrapping her arms around you. "No!"

"Sorry-" Aizawa shrugged, wrapping the five in his scarf, which you still haven't figured out how it worked. "-your training during the day didn't impress me, so I'll be using this time too."

"No!" Kirishima cried, trying to reach towards you. He wanted to partner up with you in the hopes you would become scared and he could hold you!

"Give me a break!" Kaminari protested.

"Well, that sucks." You replied finishing your protein bar.

"How can you be so heartless!?" Mina cried as Aizawa dragged them away, Bakugo smirked.

"Ah...so-!" Pixie-Bob said getting the night back on track, "-Class B will be our 'scarers', once they are in place Class A will leave in pairs every three minutes. There are tags with your names on them, at the far end of the route. Your goal is to collect those!"

"Revelry in the dark."

"What the fuck?" You muttered staring at Tokoyami. "You good man?"

"Now-!" Pixie-Bob went on, "-The scarers aren't allowed to make physical contact. Use your quirks to terrify the others!"

"The winners are the creative students who makes the most people piss their pants!" Tiger cheered, you still held mix feeling about him.

"Did we really need that visual?" Jiro muttered.

"I see-!" Ida read way more into this than need be.

"Alright-!" Pixie-Bob held out her hand, "-everyone draw to see who their partner is!"

"I-I am all alone!?" Midoriya cried.

Bakugo was shouting at Ojiro to switch partners with him.

You looked over at Toru, her clothes the only thing you could see. You didn't know much about her, you two didn't 'click' as Dr. Aimi put it. From what you knew she was a very bubbly individual.

"Looks like we are gonna be partners!" Her glove rose in the air, making you believe she was cheering.

"Yeah." You nodded as the two of you got into line to enter the forest.

"(y/n)-" Asui and Jiro were behind you. "-aren't you scared!?"

"Why would I be?" You asked.

"Wh-What do you mean!?"

"They are only just students." You rationalized. "And they are from Class 1-B, we know them."

"Those are fair points." Jiro muttered.

"Alright-!" Pixie-Bob called, "-you're up!"

"Why am I so nervous!?" Toru breathed, shaking her arms. "Ok! Let's go!" You smirked entertained by her positivity. The forest was quiet and dark and the two of you walked in silence.

"Hey..." Toru softly whispered, "...how come you don't like me?"

"Huh?" You turned. "What do you mean-" You were cut off by two class B student's jumping out from the brushes. Toru shivered, you turned rising your hand to them. "-yeah-yeah not now."

"Wha-!?" The two gasped.

"What do you mean?" You questioned Toru, "I don't not like you."

"Then how come you never hang out with me like you do Mina, or Asui or even Midoriya?"

"I...I don't know." You shrugged, "I guess I am just new to the friends' things, and Mina kind of declared we were friends."

"Well can we do that?"

"Sure." You smiled.

"Yay!" Toru cheered, wrapping her arm around yours. "Ok, you guys can go back into the bushes and try again."

"Are you kidding me!?" Rin Hiryu growled, "This is your fault Yui!" He pointed to the girl next to him. "You suck-!" He stomped off. "-ugh! I am surrounded by idiots!"

"He seems lovely." You turned to the girl with a pixie haircut.

"Yeah...not really..." She sighed.

"I am Toru Hagakure!" Her glove waved, "This is (y/n) (l/n)!"

"I'm Yui-" She was cut off by a smell the breeze carried. "-what is that?" You looked around your surroundings.

"Smoke." You answered.

"Hey..." Toru pointed off into the distance. "...do you see that too?"

"Is that...blue fire?" Yui questioned, Toru turned to you.

"That ain't my doing." You defended raising your hands, feeling Toru's glare.

Just then, Mandalay's voice popped into your head, sending chills through your body as she explained two villains just attacked and more could be coming.

"Something is going down." You noted the odd smell in the air and the flames fanning the night. "We gotta get out of the forest, something is in the air, and I don't want to find out what."

"Yeah." Toru nodded in agreement. "Yui, are you coming?"

"Yeah." She nodded following the two of you.

"I hope everyone is alright." Toru worriedly pressed.

"Of course, they are." You replied, "They are stronger than you think."

"I know." Toru breathed, "I just can't help but worry."

"Do you know where we are going?" Yui asked.

"Not a clue." You cracked a joke, making her smile. "The smoke was coming from the way we came; I don't really feel like walking through what could be poisonous gas."

"Smart." Yui nodded.

You turned forward, hiding the fact your muscles were so tight they hurt, every nerve you held was standing on edge. But they didn't need to know that, right now the worst thing you three could do is panic. So, you hid your worries for yourself and continued to try and find your way out of these damn trees!
