Lin Wen quickly averts her eyes and stares at the floor. She graduated in the top ten from her class, and when did she start to listen to someone who she doesn't even know.
He walks over to the table and pours himself a cup of tea. After the bowing, he has been drinking with all the guests. He sips his tea, and Lin Wen just stands there. She wants to ask who he is and who she is. But how does she speak up without sounding suspicious?
"Come over here." As he speaks and looks at her. Lin Wen looked up and saw his eyes on her. That pair of eyes seems like it'll eat her up if she doesn't do what he says.
Lin Wen obeys him and walks up to him.
"Sit down," he says and drinks his tea again. Lin Wen sits and looks at him again. This whole time he didn't call her by name, so does he know who she is?
He noticed her staring and slightly coughed. "I promised to save your brother, now can you give me what I want?" He puts his hand out to her and waits.
"Give you what?" Lin Wen asks with confusion. She doesn't know what he's talking about.
After saying this, Lin Wen notices his anger rising from his face. "Wo wo wo, calm down first. I don't know what you're talking about. To be honest with you, I lost my memory. Just before we got married, I woke up from the carriage and that's when I realized I lost my memory." Lin Wen said everything and didn't hide it from him. Even though only part of those things she said is correct. She can't say that she time traveled. Like what will he think, right now he's already angry, and if she did say that then will he kill her?
He examined her and didn't keep his eyes on her. She doesn't seem to be lying and that makes him angrier. He finished his tea and threw the cup on the floor.
Lin Wen's heart jumped as she saw this happen. He stands and walks out of the room without turning back. The door of the room is still opened and Lin Wen is left with the cold wind.
Lin Wen is shocked by his action, and she pours herself a cup of tea to calm herself down before she explodes too. She's angry too! Angry for coming to this damn place and not sure how to go back. She isn't sure if she died already or what.
Lin Wen closes the door and doesn't even wait for him to come back. She takes off the first two-layer of her clothes, then the accessories on her head. She lays on the bed as she wonders. This night is gonna be long, as she lays on the bed thinking what she should do.
On the other hand,
Fu Yi Ting walked out of their wedding room and went to his office. His personal guard Yang Li is waiting for him there.
"Sir, why are you out? Aren't you supposed to be …" before he can finish speaking, Yang Li could feel a cold stare from Fu Yi Ting.
"Go check what happened to her last night. I want every single detail." After saying this, Yang Li walks out.
Fu Yi Ting sits in his chair and looks at the moon from the window.
Slowly, Lin Wen lays on the bed and falls asleep. She doesn't remember how she fell asleep, but in her sleep she had a dream. A dream that felt so real. She couldn't really see what's going on, but there was a group of older kids kicking and hitting another boy. Lin Wen walks up to them and tells them to back off, but those kids didn't listen to her and hit her also.
Morning came, and Lin Wen woke up from her dream. The room is still as it was yesterday, and Lin Wen knows that he didn't come back. It's not that she wishes for him to come back, but she needs some answers too. She still doesn't know where she is, and in this world she doesn't know who to trust with no memory.
The door opened and a young girl came in.
"Lady Fu, let me help you get changed up," as she walks up with a plate of water and a towel.
This is the second person that Lin Wen saw after arriving at this place. She doesn't know who she is.
"You are?" Lin Wen looks at her dumbfounded.
"Lady Fu, I'm your maid, Xiao Lan." She bows to her.
Lin Wen nodded and quickly told her to stand up. She's not used to people bowing so she told Xiao Lan no need to do that when there's no one around.
Xiao Lan nods with a smile and helps Lin Wen get dressed. Today's her first day after getting married, and she doesn't even know what her husband's name is. And right now, she's getting dressed to see her in-laws. She feels like she has the worst luck in years.
As Lin Wen starts to think about how to escape from this situation, the door opens and it's her husband that left yesterday night. He told Xiao Lan to go out and closed the door as she walked out.
Lin Wen looked at him and he did the same. There was silence and no one said a word. As Lin Wen was about to open her mouth to ask who he was, he walked closer to her. His eyes are on hers, "you really don't remember?"
Lin Wen shakes her head. "I don't remember." Lin Wen knows that he doesn't trust her, but she really doesn't remember anything besides who she really is.
"Do you know who I am?" Lin Wen asks him.
He looks at her and then walks over to sit, and pours himself a cup of water.
"You are the deceased general's daughter, Jun Lin Wen." Once he finishes speaking, he looks straight into Lin Wen's eyes. After a night of thinking, and confirming, Yang Li came back with the details saying that Lin Wen got attacked which may be the cause for her to forget everything.
So, this body has the same name as her, as Lin Wen thought and unconsciously drank Fu Yi Ting's water.
Lin Wen nods as she takes the information in, and then looks at him. "Who are you then? And where am I?" as she asks questions.
Fu Yi Ting didn't answer her and just stared at her hard. Lin Wen noticed his staring and then noticed that she took his cup of water.
"Sorry," as she slides the cup of water back to him.
He looks down at the cup of water that she drank and coughs a little.
"This is Guogong Mansion. I'm Fu Yi Ting, Dali Temple Shaoqing." He saids and takes another cup, and pours himself water.
'Guogong? Shaoqing?' From what Lin Wen remembers from history and the drama she watched, those are high nobility rank back then.
Fu Yi Ting examines her as she's lost in thought. "Me and your marriage isn't real. What I mean is that there's no attachment. I help your brother and you give me the things I need. After one year, I'll give you a divorce paper."
Lin Wen raised her brows when she heard what he said. She thought about this yesterday whether this marriage was out of love or what. If it was out of love then she will find a way out of it cuz she's not the actual person who owns this body. But if it's not out of love, she still has to find a way out.
"What is it that my brother did that I need your help? And what do I have that you need? Oh and wait, why one year and not now?"
Lin Wen looks at him as if he were one of her suspects.
Before they can talk any further, Xiao Lan suddenly opens the door saying that everyone's waiting in the living room for them to do the morning greetings.
"Let's go. I'll answer those questions later." He stood up and held out his hand.
Lin Wen scratches her head as she looks down at the hand. "Didn't you say no attachment?" as she whispers to him.
"Do you know how to act?" as he said to her.
Oh right. Act, as she places her hand on his and both of them walk out the room.
Lin Wen suddenly felt so stupid, but that can't blame her since she never dated before in her modern life. She doesn't even know what love is, as her life was full of training to become a police. But she didn't even become a police officer for a full day and she came here already.
They came to the living room, and Fu Yi Ting's parents sat in the middle of the room waiting for them. At the left, his younger brother Fu Yi Han sits there along with his older sister Fu Shan Shan.
Mrs. Guogong's old maid came up to Lin Wen with a cup of tea. Lin Wen looks at the cup of tea dumbfounded, she doesn't know what to do with it.
Fu Yi Ting coughs and does some eye signals. "Right, right," she's supposed to give the tea to her mother-in-law and father in-law.
Lin Wen smiles and holds the cup of tea out with both hands.
"Mother, please have tea."
Mrs. Guogong smiles and takes the tea and drinks it. She then takes out a jade bracelet and puts it on Lin Wen's left hand.
"Lin Wen, I finally waited for this day to come," as she saids with a smile and pats her hand.
Lin Wen smiles. She doesn't know she's referring too, but she gave the next cup of tea to Mr. Guogong.
After doing all the greetings and have breakfast, Mr. Guogong went to work. Fu Yi Ting took a week off from work because of his wedding. At first he said he didn't need to, but his boss Zhang Yu Zhi forced him to. He said, "Yi Ting, I'm telling you this, marriage is one of the biggest things that'll happen only once in your life. You should appreciate it and take this time to spend with your newly wed wife. The Dali Temple won't shut down. Go have fun." He gives Fu Yi Ting a pat on the back as he laughs and walks away.
Fu Yi Ting can't help but feel hopeless.
They both walk back to their room, and Lin Wen is ready for him to answer her question.
"So, can you answer my questions now?" as she asks with blinking eyes.
Fu Yi Ting who's in front of her suddenly turns around, and looks down at her. Lin Wen never notices that he's this tall. His face is so close to her that Lin Wen feels like she can suffocate. She swallows her saliva and starts to stutter. She always has this bad habit when she gets nervous.
"Wh-what a-a-are you doing?" as she feels him getting closer to her.
