After a few minutes, they had written down her measurements and given her some undergarments, albeit archaic ones, and a nightgown. Once she had dressed, she was escorted into a room so she could sleep.
'I wonder why they were looking for me... Perhaps they brought me here?' Alana wondered as she laid in the bed she was given for the night, looking at her hand, as if using it as a focal point to keep her mind on track.
'If they did, I'd assume they expect something of me, but unfortunately for them, I'm a neet. I don't have any particular skills and from what I can tell, I gained no powers upon coming here...' She continued her train of thought.
'But that doesn't distract me from the fact that they must have had a reason to bring me here, that is, if they did, anyway. I just hope that it wasn't because of some kind of demon lord or anything like that...' She thought as she lowered her hand down to her side.
'Well, pushing that aside, I've had an... Eventful day... I should try to sleep.' She thought bitterly as she closed her eyes.
The sound of curtains being moved along a metal rod filled the air as sunlight flooded the room swiftly, causing a small amount of irritation to Alana, forcing her to wake up a bit.
"Miss Nizam, it is time to wake up." A maid said as she walked over to the side of the bed. Alana began to rub her eyes as she sat up. After a moment, she looked at the maid.
"What time is it?" She asked.
"Roughly half past the seventh bell." The maid responded.
"I have no clue what that means..." She said as she reached for her phone, which is laying next to her on the mattress. She turned it on and the time read seven forty-three. "So that still works, neat." She mumbled. She looked at the maid. "Isn't it a bit early?" She asked.
"M-miss... You are the last to wake..." The maid said hesitantly.
"Tell me something I don't know." Alana said sarcastically as she stretched a bit.
"Umm... You are in imminent danger of being sold into slavery to silence you...?" The maid said, unsure of whether or not Alana had been told already.
"Wait..." Alana said as she processed the information she was just given. "What!?" She yelled as she jumped out of her bed and began pacing. 'If that's the case, then does that mean I was really 'summoned' into this world?' She wondered anxiously as her pacing got faster. "Maid, was I summoned here by some wizard or sorcerer, by any chance?" Alana asked. She nodded, albeit hesitantly.
"Yes, you were..." She said.
'I see. So what kind of looming threat is there in this world? A demon lord? That's cliche, but likely... In any case, I need to be ready for anything, after all, my future depends on it, but more importantly, my comfort!' Alana thought to herself as her pacing began to slow.
"If I may, breakfast is ready, you also have a meeting with his majesty in the afternoon that you must get ready for." The maid said. Almost immediately Alana froze in place.
'Fuck, fuck, fuck! Of course! Meeting with the king is one of the first things I should have expected!' She exclaimed to herself. 'Well, odds are he'll have me tested for capability or something, right?' She thought as she walked over to the maid. "L-lead the way, please." She said timidly.
The maid bowed and lead Alana to the dining room, where she ate her breakfast alone. After her breakfast, she was brought to a changing room and changed into a dress, and in the afternoon, she was brought to the doors of the throne room.
"Now entering, Alana Nizam, the otherworlder summoned into this world by the command of our king and ruler, Markus Drakewing." An announcer said loudly as the doors to the throne room opened.
Upon the opening of the doors, Alana could see a man sitting on a throne dressed in royal garb. He has blonde hair and a well-built body. Looking at his face, Alana can tell he has seen battle of some sort as the scars on his face are from both blades and claws.
Next to the throne is an orb in the divet of a table. The table is rather ornate, having several carvings and patterns strewn about its design, a true antique if Alana ever did see one.
Hesitantly, Alana entered the throne room. Her entry was met with many murmurs and whispers as people spoke amongst themselves. After a few moments, Alana stopped and knelt at what she thought was the right distance, which was close, she was off by only a few inches.
"You may rise." The king said. Alana did as he said as the attendants next to the throne wheeled down the table with the orb. "Place your hand on the orb." He stated once the table was in front of her. Hesitantly and with fear, Alana did as she was told.
'This is totally one of those magical aptitude tests and it is activating all of my anxiety!' She thought to herself as the orb slowly began to glow. Slowly it got brighter and brighter, until eventually, it cracked, then shattered, causing gasps to come from every corner of the room.
"Mage, what do you make of that?" The king asked.
"She seems to have a large amount of latent mana." A robed man said as he walked forwards a bit.
'Safe!' Alana thought to herself.
"I see." The king said before whispering into the mage's ear. "Everybody is dismissed!" He said with an authoritative tone.
'M-maybe not...' She thought cautiously as she slowly stepped away.
Upon exiting the throne room, she was once again escorted, but this time to a dining room, a different one from breakfast. "The food will be prepared soon." A maid said to Alana. After a few minutes, the king walked into the dining room and sat at the head of the table.
'Wait, why is he here!? Am I in trouble? Am I in danger? Somebody, please explain!' She thought to herself frantically as she began to sweat a bit out of fear.
"Your name is Alana, yes?" He asked.
"Y-yes!" She responded anxiously. He smiled mischievously for a moment.
"Tell me, what had occurred before my men found you?" He asked.
"I... Um..." She said nervously.
"I had been told you were naked, why is that?" He asked another question.
"Well, you see... I hadn't gotten dressed, and then I was brought here, and there was a forest, then there were goblins, and... and..." She said, stringing her words together and slowly getting higher and higher pitched as she became a bit overwhelmed and tears began to form in her eyes. 'I feel like I'm about to pass out... Is it because I'm afraid?' Alana wondered.
"No need to say it all at once, take your time, we do have all afternoon, after all." He said.
'W-we what...?' Alana thought as her vision began to fade.
"Goblins!" Alana yelled as she sat up in a hurry before coming to her senses. "Huh? A bed?" She mumbled as she looked at the blankets on her. She looked at the windows and quickly noticed the late hour. 'Did I pass out!?' She asked herself frantically as dread filled her body.
She took a few breaths to slow her train of thought, then stood up and walked over to the window. 'The fact that I'm still here and in a room like this means that they think I still have value.' She thought as she gazed down at the garden out her window.
"Miss Nizam." A voice said as the door opened. Alana looked at the door and saw the maid that woke her up earlier in the day. "Thank goodness you are awake, I was worried when you passed out earlier." She said as she entered the room and closed the door behind her.
"Ah, so I did pass out..." Alana said.
"Yes, it seems that you were a bit overwhelmed." The maid said as she approached Alana.
"I was scared..." Alana said lightly. "Politics aren't really my thing, nor is speaking with royalty... You know, maybe change that last one, speaking with most people." Alana said as she chuckled at herself. The maid stopped just a few feet from Alana.
"Is that so?" She asked.
"Yeah..." Alana said. "People are complex. They're always scheming one thing or another, hoping to get one over on you. I was just scared that maybe I was being tricked or that if I made the wrong move, then maybe..." Alana said, then looked away from the maid.
"Miss Nizam..." The maid said. "I do appreciate you talking to me about these things, however, I do not believe I stand at a high enough rank to speak with you in the manner you are hoping." She continued.
"Right..." Alana said quietly. "Well, why don't you answer a question instead?" Alana asked.
"If that is what you wish for me to do." The maid said.
"If you were the least talented person in your family, what would you do?" Alana asked.
"I'm not sure I quite understand." The maid said.
"Nevermind then." Alana said.
"Okay..." The maid said. "I should go inform his majesty that you are doing alright and are awake. Goodnight, miss Nizam." The maid said with a bow as she left.
