Chapter 7 - Status

The three heroes, Adam, Jasem, and Dean, rode in silence in the carriage, headed to the church. They had been invited by High Priest Oliver, who was going to introduce them to the people of the Church of Atheer, who believed in the god who had summoned them to this world.

As they sat there in silenct their thoughts racing. Dean and Jasem were worried about what would happen to them when they arrived at the church.

Their minds were uneasy as they thought about what Ahmad, a former hero, had written about the Church of Atheer and its people in his book. His words were still stuck in their heads.

Dean and Jasem looked at Adam, who seemed to be the only one who was relaxed and calm in this situation. He was enjoying the views that passed by outside the carriage, his eyes glued to the window with a smile that never left his face.

"Dude, we're panicking over here, and you're just smiling like that. If you have a plan, please tell us about it." Adam looked at them after he heard Dean's words, and sighed when he saw their faces, which were filled with fear.

"I shouldn't have told you about that at all. Now, we're all going to look suspicious when we arrive there. Just do as I told you and follow my lead, and everything will be okay."

Adam hoped that his words would calm them down, but they didn't do anything to the two who were still panicking. This made him look away and ignore them, and he started going over the plan he had made in his head one more time before they arrived.

After a few minutes of following the main road toward the church, the carriage stopped suddenly. The heroes had arrived at their destination, and Dean and Jasem's hearts skipped a beat when the door opened and they saw High Priest Oliver standing before them.

"Welcome to the Church of Atheer, dear heroes," Oliver said, bowing slightly to them. Adam stepped out of the carriage first and shook Oliver's hand as soon as he arrived before him.

"Thank you for inviting us," Adam said. "And I really apologize for what happened yesterday between us. I hope you forgive me." Oliver's smile widened as he was relieved that Adam wasn't mad anymore about what had happened the day before.

"No need to apologize at all," Oliver said to Adam, who stepped to the side as the other two came out of the carriage and shook Oliver's hand, who was waiting for them. "I'm just happy you managed to be here."

"Please follow me," Oliver said as he turned around and started heading towards the entrance of the church. The three heroes followed behind him obediently.

After they went inside, the heroes were amazed by how beautiful the church was from the inside. It looked even more magnificent than the outside, and their necks almost broke as they looked up at the golden statue that was hanging from above.

"Wow!" the three heroes exclaimed in unison, unable to believe how beautiful the statue was.

Oliver, who saw that the golden statue had grabbed the heroes' attention, stopped and immediately began speaking to them. "This is the statue of Atheer, the true goddess of Ohinia," he said.

The three of them didn't care about religious stuff, as none of them believed in it. However, they were all amazed by the statue's beauty. It was golden, shiny, and amazingly done.

After gazing at the statue for a few moments longer, the heroes finally tore their eyes away and turned to the priests, who were waiting patiently to greet them. The priests smiled warmly and extended their hands in welcome.

The heroes approached the priests with smiles on their faces, eager to greet them. The priests, in turn, welcomed them with open arms and warm smiles. They shook hands with each other, exchanging pleasantries and blessings.

After the priests finished greeting the heroes, three young children approached them, each carrying a glass of wine. Dean and Jasem flinched when they saw the wine, but Adam grabbed his glass without hesitation.

Dean and Jasem looked at each other for a few moments, unsure of what to do. They saw Adam grab his glass of wine without hesitation, but they were both hesitant to do the same. Finally, they decided to follow Adam's lead and start walking towards the kids, but they didn't reach out to take the glasses. This made Oliver speak to them immediately.

"Please, dear heroes, have a taste of our holy wine as we walk around the church and enjoy this beautiful day. I assure you, you will enjoy it," Oliver said. The two heroes were hesitant, but Oliver's kind words put them on the spot. They grabbed the wine from the kids and started walking again, following Oliver.

As they walked around the church, holding the wine in their hands, Dean and Jasem started to sweat. They couldn't focus on anything Oliver was saying, their minds were fixated on the glasses in their hands.

After walking around the church for a few more minutes, the heroes and the high priest stopped suddenly. They had arrived in front of a huge statue of Atheer, the goddess of Ohinia. All of the priests knelt before her as soon as they entered the room, closed their eyes, and began to pray.

"Get rid of it now!" Adam whispered to Dean and Jasem, who were standing behind him. He quickly poured the wine he was holding behind the huge statue of Atheer, then knelt beside Oliver and pretended to pray with him. The other two heroes did the same.

When the priests finished praying to their goddess, they stood up and looked at Oliver at the same time. They saw that the heroes' glasses were empty, and they nodded to him with smiles on their faces.

Oliver, who knew what that meant, looked at Adam suddenly and said something strange to him that he would not say if this situation was normal.

"Jump!" Oliver commanded, his voice sharp and commanding. He wanted to see if the Wine of Soul was working, and he was relieved when he saw Adam start jumping suddenly before him.

"Stop!" Oliver barked at Adam, who immediately stopped jumping. Oliver turned around and started walking away from the place, and the three heroes stood there, still. Dean and Jasem knew what Adam was doing, and they followed his lead.

Oliver, who had been gone for a few moments, returned holding three white boards. He gave one to each hero and began to explain how they worked.

"Heroes, these are the holy boards of Atheer. With them, you will be able to see your powers and track your growth. Only you will be able to see the details. To activate it, you need to say the word [Status] or think about it, and everything will appear before you."

After Oliver finished speaking, the three heroes activated their boards and looked at the skills they had. As soon as their status appeared on the boards they held, they were amazed by what they saw.

The three heroes looked back at Oliver, who began to speak to them. His job was done here, and he was ready to leave.

"Head down to the Training Grounds. Your new teachers are waiting for you there." Oliver turned and began to walk away, the rest of the priests following behind him. The three heroes started to leave the church, smiles on their faces. They all had the same idea

'Let's get the hell out of this city immediately.'

The three heroes headed towards the carriage, relieved to have escaped the church safely. They had taken what they came for, and there was nothing left for them there. They were eager to leave this place and get away from the people who had tried to enslave them.
