Chapter 12 - Untitled!

Yan Nuan walked out of the man's office and could see the anxious expression on her father and Nanny Liu's face. Upon noticing her, they immediately approached her.

Father Yan instantly grabbed her hand and looked her over. "Were you hurt?"

Nanny Liu also came closer. "Young master, are you alright?"

"I'm fine," Yan Nuan replied and shook her head. She lowered her head and her eyelashes veiled the emotions in her eyes. She felt deeply touched.

Not only was she granted family, they were caring as well. Father Yan who had wanted to admonish her, sighed when he saw her slumped shoulders.

"Let's go home," he announced and began to walk away. Yan Nuan looked at her father's retreating figure as he walked in front of them and knew that he was mad at her. But, he was too worried to get mad at her.

The moment they walked into the villa, Father Yan turned to her. His gaze was stern as he asked, "Why did you get into a fight?"

"They were harassing a female student."

Father Yan narrowed his gaze. "And you were the only saint who saw it and decided to save her?"

"I'm not a saint. They were there for me. I can't let someone get hurt because of me."

Father Yan was even more incensed. "They were there for you? Yan Yehan, what have you been doing in school?"

Father Yan was very upset whenever he remembered that his son was arrested. It wasn't that he was totally unaware that this son of his was a tyrant but he never complained. After all, the boy was so brilliant and never brought him to shame. He had always felt proud whenever his business partners talked about the son of his.

Yan Nuan lowered her head. "I'm sorry, dad."

"You're sorry? What if you had gotten hurt?"

"It was my fault."

Father Yan sighed helplessly. He really couldn't bear to admonish the child. He pursed his lips and suddenly asked, "By the way, since when did you know how to fight?"

He had always known that his son was a scared cat. He couldn't even kill a snake. How could he fight so well?

Yan Nuan blinked. What was she supposed to say? That his weakling of a son was dead? She answered in a low voice, "I have no idea. Maybe because I knew that if I didn't defend myself, I would get hurt."

Father Yan's gaze softened and he couldn't help but beckon to one of the maids. "Get the chef to cook for the young master."

"Bro Yan!"

Yan Nuan heard from behind her as she walked down the school hall the next day. She paused in her steps and turned towards the direction of the voice. It was the girl from the day before. She skipped towards Yan Nuan with a wide smile.

"Hi," Yan Nuan greeted.

"Bro Yan, thank you for yesterday. If not for you..."

Yan Nuan shook her head, interrupting her. "No. I was at fault. They were looking for me."

"Nevertheless, it was all thanks to you that I was unhurt," the girl replied, shaking her head adamantly. She flashed Yan Nuan a smile as she brought out a box of cookies from her bag. "I personally baked this. I hope you'll like it."

Yan Nuan lowered her gaze and her long eyelashes fluttered instantly, following her eye movement. She looked at the box in the girl's hand and didn't collect it. "erm... I cannot accept this."

Yan Nuan was conflicted. On one hand, she didn't want to break the girl's heart and on the other, she didn't want to

give her unnecessary hope. She had just barely managed to escape the clutches of her so called girlfriends.

How could she not be extra careful?

The girl looked at the struggling expression on Yan Nuan's face and burst into laughter. She clutched her chest dramatically as she managed to say,

"I'm not planning to…woo you. I have a boyfriend. Who knew you could be so scared? It's not as if I'm going to force myself on you. Also, I know you're gay"

Yan Nuan inwardly breathed a sign of relief. She flashed the girl a smile and stretched her hand out to collect the box. "Thank you."

The girl smiled in reply and turned to leave. However she, halted after taking a few steps. "By the way, my name is Mu Linglong."

Yan Nuan nodded in understanding and watched as the girl left. She retracted her gaze and stared at the transparent box of cookies before shaking her head and turning towards her class.

The class went smoothly for Yan Nuan however a nagging feeling began to prop up in her mind. Her knowledge was ancient and she was only able to cope in school because of her Chinese literacy. However, things have progressed in thus era and she wasn't versed in the new system of learning. This greatly bothered her. Including the fact that Yan Yehan was very popular for his academic brilliance. What if she messed up and dragged down his grades with her illiteracy?

Yan Nuan sighed. Living in a world she wasn't familiar with was more stressful than she thought. However, she had to do her best no matter what. She had been given another chance and she wasn't going to waste it.

She was still lost in thought when a face suddenly appeared in her line of vision. She flinched and stepped back before relaxing upon seeing that the person was Su Ning.

"Su Ning," she called out.

Su Ning seemed to be tensed as she asked, "I heard you were attacked. Were you hurt?"

Yan Nuan shook her head. "No."

"I'm relieved." She glanced at her wristwatch. "My teammates have been waiting for me. I only waited because I saw you. I'll leave first."

Yan Nuan watched her retreating figure as she jogged off and shook her head. After she left, a few boys came out from behind her and Yi Han was among them. He looked at the straight back of the boy leaving and grumbled, "I told you we should have gone to him and apologize immediately Su Ning left. Now, he has gone."

One of the boys glared at him. "If you were not guilty too, why didn't you do it?"

Yi Han instantly zipped his lips.
