Yan Nuan wasn't stupid. From her memories, Yan He was a bully who always picked on her. If she were to help him return home, wasn't that courting death? Although, she was confident she could deal with him, why bother attracting unwanted trouble. Also, this First Madam was a cunning person who couldn't be trusted. Although, Yan Nuan's personality was relatively cold and aloof, she was very perceptive. It was also why the Emperor kept her close to him.
Li Wenna was stunned. Seeing the lazy expression on the teenager's handsome face, she finally realized something: Yan Nuan had no intention to help her. She was only pulling her leg.
She instantly burst out in anger. "Yan Yehan, you bastard. How dare you trick me? Are you even a man?"
"I'm indeed not a man."
Li Wenna scoffed. "What a dimwit. No wonder, your mother died. Like daughter, like son. Insane people!"
Yan Nuan had been indifferent to her rant before but upon hearing her last words, she frowned heavily. Even Nanny Liu was angry. She was about to say something when Yan Nuan glanced at her and shook her head in disapproval.
She watched as Yan Nuan pressed the 'nurse call' button beside the bed. Li Wenna was oblivious; after all, she was insistent on reclaiming her pride before leaving the hospital ward.
Soon enough, the door opened and a few doctors rushed in with their stethoscopes hanging around their necks. Yan Nuan glanced at the doctors who were heaving to catch their breaths. She flashed them an innocent smile and asked, "Can you chase this woman out? She is threatening my life."
Li Wenna: "…" The heck?!
Nanny Liu: "…" Since when was her young master so courageous?
The doctors who had rushed over thinking it was an emergency: "…"
Father Yan who was at the door of the ward opened the door and walked in. His voice was stern as he asked, "What's going on here?"
Upon hearing his voice, Yan Nuan quickly lowered her head and the cunning light in her gaze dissipated. Her shoulders were drooped and the fringe of her hair fell onto her face. At that moment, she seemed so pitiful. This was the scene that Father Yan saw immediately he entered the room.
Yan Nuan replied in a low voice, "It's First Madam, father. You told me to get some rest but she suddenly came here and told me to beg you on behalf of brother. But, I didn't dare to. After all, Father has never been wrong in his judgment. But, she started insulting me. She even called me a bastard."
Father Yan looked at the boy seated in the bed with mixed feelings. His shoulders were drooped; a sign of helplessness. His voice was also hoarse probably because he was just recovering. There was a sheen of sweat trickling down his forehead. Would such a weak person cause trouble with anyone? Father Yan turned to Li Wenna and his gaze immediately turned cold. He had never liked this wife of his who had cornered him into marriage. He had always known that this person always liked to get what she wanted but bullying a sick person? And she had even called his son a bastard?
Li Wenna waved her hand frantically and said through gritted teeth, "He is lying. I didn't say that." She hurriedly grabbed the bento box in the table. "I came to visit him. I even brought food."
Father Yan scoffed. "You were not here even when we received news that Yehan was bitten by a snake. Who would believe you're here to visit him?"
Afterwards, he turned to the doctors. "I apologize for the inconvenience we have caused you. There is no emergency. You can return."
The doctors nodded speechlessly. They had all been curious about this patient who had survived even after he had been declared brain dead. So, when the emergency bell rang, they had rushed over to have a look at this patient. But, it turns out all they saw was a family drama?
The doctors left the ward and Father Yan turned to Li Wenna. "You should leave now. Yehan needs rest."
Li Wenna looked at Father Yan who had turned his back on her and reluctantly left the ward.
One week later…
Yan Nuan looked at herself in the mirror. She was putting on her uniform. A pair of trousers and a shirt. She tucked the shirt in and brushed her wavy hair to the back. She looked so handsome that she couldn't help but take a few more glances at herself in awe.
A smile spread across her lips as she looked at her own reflection. It had been one week since she died in the Sui dynasty and reincarnated into the body of this high schooler in the modern world. She had made up her mind. Since she was given another chance at life, she would make the utmost use of it.
She took a seat on the edge of the bed and put on her sneakers before grabbing her bag. She put it on and walked towards the door. Coincidentally, the moment she opened the door knob, a servant was also about to knock on the door. Yan Nuan smiled and asked,
"What's wrong?"
The servant was initially about to speak but when she lifted her hand to look at Yan Nuan, she was stunned. Only one thought ran through her mind, 'His smile is so dazzling.'
Yan Nuan coughed in embarrassment seeing the girl staring at her with dreamy eyes. The girl blushed and hurriedly said,
"Second Young Master, Nanny Liu asked me to bring you down for breakfast."
Yan Nuan pursed her lips and looked at her wristwatch. She was already so late for school. If she stayed and eat, she would only get more late. Lateness will ruin her excitement for school. Yan Nuan had never gone to the academy like the other kids in her past life. Thus, she was so excited that she could barely sleep.
She lifted her head to thank the servant but all she saw was the retreating back of the servant scurrying away with a red face. Yan Nuan shook her head and laughed.
