Nanny Liu sighed and asked, "Do you like the soup? I can cook hotpot for you when we get home?"
Yan Nuan smiled. "Yeah."
"Okay, then," Nanny Liu nodded and released her before turning to the side and wiped her tears in embarrassment. "You should go and have your bath."
Yan Nuan hummed in reply before grabbing the clothes and entered the bathroom. She shut the door behind her and looked at the sparkling clean bathroom. Most of the things in it were things Yan Nuan had never seen in her past life. But due to Yan Yehan's memories, she knew how to use them.
She turned on the shower and stood under it as she adjusted the temperature. The water sprayed over her with the mist clouding the glass doors of the bathroom. Through the misty vapour in the enclosed bathroom, Yan Nuan could vaguely see her reflection. The water ran down her hair and slipped down her body. She gaped at the flat chest with two small mounds showing in her refleftion. No wonder everyone thought she was a boy. She didn't even need to hide anything to look like a boy.
Yan Nuan finished bathing and grabbed the towel on the shower stand. The moment she stepped out of the shower, she could hear the loud voice of a woman from the other side of the door.
Yan Nuan furrowed her brows with displeasure. The voice didn't seem to belong to Nanny Liu. Could it be that someone else was in the room? She put on her clothes while trying to listen in to their conversation.
She walked out of the bathroom and shut the door behind her, conveniently attracting the attention of everyone in the room. A frown appeared on Yan Nuan's exquisite face at the sight of the scene in the room. A woman was standing with her back turned towards Yan Nuan. Her hand was lifted towards Nanny Liu's face.
Yan Nuan didn't think.
She instinctively reacted and grabbed he woman by the wrist. Her gaze was cold at the thought of what could have happened to Nanny Liu if she hadn't come out at that moment.
At that thought, Yan Nuan's grip on the woman's wrist tightened. A loud yelp rang in the ward. Yan Nuan could finally see the woman's face and she finally recognized who she was.
The First Madam of the Yan family; Yan Yehan's stepmother, Li Wenna.
Yan Nuan's brows knitted in suspicion. What was she doing here? And what had she said to Nanny Liu? She released the woman's wrist and stepped back indifferently.
Li Wenna glared at her, massaging her wrist. "Yehan, you brat. How dare you?"
Yan Nuan gave her a smile as if the one who had twisted her wrist earlier was just an illusion. "How may I help you, First Madam Yan?"
Li Wenna scoffed in anger. "How dare you talk to me that way? I'm your mother."
"My mother."
Yan Nuan quirked an eyebrow. She laughed insincerely, "First Madam, you really should not make such jokes. Are we acting a comedy or something?"
"I'm also considered your mom!"
"Hm. You can be my mom…"
Li Wenna's eyes brightened at Yan Nuan's words but Yan Nuan could see that it was anything but sincere. True to Yehan's memories, this First Madam was a snake who couldn't be trusted.
Yan Nuan continued with a scoff, "But, are you worthy?"
Li Wenna who had wanted to curry favor with her instantly stiffened. She was at a loss of words. Her gaze regarded Yan Nuan with obvious hostility. This lad had always been stubborn but naïve. Since when was he so sharp tongued?
However, she still forced a smile and presented a bento box. "I heard you were out of coma and cooked rice and chicken stew for you. It should help lift your appetite."
Afterwards, she raised her gaze and glared at Nanny Liu. "What are you doing? Come collect the food."
Yan Nuan snickered inwardly. Was this woman so clueless? She could see that Yan Nuan was obviously irritated with the way she was acting towards Nanny Liu. She wanted to curry favor but didn't know how to do it.
Yan Nuan couldn't be bothered to continue playing pretense with this kind of person. She took a seat on her bed and leaned back. "Nanny Liu is not a maid. I won't hold this against you, First Madam. However, seeing how enthusiastic you are to curry favor with me, I'd like to know what you want."
"I don't want…"
Yan Nuan sniggered, "First Madam, it would be best if you came clean. Don't say you came to visit just to check up on me. It would be even more believable if you said you came to check how far you attempt on my life worked."
Li Wenna backed away at Yan Nuan's words and Yan Nuan furrowed her brows at the sight. She had only said those words to irritate the other party. But seeing her reaction, Yan Nuan was even more sure that this stepmother of hers was guilty.
"How could you say that, Yehan?"
Yan Nuan smiled. "It seems that Madam Yan had forgotten what kind of person I am after you were restricted to the West courtyard. Is there something I don't dare to say or do?"
Seeing that Yan Nuan was frank with her words, Li Wenna had no choice but to say her mind. "I need your help."
"And that is?" Yan Nuan asked lazily fiddling with her nails.
"I need you to help me talk to your father."
"Regarding?"
"Your elder brother…"
Step brother," Yan Nuan corrected.
"Your step brother. He really can't continue being in that dilapidated City C anymore. He is suffering. Can you please plead to your father on my behalf and tell him to bring Yan He back home."
Yan Nuan finally lifted her head up. Her attention was finally piqued. She smiled, tilting her head innocently, "Why would Madam think I can persuade father? Moreover, what assurance do I have that when I do help you, dad will not get mad at me and send me there too."
