Chapter 70 - The First Generation Part 5

As we both walked towards the tower I could only think of one single question that lingered in my head like an annoying fly that was buzzing right next to my ear for minutes, why was Green still at level 27? I looked at Green's back and thought of several possibilities as to the reason for his weakness.

"It seems to me that you want to ask me something" Green said as he looked back and stared into my eyes with his insect eyes. His eyes, though not human, showed signs of curiosity and gentleness in them. "Yes, I'm curious as to why you're still level 27 and not at least level 70 or so" I said as I stared at him expecting to answer with something profound like it was a curse or because he had to sacrifice his level for something. But what he said confused me.

"What is your level Red?" He said as he stopped walking and turned around to face me. "Huh, it's level 40, why?" I said as I stared at him waiting for his answer. He looked up towards the demonic red sky that held an eerie feeling to it and raised his insect-like hands towards the dark sky.

"Have you heard the term 'A trained dog can bite their master's hand unless they're leashed'" Green suddenly said as he slowly clenched his hand. "I would say I have not heard of that term ever being used" I said as I saw him clench his hands and stare at the ground. "It was a term that was spoken by our master when me and all the other colors were called by him. At first I did not understand what it meant until White and Purple reached level 30 before me and Yellow. When they reached that level they received a notification telling them that they were at the temporary level cap. We asked the world master what the meaning of this was and he said the same thing as he said to us when he summoned us before."

As he said those last words it didn't take me long until I realized what the world master meant. "Seeing how your mana suddenly changed means you probably understood the same meaning that we interpreted. We can not reach beyond level 30 because you are level 40, in short we are the dogs while you are the leash that the world master holds."

"So, for the past year none of you could level up past level 30, but that doesn't explain why you aren't level 30" I said as I stared at Green who only smiled. "When we discovered the meaning of our master's words I didn't bother to level up more and focused on other things while the other three tried to find ways to raise their levels. Funnily enough I was made a Demon Lord during the time of me focusing on other things and was made in charge of the Demonic Library. During that time hundreds of demons that focused on magic or were seeking knowledge that was held in the library pledged their loyalty to me and became High ranking demons that protect and take care of the library while I'm away."

"Speaking of which'' Green said before snapping his finger. Suddenly a blood red circle surrounded us both before our surroundings changed from the depressing lands of the Demon World to a simple room that had a table, two chairs, a demon that wore a brown tattered hood. I could see hundreds or thousands of tentacles underneath the brown hood all connecting back to a single orb that was in the middle of its chest.

"Can you get me a cup of tea" Green said to the demon, the demon bowed before walking out of the room leaving Red and Green by themselves. "That was one of the many demons that took care of the library for me," Green said as he sat down on one of the chairs before indicating to me to sit in one of them. I obliged and sat down onto the chair that was across from him.

As we waited for the demon to come back with the tea, Green stared at me for a couple seconds before speaking, "I'm going to go straight to the point, why are you in the Demon Realm?" I stare at Green for a second before opening my mouth "there is about to be a Demonic war with the human realm in a week's time." Hearing what I said I could feel the air and everything beyond the room I was in ceased all movement.

"What did you say?" Green said as he stared at me with an emotion I have never seen, it was a mix of bloodlust that I would see when I fought as well as excitement. "There will soon be a Demonic war with the humans and I am asking if you wish to aid me in the upcoming battle" I said and before I could react Green suddenly got up and grabbed my hand.

His eyes quickly changed from their dark demonic look before turning red and then back to black. "You aren't lying, there is a Demonic war and you are going to lead your Root army into the battle" Green said as he let go of my hand and sat back down. He sat there for seconds not moving, not speaking, and not even breathing. As he sat I could see his Demonic mana fluctuating as if excited about something. Green suddenly smiled and looked at me, "so what do you need from me?"

I smiled as me and Green spoke between one another, we mainly spoke about how his forces would do a bit of espionage and relay information back to the Demonic Cult as well as other things. As we spoke the Demon that went out to get Green tea came back with a small pristine cup that held a pink liquid inside. "Thank you, oh and can you contact the Demon King and tell him that a Demonic War is going to happen soon" Green said as he took a sip from his cup.

The Demon looked at Green for a couple of seconds before quickly bowing their head and leaving the room as if there was a fire inside the room. "Oh by the way, did you choose the Demonic God that will symbolize the 8th sin yet" Green said as he took a sip from his cup.

"What do you mean by 'symbolize the 8th sin'" I said confused as to why Green said that. Green stopped sipping his tea before looking back at me with a look of confusion, "you have chosen a Demonic God that will lend its power to you and those that embody that sin, correct?"

"I don't remember ever contacting a Demonic God, or a God of any kind" I said which made Green stare at me with disbelief. "So when you were fighting my warriors outside, you didn't use a Demonic God's power to kill them, not even against my Cursed Soldier," Green said as he looked at me, hoping what he thought wasn't true. "Yeah, I didn't use any God given abilities, only the strength and abilities I had mustered up" I said and Green's face darkened.

"My Cursed Soldier couldn't even handle a warrior that didn't gain an ability from a god, '' Green said as he stared at the dark ceiling for a bit before looking back at me. "Get up, we're going to get you an audience with the Demonic Gods" Green said before standing up from his chair and walking towards the exit of the room. "Wait, we're going to get the audience of the Demonic Gods right now" I said as I followed behind Green who exited the room and walked through a hallway. The hallway wasn't very extravagant, the only major thing I could say about it is that it had torches sticking out of its wall that brightened up the hallway.

"Doesn't getting an audience with a God requires a large amount of dedication and loyalty to it? '' I said as I walked past a couple Demons who were carrying several boxes. "For regular Gods that humans and such pray to, it would require that. But for us Demons that isn't the case, all we require is the body to handle their power, a sacrifice that is of equal or greater value than that of a God's time, and a title that would attract their attention. Thankfully since you're a Sin you should have the body to handle a God's power and I thankfully have enough resources to buy the time of a Demonic God" Green said as we soon stopped in front of a room.

As I looked at the room I could see a huge amount of Demonic Mana circling the inside of the room. Each strand of it held enough energy inside of it that it seemed as though it was truly living.

"Hey green, what is in that room?" I said as I took a step back at the sight of the huge amount of Demonic Mana. "That would be the warrior I captured," he said with a smile on his face.
