Chapter 8 - Chapter 8: the second stage of training

"The moonlight is beautiful today." Akina lay on the soft grass, watching the stars, which reflected their beautiful light on her soft face and pink hair, and beside her was Kotaro, who put his arms under his head, enjoying the quiet of the night.

Near them a tent has been set up, inside of which Ryota was sleeping, and in front of it a group of burning wood, but Caesar was not around, but entered to explore the forest.

"Are you happy Akina?" Kotaro broke the silence and spoke with his eyes closed.

Akina replied with a smile: "Why not be so."

"I don't know, maybe you miss your family and the city."

"I disowned that family a long time ago, but the city would have no life for me if you weren't around," Akina felt ashamed as she spoke.

Kotaro did not reply, but his face turned red as well.

Two days later, in the early morning

"Today we will start the second stage and it will be combat training," Cesar explained.

"Yeah? I thought we'd learn to control mana, so I got excited," Kotaro was disappointed by Cesar' talk.

Cesar saw this and said with a serious face: "To benefit from magic you must be able to use it in combat, otherwise you cannot win."

"So how are we going to learn fighting techniques," Ryota thought.

"Unlike before, this time you will train with me by fighting face to face, but don't worry, I will go easy on you at first."

"If you are ready, attack me at any time and with all you have," Cesar announced the beginning of the fight.

Without further delay, Kotaro and Ryota rushed first, trying to throw a strong punch in Cesar's face, but the latter managed to avoid it backwards. Ryota gave up, but then Kotaro approached by sending a side kick that Cesar overtook by jumping high and landing over Kotaro's shoulder, which led to the latter's surprise: "How did he get here?"

Kotaro waved again to push Cesar off his shoulder and then shouted, "Ryota, Akina, this Cesar is too strong so we have to...."

"Ugh." Kotaro groaned and put his hands on his stomach due to Cesar's heavy and sudden punch.

"Uncle Cesar, what did you do, it was so cruel" Akina grieved and started to help Kotaro get up.

Cesar did not care and said, "The first lesson you must learn is not to wait for the enemy to plan against you."

"duff, duff"

"What are you doing, leave my hair," Akina said as Cesar grabbed her hair and lifted her off the floor.

"The second lesson is not to allow the enemy to heal himself or his comrades." After raising her high, Cesar grabbed Akina's leg with his other hand and sent her flying for a few meters before she collapsed to the ground.

"Fuck, what do I do now?" Ryota silently watched his friends Kotaro and Akina suffer a crushing defeat, so he tried to run away so as not to be exposed to the same situation.

"Clack." As Ryota ran, he found himself bumping into Cesar's body.

"To where?" Cesar spoke with a terrified look on his face.

"No, sir." Ryota's body shivered in fright.

"So you're the type to cheat and use your brain to survive."

"But sometimes even your mind won't work." After he spoke, Cesar slapped hard, getting Ryota to fall.

And so the training day for the three ended after five minutes of its starting.

After a day the three finally woke up: "Oh, my head hurts."

"Where is that old monster?" Ryota got angry but in the next moment Cesar appeared in front of him and smiled: "Are you looking for me?"

Ryota panicked and retreated.

After he saw that they all woke up, Cesar's face changed and spoke: "Come on, get up, we'll finish what we started yesterday."

"Won't you let us rest a little, because of someone we were about to die the day before," Akina reproached.

As soon as Akina finished what she was saying, Cesar rushed in and attacked.

Kotaro saw this and tried to go help her, but how could he be faster than Cesar who had already arrived in front of her.

Cesar grabbed Akina's neck with his strong hand and kept pressing so hard that she almost choked, letting her fall unconscious as before.

"Uncle Cesar, didn't you say you'd go easy on us," Kotaro said.

"If you can't keep up with me when I use one percent of my strength, then there's no use in you and forget the idea of revenge." Cesar angered: "And the quickest way to learn is to be beaten and hurt, so that your senses are sharpened and your body gains experience."

"Talk time is over, I'm going to attack" Cesar attacked, but not Kotaro, but Ryota, who took advantage of Cesar's preoccupation and ran away like the last time, but unfortunately for him, he was under his attention the whole time.

Cesar flew parallel to the grassland towards Ryota who was continuing to run away without knowing that the person he considered a monster was coming at him.

"Heh, looks like he didn't find out about me..." Ryota turned around to be surprised to see Cesar coming after him.

"Pause" Less than a second later, Cesar's head hit Ryota's back, causing him to fall to the ground.

"There is only you left." Cesar turned around without caring for Ryota and faced Kotaro again: "Come and attack me, I won't move."

Kotaro advanced, but not recklessly as the previous time, but slowly and calmly, trying to read Cesar's position to find any gap, but the latter was standing normally, as many gaps appeared, which confused Kotaro, knowing that Cesar would not make him hit him easily, but this is a trap to lure him.

After many plans in his head, Kotaro finally decided and began to rush forward without any attacking position in order not to make it easier for Cesar to know how to stop him.

"Good," Cesar smiled.

"Uncle, I'm coming!" Kotaro shouted in a fighting spirit and attacked.

As soon as the distance between him and Cesar reduced to a foot and a half, Kotaro attacked with a left punch in the direction of Cesar's chin, which raised the latter's astonishment, as Kotaro was always attacking with his right hand.

Cesar responded with his left hand to Kotaro's attack.

Kotaro's attack did not end, but he moved his left foot and tried to attack his opponent's sensitive area.

Cesar realized that and intercepted him with his right hand.

"I've restricted your movement, Uncle," Kotaro smiled. With his previous attacks, Cesar had used both of his hands to defend, and since he couldn't use his legs, that meant he had no way left to counter another attack.

Cesar smiled at this moment: "Isn't that the same for you?".
