Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: outside the city

"That's it." After accepting Kotaro's request, Cesar tells Akina and Ryota the truth.

"We're leaving in two hours, so go get your things and whatever you need," Kotaro said.

Two hours later, everyone met in front of Kotaro's house.

"Where are we getting out of the city from," Akena asked.

"Don't you know Akina, that the door was put for getting out of it?" Ryota sneered.

"Haha" a laugh followed from Kotaro.

"The girl is right, the city gate has been closed for a long time," Cesar said.

"Why?" Kotaro stop laughing then asked.

"To find out, I would have to go back in time a little bit, 200 years ago, at a time when the world was not under the control of the organization I told you about, Pace City did not have the walls that you see now because at that time there was no danger to protect it from it, but it was different 20 years later, due to the formation of the Yamikara organization and its declaration of world domination." Cesar sat down and continued his explanation: "At the same time, another organization was formed, later known as Gerado, and stood in the face of the Yamikara."

It was this organization that built the walls of the last city that stood against the Yamikara, and it was later known as the city of Pace.

"Beside the walls, a great gate to the city was also erected, although it was never opened, but the chief of Gerado had hoped that one day the Yamikara would fall and the city of Pace would be connected to the world."

"I can't believe what I'm hearing" The three were surprised by Cesar's talk and the truth about the world.

"It is natural that you do not know this, as all the books that recorded the true history were burned for fear that the new generation would know that they are under attack by the Yamikara, and anxiety and panic spread within the city."

Kotaro listened to Cesar and then spoke angrily: "If that organization really protected the city, my mother wouldn't have been killed."

"It happened because all of its members were also killed by the Yamikara."

"Really! How did this happen?" Akina asked.

"40 years ago, after many battles, the captain of Gerado was finally able to overthrow the captain of the Yamikara."

"But…" Ryota understood.

"But it was too late because all the other members of the organization had been killed in the previous battles and the leader of the Yamikara had a newborn heir."

"Is this kid the captain of the Yamikara now?" Kotaro guessed.

"Yes," Cesar replied.

"And what happened to the leader of the unknown organization?" Akina asked.

"With his severe injuries, it was almost impossible to escape from the Yamikara members, so no one knows what happened to him at that time."

"We used to live in a world we know nothing about." Ryota looked toward the city sarcastically.

"Come on, let's go now." Cesar got up and called everyone.

"Hold each other's hands, and let one of you put his other hand on my shoulder."

Kotaro grabbed Cesar's shoulder with one hand and Ryota's hand with his other hand, and the latter was holding Akina's hand with his other hand.

Then, with Caesar's approval, a white aura of light began to emanate from his body, spreading around the others as well. Then the four began to quickly climb away from the surface of the earth. With Caesar's direction, the mass of light surrounding everyone shot up flying over the city wall, and as soon as they found themselves outside, the light began to descend. Toward the earth, after descending safely, the aura of light began to fade until it disappeared.

"What was this?"

"Wonderful".

"This is my first time flying."

As soon as the light faded, the three began to ask Cesar what he had done just before.

"Do not rush, in these two years I will teach you everything I know about this matter," Cesar said.

"Really, that's great," Akina said.

"Hey Kotaro, Akina, look at this." Ryota was pointing at the grassy plains that stretched beyond sight around the city, and in front of the city's closed door, a dirt road cut through the grassland continuing far away.

"So this is the view outside the city," Kotaro said, surprised.

"Oh, where are we going?" Akina could not be patient and asked.

"There is a forest east of the city 200 km away, we will reach it in six days if we walk, but we will go by running " replied Cesar.

"What!! Are you crazy, in my whole life the longest distance I have run was 4 km and you are telling me we will run twice this distance" Kotaro Yan looked at opposed.

"Kotaro is right, we'll die before we get there," Ryota said as well.

"Shut up and do as I say."

"Don't you want to get stronger, then enough moaning?"

"Don't worry, we'll rest from time to time."

"Now prepare yourselves, we'll go in 1 2 3"

After that, everyone ran along the dirt road that tied the end of it to the eastern forest, and as the cold breeze hit their faces, the three of them were

doing their best.

Twenty minutes later one of them reached his limits and collapsed on the ground, it was Akina that Cesar carried on his back and he kept following the others and ten minutes later Ryota fell too, As for Kotaro, he had some stamina to carry on for a bit, but even he had limits and that's how this latter got tired as well.

As the three fell unconscious, Cesar said: "It is good that they have a good endurance, but this is not enough."

"Shit, we fainted." by taking a rest, everyone woke up.

"Hey you guys, get ready for another round, the day isn't over yet," Cesar, who was sitting far away, spoke

"That's unreasonable," Ryota said to himself.

The three continued running again and resting after getting tired, continuing in this way until the sun set and night came.

"Today's results were as follows: the first Kotaro with a distance of 60 km, the second Ryota with a distance of 45 km and finally Akina with a distance of 38 km," Cesar said, then added sarcastically: "But don't think that you have achieved anything just by covering this short distance, so you have to do your best."

After gathering the wood and making a fire, everyone camped and lay on the green grass of the plains, eating some of the food they had brought before leaving the city.

"How beautiful it is to meditate after being tired." Kotaro looked at the stars that lit up the night sky.

"Tomorrow I'll make sure to pass you two," Akina said defiantly.

"When I got stronger, I will punch that old man for what he did to me," Ryota said.

"Stop complaining Ryota, we're not solving an equation here, so it won't be easy for you," Kotaro sneered.

"Shut up and go to sleep, we'll start early tomorrow," Cesar said.

The next day, at eight o'clock

Everyone woke up to Caesar's screams and at his command the three started running again.

"Hah, hah, it's finally night." Kotaro was tired after they ran for a whole day.

"Wow, I just caught up with Ryota today." Akina forgot her tiredness from joy.

"Well, today you have crossed most of the road and there are only 9 kilometers until we reach the forest," explained Cesar, then pointed to Ryota: "And you try harder tomorrow unless you don't want to have dinner."

"Fuck that old man," Ryota whispered inside.

the next day

Everyone reached their destination after two and a half days of running.

"Wow, how wide and bigger is this forest." Kotaro was surprised after seeing the forest whose trees were taller than the sky and wider than rivers.

"Welcome to the Eastern Forest, 'the forest of beasts'," Caesar said excitedly.
