Chapter 8 - QI Refining

'Finally, he left... He only wanted the Power of Darkness for himself. These power-seeking elders are making me nauseated.' Arslan thought as Elder Song closed the door of the infirmary room,

'Now I can focus on cultivating. My meridians are totally fine and my internal organs too, so I will be able to start immediately with the QI refining session.' Even if his body was hurting in its every part, he decided to go outside to cultivate, in order to feel better the cool air of the evening. In this way, he could become one with the darkness of the night.

He was careful not to get caught and, once he got out of the building, he hid where no lights could reach him, then he sat down and began circulating a huge amount of QI gathered inside him. Having gathered it for so many years made it more stable and easier to refine. His refining pace was unbelievable. Anyone seeing him cultivating would have thought to be daydreaming.

'This refining pace and quality are amazing. How did my great grandfather discover such a terrifying cultivation technique? He was a truly outstanding talent, I just hope to be talented enough to be worthy of being his great-grandson.' Arslan thought as he was more and more focused on his cultivation. A whirlwind of darkness of increasing size surrounded him.

After some hours, Arslan's darkness generated a sudden strong wind. The trees near him were bent to its strength, while the leaves were plucked away. At that moment, Arslan's crimson eyes shined brighter than ever, piercing through his own darkness. He became an Early-stage Earth level,

'Finally, I did it! The strength I can feel is enormous compared to what I felt before. My body is ten times sturdier and the QI that now I can use is way more than that of a Human level cultivator. If I had this strength against Walter, I would have beaten him with just one move!' Arslan was amazed by his own level of power,

'I don't even feel pain in my body anymore. I had this suspect earlier, but now I'm sure... this cultivation method definitely has healing abilities,' Arslan realized as he smiled,

'In a few days, I should be able to reach the Middle stage... The time for my revenge is nearing.' He concluded, clenching his left fist, as he thought to Robert and Troy. After stabilizing his QI, he headed once again to the infirmary room allocated to him, in order to avoid troubles from the infirmary staff. The next day he would have been discharged anyway, so there was no need to attract unwanted attention.

Troy, in the meantime, came back to the River residence,

'Now that night has come, I should be able to enter Arslan's room without anyone noticing it,' And so he did. As he entered he realized how shabby his room was, 'Surely a room worthy of a trash like him.' he thought, while he began looking for the book everywhere, but paying attention not to make any noise.

Half an hour passed,

'Where the f*ck is that book?! How is it possible that I can't find it anywhere?!' Troy was starting to lose patience as his research wasn't going as planned at all. Then he suddenly heard a sound outside the room.

At that moment, a huge thunderbolt struck in the sky. 'A lightning? Wasn't the sky clear of clouds till a moment ago?' Troy wondered. Its light was so bright that it seemed to be daylight and it made Troy notice that a figure was outside the room watching inside. His body was paralyzed, as he continued observing the golden eyes of that person staring at him from behind the window placed near the door. His brain went blank all of a sudden and couldn't think of anything. Then, the figure spoke,

"Big brother, is that you?"

As Troy heard those words coming from a cute voice, he understood that it was Arslan's sister. Then he relaxed a bit, 'F*ck, she had to come here right now?!' He thought in frustration as he started walking towards the wooden door, near which she was standing, 'By the way, weren't her eyes brown?' He thought, without giving too much importance to this detail.

"No Elma, it is me, Troy." He said as he opened the door. He found himself in front of the little figure of the girl, 'Huh? Her eyes are brown now... maybe I saw wrong before.'

"Oh, it was you then. I wondered why big brother would have come here at this late hour when he should have been at the Academy. Shouldn't you be there too?"

"Y-Yeah, indeed, you are right, but... you see, your brother asked me to bring him his cultivation book that he forgot here. Do you perhaps know where it could be?" Troy asked, trying to get some information out of her, 'Maybe she knows something.'

"No, I'm sorry, I don't know. He never talks to me about his cultivation, even if I ask him every time about it, he doesn't tell me anything. He doesn't understand how worried of him I am!" She said as she pouted and kicked a pebble on the ground.

'Damn it, she is useless.' He thought as he made a face of disdain,

"I see, then I will tell him I didn't find it anywhere. Goodnight Elma." He said as he sighed and passed by her with his hands in his pockets.

She got a bit startled by this sudden departure and her face showed her surprise,

"Ah... Goodnight! Say hi to my brother for me!" She said while waving at him with a smile on her face.

He didn't bother looking back and just answered,

"I will for sure." As his expression got gloomy, since he didn't find what he came home for, 'Don't worry, I will pay him a visit soon...'

After that resultless speech with the young girl, he headed back to the Imperial Academy once again,

'I will make him spill liters of blood if he doesn't tell me where the f*ck he learnt those techniques from.' He thought as he clenched his fists and gritted his teeth.

Elma stopped waving her hand and watched him from distance, in silence, with an unperturbed face.
