Xavier started his drive to one of his buildings. He choose the closest one to masked because of his company and would slow down at intervals to check on Yvonne and adjust her posture. Finally, he got home. After parking his car, he helped her out of the car, and with her body in his arms, he walked towards the main building and made use of the control at the door, he activated its electricity.
The whole building brightened up and Xavier walked towards the glass door, which slid open as he walked closer. He didn't stop in the living room. He adjusted Yvonne in his arms and ascended the stairs. Finally, on the first floor, he opened the second door, the one right next to his room, and took long strides towards the bed after putting on the light.
Xavier threw the covers to the other side of the bed and gently lay her down. Now he had no reason to leave her mask on, she was sleeping in one of his beds today.
Taking off her mask, he was wowed even more. Not only did she have a perfect body, but her face was also perfect, making her the dazzler he had imagined her to be. Or perhaps, even better than he imagined. How could she be so pretty even in her sleep? It didn't look like she had a face job or anything but he was sure she would make it to the top on the list of the perfect faces in the world, or at the very least, the nation.
Xavier tucked the lone hair strand in her face behind her ear and unconsciously, he ran his fingers on her face stroking her cheek and smiling. Suddenly he withdrew his hand. What was he doing? For someone who wasn't a strong believer in love at first sight, he was ogling over a lady he knew nothing about. 'No, he was just attracted to her' he subconsciously replied and he hastily walked out of the room.
Back downstairs, Xavier slipped into the kitchen and drowned a warm glass of milk down his throat, something he does every night before going to bed. Then he browsed his phone for a while before turning off the lights and heading back upstairs with bottled water.
At his door, he hesitated. He was torn between checking up on Yvonne in the next room or going straight to bed. Finally, he walked into his room, taking a mental note to check on her after refreshing. Starting with his coat, he took off his clothing, wrapped a towel around his waist, and stepped into the bathroom to take a quick shower.
Within five minutes, he was done. He took out a fresh set of pajamas and put them on. With a towel around his head, he tried drying his hair, too lazy to use the hair dryer. Then he stepped out of the room into Yvonne's.
She looked like she was having a good sleep as she was smiling. Xavier didn't know when his face broke into a smile too. He walked towards the vanity table, picked a hair net in one of its drawers, and walked back to her. Crouching down, he took her heels off her slender feet and put them away on the shoe rack. Then picking the blanket, he drew it up to her chin, tucking her in and putting the hair net on her.
However, Xavier was about to stand when she began to sleep talk. It looked like she was having a nightmare because her forehead was creased and she began to shake her head. Xavier became scared. 'Was she having an attack or something?' he had no idea and blamed himself for bringing her home. He should have logged her into a hotel room.
"Hey, are you okay?" he asked, shaking her body and attempting to wake her.
"Don't go, please" she held his right hand and wind their fingers together, crying in her sleep. She kept repeating this over and over, clutching his hand even tighter, to the extent they would get bruised if she didn't stop, but then, she was in her subconscious state, unaware of what she was doing. But her grip was very strong. How was she that strong for a female?
"Hey" he began. "I'm not going anywhere, I'm right here. As long as you want me, I'm right here". he kept stroking her hair as he repeated this over and over.
Was he truly saying that to a stranger? Xavier couldn't believe himself. No doubt, he was smitten by her. He tried convincing himself otherwise, telling himself it was due to her being in a vulnerable state. But, of course, he knew better. And thankfully, his trick worked like magic. Her cries soon turned into small sobs, and gradually into sniffs before she quieted down. It looked like she enjoyed the way he stroked her hair too as she pushed further into his hand. However, he just chuckled and continued to stroke.
Xavier tried untangling their hands after a few minutes, but it was still the same. She sure has got a firm grip. There was no way he would untangle without disrupting her sleep. So he sat there, watching her sleep.
Head on the bed, back against the closest cushion, and hands locked, it didn't take long before Xavier fell asleep with a smile on his face. The day had started long, but the night, even though short, would undoubtedly be the starting point of something.
