When morning came, Captain Smith introduced everyone else who lived at Quebec Castle to Alexander and with it came teaching Alexander who the students were. In the entrance hall, he had asked them line up alphabetically and so that was how Alexander was introduced to the forty ten-year old children. The students were Agatha King, Amy Ruston, Anne Davis, Annick Taylor, Beatrice Hepburn, Benedict Mile, Burton Marx, Camille Mason, Chantal Sheridan, Daphne Dennis, David Hiddleston, Dominique Bergman, Edward Bro, Emilie Kelly, Eugene Welles, Frances Dietrich, Frank Peck, Frederick Fonda, Hercules Aguirre, Humphrey Leach, Ian Smith, Isabelle Gustafsson, James Brando, Lucille Stevens, Margaret Lansbury, Marie-Odile Mortenson, Marion Olivier, Niall Hirst, Nicole Ball, Padmavati Adhikari, Paul Currie, Philip Holder, Rainer Bell, Shirley Perske, Spencer Chaplin, Ted Krantz, Tony Hussein, Virginia West, Vivian Gish and William Cagney.
Of the twenty girls, Agatha, Nicole, Beatrice and Camille were English, Chantal, Anne, Amy, Dominique, Isabelle, Marie-Odile, Padmavati, Annick, Frances, Lucille, Emilie, Virginia and Shirley were Canadian, Daphne was from Hong Kong, Margaret was Irish and Vivian was from India while of the twenty boys, Hercules was Spanish, Ted, James, Frederick, William, Frank, Eugene and Burton were Canadian, Niall was Irish, Ian, David, Benedict, Edward, Rainer, Tony, Philip, Humphrey, Spencer and Marion were English and with Paul coming from a town where the borders of the three nations of the United Kingdom met, he was just considered British. Daphne was Chinese, Beatrice and Anne were black, Padmavati had been born in India, Frances had been born in Germany, Emilie had been born in France, Edward was of Danish heritage, Rainer was of German heritage and Tony was Arabic. Overall, the students were quite diverse.
Their teachers Ms. Severine Burnett and Mr. Adrian Walters both stood to the side. The two had been friends for many years, as close as siblings and worked well with one another. Other teachers included Mrs. Marilyn Ayres, Mr. Freddy Asquith and Ms. Dido Watson, who were all currently on leave.
The uniforms of the girls consisted of an orange dress with white collars and cuffs, red belts, bow ties and, when out, red straw hats with red ribbons while the boys wore orange shirts with red trousers. When they went out into Oshawa, the boys would wear red jackets and black caps while the girls would wear white gloves and little capes that reached their elbows. While the boys may have looked handsome and the girls pretty, Alexander found it so confusing and even with the diversity of the students, Alexander found himself confused more than once.
"Alexander, find Agatha." Instructed Captain Smith. Alexander immediately walked over to the students, yet he did not find Agatha, but rather Nicole, British like Agatha, yet most definitely not Agatha. Very patient with the caracal, Captain Smith then uttered: "Alexander, that is Nicole. Find Agatha." Alexander began pacing back and forth, keeping his eyes on the students. When he saw a girl with bright orange hair, he walked over to her and meowed. "Good boy, Alexander! Now, find Ian!" The location of Ian was something that Alexander accomplished on the first try. He merely approached the boy with similar facial features to Captain Smith's and Alan's and meowed. Smiling, Captain Smith commented: "It is good you can identify Agatha and my other nephew, now how about non-family members? Alexander, find Hercules."
Alexander began pacing back and forth, looking upon the faces of the students… Which one was Hercules? Hercules was a boy's name therefore Hercules was a boy. Yet, which of the twenty boys was he?
Scratching his right cheek, Alan asked his uncle: "Do you think he will be able to identify Hercules, Uncle Kull?"
"I should hope so, Alan." Replied Captain Smith. "If Darius was able to and Roxana can, then so can Alexander."
"That is encouraging." Commented Gemma, standing with her father as they watched Alexander try to find Hercules.
"Hold on a moment!" exclaimed Mr. Cook, pointing at Alexander as he meowed at Hercules. "The young lad's done it!" Dark-haired Hercules knelt and gave Alexander a pat on the head, something that the caracal reciprocated by rubbing his head against Hercules'. Mr. Cook could only chuckle and say: "Yes, sir, Kull, I'd say Alexander will certainly do well knowing the students."
"Hold that thought, Robert." Uttered Captain Smith. "There are still seven and thirty more students to do."
"We're not counting you telling him Agatha is Agatha and not Nicole then?" inquired Alan.
"No, Alan, we are not."
"Oh, good lord!" exclaimed Alan, half-groaning. "I should have brought something to read like 'Ivanhoe' or 'Le Morte d'Arthur' or 'Quentin Durward.'"
"The only ones required to be here are Alexander, myself and the students." Stated Captain Smith, before saying: "Alexander, find Beatrice." Alexander proceeded to walk to Beatrice and meow at her, causing Captain Smith to smile. Alexander was very intelligent, a few mistakes when it came to identification excluded. Looking to Ms. Burnett and Mr. Walters, Captain Smith then said: "Severine, Adrian, go have a cup of tea, you may take some rest." The two teachers exited the entrance hall and Captain Smith then said: "Alexander, find—"
"Just a reminder, Captain Smith, but Ms. Lombard is going to be arriving this afternoon for tea." Said Gemma, as she and Alan departed the entrance hall together.
