Kian ran through the apartment, quickly tidying up around the living room area before showing Jaiel to a seat. It was not as if he and his dad were slobs, but leaving early and coming home late had left the area without much tending to.
He smiled and walked to the fridge to select a few items that were edible and could go well together, chopping up a few vegetables that he deemed still usable. He made a few dishes of fried and steamed vegetables with noodles on the side.
It was modest but at least it had some color to it and flavor.
Jaiel came over and whistled at the look of the food already placed on the table, ready to be eaten.
"That looks really great Kian."
Kian almost dropped his fork at the sound of his name spoken with the clear voice of Jaiel.
He smiled again.
"Yeah it is not much, but dig in!" he sounded cheerful and started with his own food.
They ate together in silence, and Kian packed a box with leftovers leaving it in the fridge for his dad.
"Where are your parents?" Jaiel had peeked at the place, and Kian felt a bit embarrassed at the modest look, there weren't many items or furniture, but there were what was needed for a decent comfortable place.
Kian brushed off the question with a, "just my dad and me here, he works pretty late into the evening."
Kian put away the dishes and brought Jaiel some water.
"So it is just you and me here?"
Jaiel had said it like it was nothing, but Kian suddenly got flustered and dropped the glass. The water spilled over the floor as the glass instantly shattered.
"Don't move!"
Kian bend down to pick up the pieces, but Jaiel had stopped his hand, pulling him away. He was held in an embrace and the sudden movement made Kian's heart speed up, looking up at Jaiel surprised.
Why did he have to have suck handsome features.
He clicked his tongue annoyed at his own thoughts.
But the scent coming from Jaiel had him sniff in an extra time. Hoping it hadn't been noticed he continued nonchalantly.
"It is ok I'll clean it up, It is not such a big deal to worry about."
Jaiel let go of him and rubbed the crease between his eyebrows.
"Yeah, you are right, I don't know why I reacted that way."
Jael looked openly confused at his own actions, and helped Kian clean up the mess quietly.
"Hey, I was thinking of going to a match tomorrow, would you like to come with me?"
Jaiel looked at him expectantly.
"Sure, what kind of match?"
Kian replied wiping away the last of the water that was spilled.
"It is a sparring match between Arnie and someone from a different gym out of town, I got a few tickets. Apparently he had hoped i would bring a few girls to cheer for him, but I don't really know anyone who would go."
Kian put his hand in his pocket and held on to the note that had been there all day, taking it out.
"One of the girls in class wanted me to give you this, and ask you if you would exchange numbers."
Kian pretended like it was nothing and handed the note over to Jaiel, like it was perfectly normal.
Jaiel looked at him and took the note, looking down at the numbers on it.
"Why is she giving this to you?" He asked.
"We go to the same school, apparently someone has seen us together this week, and now they are hoping I can be the messenger or something."
He shrugged it off.
"We go to the same school?"
Jaiel smiled and looked at him.
"I didn't know, hey, lets go together after the training in the morning at the gym, I thought you went somewhere else, you always took a different tour."
Kian hesitated then responded.
"It is to avoid Chad and his friends on the way there just in case, I am not ready to face them yet."
"Well let's start going together, they seem to be afraid to do anything, unless you are alone, and I assume they are the reason why you started at the gym."
It was more of a statement than a question, he had obviously seen the state Kian had been in both before and after Jaiel had interfered in the fight with Chad.
"Yeah..." Kian murmured as a reply.
"Well let's meet up tomorrow and go to the match together, I'll meet you at Station XX at 10 am."
Jaiel was already on his way to the door, and Kian saw him out after agreeing to the meetup.
Jaiel walked the streets back to his home, it was significantly bigger than Kian's and was an actual house.
He went to his room going straight for the closet. 'Did I have something good to wear.'
He felt a sting in his chest reminding himself he was not lacking in anything, of course he would have something to wear.
His family made sure wherever he went he would look like the heir to some fancy company. Though that was exactly what he was.
However his parents didn't know where he went after school. As long as he brought home the grades they wanted, and never caused any issues, then he was pretty much left for himself.
He threw a few clothes at the end of the bed and started undressing getting ready for the night.
They didn't know he was spending every day on a crude sport as they had called it, when he had mentioned it 3 years prior. His younger self had been awestruck by a match he had seen, wanting to try it out himself.
Apparently it was not noble or fancy enough, though they had offered him fencing lessons or archery, which he had in a fake way politely declined.
Even at 14, he knew what was expected of his behavior and how to avoid troubles.
But Kian, he had decided one day to just join, then had actually done it, and persisted.
He knew the guy was scrawny and shorter, but in the last week, he had noticed that Kian had sucked in any information he had given, and applied it instantly while practicing.
He was honestly amazed at the stubbornness and determination, and it had only strived himself to continue every day without slacking off.
At the same time in a room away from Jaiel, a confused Kian was looking at the ceiling, his heart had been thumbing since Jaiel had left. 'This feeling... do I like him?' Sure he was handsome, and he had helped Kain a lot but was that all?
He was excited for the morning to come and had spent the good part of an hour to find something passable to wear.
Even if this wasn't a date for Jaiel, and he was basically just there to fill seats, Kian couldn't help but blush at the thought of going together. Though Jaiel was probably not gay like him, at least there should be nothing wrong with spending a day with a handsome guy.
He should try and get to know him, and also talk more himself, he thought.
He knew they had not really shared much, and he barely knew anything about Jaiel, but he wanted to, and this was the opportunity.
