It's been two years since Gabe gave me that promise ring and he's been true to his word.
I rented out my place and moved into his house several months later and every night, when he got back from work, he would wake me up and please me beyond my wildest dreams. The only time he would let me sleep was if I had a meeting the next morning.
We told Mia and Matt a few days after he gave me the ring and to my surprise, they'd already figured it out. Gabe hadn't seemed surprised that they knew but I was.
Mia chuckled and said it wasn't that hard to figure it out. One minute we were both as happy as kids in a toy store with an unlimited credit card, then we were miserable like our dog had just died, so she'd put two and two together.
Then a year after that, Gabe took me back to our spot on the beach where fairy lights were littered like fireflies. I was floored by the beauty everything felt so surreal but magical.
It was a beautifully romantic night. He walked me down a path of rose petals, that were scattered around and lined with flickering tiki torches, towards a heart-shaped arch. Which was where he dropped down to one knee.
The wedding had been simple but beautiful. We got married on that very spot about half a year later and his parents even came. I've had the chance to get to know his Mother and she turned out to be a nice person. His father was still icy but he didn't instantly walk out of the room anymore.
My father finally died a few months after that horrible visit and I had been a wreck. I had no idea it would hit me this hard. For years, I'd waited for him to die so I could truly be free from him but when it finally happened I was distraught. Despite what he did he was family, the only one I had.
Then came the reading of the will. He left me everything. The old house, some other properties I had no idea about and quite a large sum of money. It turned out they belonged to my mother and upon her death, I became the beneficiary. Since I was too young, Dad was the guardian of it all but couldn't do anything with them. He couldn't touch the money or sell the properties.
Gabe had said that explained why he'd beaten me so badly. It was like he was making sure when I became old enough he would still control all of it through me.
The lawyer had said that he could sell all the properties for me and I had readily agreed. I didn't want to have anything that reminded me of him. The amount, after everything was sold was staggering. So, I used the money on the wedding stating it was from my mother, not him.
Gabe was amazing through it all. He came with me to the funeral and every appointment with the lawyer. At night when I would cry he wouldn't tell me to stop, to not waste my tears on that man. Instead, he'd just held me. I'll forever love him for that.
He came with me to events at work which instantly made me popular. Everyone wanted to know how I met my hotter-than-hot lover. Mia would drag Matt along too so that he had someone to talk with. Though she needn't have bothered. Gabe wouldn't leave my side and would happily talk with my colleagues.
Not too long after our wedding, Mia and Matt had a little girl called Natalie and Gabe and I were her godparents. Mia had said that she named her little girl after the strongest guy she knew. I teared up when she told me that.
Now we were talking about possibly having a child of our own. I wasn't sure if I would be a good dad but Gabe kept assuring me I would be great, so I just hoped he would be right.
Life was getting better and better and I was a little scared that something would come and spoil it. Every day I was on cloud nine and every night I was driven wild with pleasure beyond my wildest dreams.
When I was in college, I never thought I would be in love with Gabriel Lopez, the resident playboy. Never did I think he would be interested in a boring professor like me. Now we couldn't imagine our lives without each other.
Gabe would visit me at work and we would make hot passionate love in my office. Then to play fair I would visit him and do the same. Neither of us could work without getting hard from the memories of him slamming me against the desk.
I can't wait for the years to come, hopefully, we will be able to add another little one to our family but for now, we will just make the most of every day together.
In love and happy.
