After Nier's body vanished from the chimney his soul lingered aimlessly around the chamber, the Necronomicon then quickly disbanded the bewitched cathedral's bishop corpse, and swung his cover around, all the way to chapter one:
"Soul transmigration." The bloody pages radiated.
The book knew of countless ways to get Nier's soul transported to another Universe. Reincarnation was another, although unfortunately, this universe wasn't within the Jade Emperor's rule, the gates of reincarnation would not open to Nier's soul, and besides, the Paragon's laws would never allow such a thing to happen. Thus, transmigration although has its drawbacks, was the choice he elected for his host.
And so the book drew Nier's soul inside him, latching it within a black page, and with that, he kickstarted the soul remolding ritual.
7 seals slinked their way into Nier's soul. The first one being the eye of Horus, a well-known symbol of protection belonging to the lost left eye of the Egyptian god Horus, second, came the Greek letter, 'Omega' representing the mighty Gods of Mount Olympus along with all their creations and enemies, third appeared a triple spiral symbol named the 'Triskelion' of the Celtic druids, fourth, came the 'Tomoe' symbol a three-dotted Japanese emblem signifying the continuity in life, fifth, arrived the mysterious Norse's 9 realms symbol the 'Valknut', sixth, appeared an 'Eastern dragon' which depicts none other than the Chinese realm core creature, and last showed up the sacred Aztec's Ollin symbol.
The seals melded with Nier's soul, giving it 7 different identities. It was known that each creature whether man or god possessed a universe seal or his existence in that same universe would never be allowed by the Paragon's counsel.
'Never be allowed', of course to the council only meant complete annihilation of what would they deem as a disturbance in the flow of time and space, even if that disturbance was a God.
Nier's soul, on the other hand, acquired 7 of them, making him the only soul with 7 different identities, serving as veritable denizenship to 7 different universes.
Hence, he now can be considered as a real multi-world variant.
After the merging ritual had been finally completed, Nier's soul was ousted out by the book to the outside world like a shooting meteor, only stopping when it reached an eldritch looking tree at the edge of the milky way universe, wherein its hollow, Nier soul plunged down, into a series of portals, and between what seemed like a web of unnumbered bubbles held together by strings that resembled golden veins.
The book also crossed with him, taking the chance to explain some of his long-held questions.
[All the bubbles you see are universes]
[The threads holding them together are called the strings of time and space]
[The universe we have just departed from is what The Paragon counsel call a slobber]
[There exist unnumbered slobbers, pointlessly cruising along the strings of time and space, waiting for the time when they will finally detonate, just for another batch of slobbers to slowly construct itself from their ash]
[As you already concluded the slobber you came from is caught in an enigmatic cycle that goes on and on, without a clear meaning nor an outcome]
[My bearers can never be in such a place. He shan't be a victim of such cold cosmic indifference]
[We as of now are marching away from all the slobbers, heading towards universes that never die. The primal Universes were they called. So grand, so vital were their influence that even the slobbers couldn't help but be affected by their power]
[And so your ancestors dreamed of those universes' Gods, whispered tales about their deeds, worshipped them even. Though, as sarcastic as it sounds, those same gods could never hear your forefathers' prayers]
[After all, the Universes had strict rules, established by none other than the Paragon sages themselves, which clearly started that blessings could never be given to the people outside a deity's domain]
Nier although couldn't possibly talk—his soul somehow understood the Necronomicon, as it kept drifting between countless universes, some noticeably bigger and some shinier than the others.
At some point in time, Nier took notice of a majestic strange-looking creature passing by, he could see that it was composed of a throng of blood-thirsty vertical eyes swarmed together in a shadow while hundreds of wings fluttered around them.
[Do not look at the eyes!]
[keep your attention away from them!]
The Necronomicon quickly warned.
Nier felt the amount of urgency in the book words, and at once shifted his attention ahead, trying to forget about the terrifying creature.
[What you Just encountered is called a Seraphon]
[The law enforcers of the Paragon]
[We are currently breaching the laws, we can't afford to let them know about our heavy offense]
Nier kept gliding through, bending space and time whenever he tramped, he could see now that the bubbles are getting gigantic, while the strings twitched harder than before.
Contrary, the Necronomicon glow has gotten severely weaker.
[The number of Seraphons keeps increasing]
[Hiding you from all of them had expended most of my power]
[Not to forget that I still need to find you a suitable body]
[I assume we are forced to drop off into a universe close to the greek one for your transmigration to be completed and shall travel to one of the 7 universes right after I recharge a bit of my power]
Seeing that Nier did not object, the book changed its direction, entering a radiant bubble right below them.
*****
Nier's conscience has vanished for a second before it slowly reassembled back—each fragment correctly placing itself as if someone shattered a mirror just to place every shard back in its original place.
He then, felt something warm dribble on his head, waking him up from his subtle slumber.
Feeling his face laid down on a cold cobbled street, he slowly opened his bleary eyes, as he tilted his neck to the side to take a look.
Nier found a blue furry beast with a raised leg, taking a leak on his head.
"Go away," Nier squeezed the words out, still under the intense waves of vertigo.
The little Beast hurried to shade himself to a shadowy corner, giving way to a book right behind it.
The Necronomicon droned above Nier's head, felicitating him for his successful transmigration.
Nier's observed the book with a pair of wondrous eyes, he, after all, had a glance to a little chunk of what he formally considered as the unknown.
Throughout their journey, his thirst to discover this unknown had flared out of proportion. Nier had recognized how insignificant his self was in comparison to the infinite outside world, and at some point he even questioned the triviality of his companions' deaths.
What counted those 6 souls to us the book had told him, you a trifling mortal have the chance to explore and even rule all the universes, atom by atom, realm by realm, God or Mortal, you can even revive the dead from their graves.
Nier was shaken by those words, he couldn't lie to himself that he did not long to discover more miraculous lands, and encounter the creatures and gods he was once in a time so passioned about.
And just like that, their pact has been struck, Nier would get to satisfy his insatiable curiosity along their journey while the Necronomicon will also achieve his goal, as the curiosity more often than not will need not only brevity and a strong determination, but also power to carry it all the way to the end.
Nier shifted his attention to himself, inspecting this so-called universe's specimen, only to find that his new body did not differ much from a human, save the fact that his hair was silver, his eyes a gray shade of black, his skin pale white, his face sharp and handsome, while his age had recessed to match a boy no older than 12.
Though, it was hard for Nier to interpret all these features, after all, his body was entirely covered with soot and dirt, his ragged clothes may have been one time red, or maybe blue or even black—at this moment the pair of tonic and shorts had lost all their original tint.
Oddly enough, however, he sensed fragments of memories which did not belong to him.
Nier rapidly started to skim through every one of them.
The boy he seemed to have taken the body from, was supposedly one of the homeless kids roaming the streets of a town called Morthemhill which exists in a realm the wizards and witches here refer to as Dagonvania.
"What did I just say?" Nier halted his memory exploration. "Witches and Wizards?" he frowned, surprised by how the odd words slipped so easily from his tongue.
A fragment meandered itself from the bunch, bearing him the desirable knowledge.
"I see now, so this is a world of witchcraft!" Nier realized, "The people that can use magic in this universe are like nobles or something, while the peasants are the people born without such gifts,"
"Also from this kid memories, it also states that a revered God is overseeing this universe, referred to by 'Marlock the shadowless'— The legends of Marlock states that this god of sorcery gained his name after his shadow accidentally awakened its own conscience when a newly created spell of Marlock back-fired on him."
"The shadow escaped, and Marlock had searched the realm for countless eons for his lost shadow, yet he never managed to find it. Growing frustrated and weary by day, he decided to create a spell in from which humankind was forged, as he blessed them with a bit of his own power for the purpose to look for the shadow in his place,"
"That of course happened millions of years ago, the wizards and witches have already completely forgotten about the existence of such a dreary mission."
"So let me get this straight, I was abandoned by some parents I have never seen, and brought here somehow, into a Southern town called Mortemhill. This kid also never got a name, the other homeless kids in the town called him the slug, and from the way he died, I could see why," Nier thought. "Apparently, this kid was so naive that he trusted a dark witch to apply a little 'harmless charm' to his body in exchange for a meal."
"The witch amused by such gullible kid, she took the chance to take the only valuable thing the kid possessed— his soul. After the deed have been done, she hurled the empty shell in the middle of the road, in which the Necronomicon took chance and ceased for Nier,"
"Interesting," Nier thought to himself, "Magic, wands, curses, spells,"
"This is truthfully interesting sir book," Nier mumbled, peeking at Margon alley, and its houses that looked so crooked, their tops threatened to touch the ground.
