Chapter 3 - A Great Day of Sorrow

Since Dokéshi lost his parents there have always been those who question. Where'd they go? Are they coming back? Who's watching you? These questions were the ones Dokéshi could not bring himself to answer, at least not without letting those sour but sweet tears run down his face. A year and half isn't to long of a time, but for someone who remembers all to well, it's an eternity.

11:34 AM

Dokéshi was tasked with finding a good place to go for the sunny Saturday afternoon, "Its a zoo mom, come on its going to be so cool!" He exclaims to his uncertain mom. "Its an 'abandoned' zoo", his mother replies, "what parents would we be if we let our son go there? What if something bad happens?" Dokéshi, now addressing the room, " you would be cool parents, like the super cool ones. You could even get capes and be The Super Parents. Duhn Duh-Duh Duh." His voice echoes through the room as his mother thinks about her decision. "Fine," she says giving in to her son, "But you got to get us ice cream after ok!" They laugh, little did they know this would be the last laugh they shared together under the roof of their calm home. They get in the car, Dokéshi more excited than the others, "5,000 bottles of milk on the wall, 5,000 bottles of milk...." They sing and exchange stories the whole care ride. "Woah," Dokéshi exclaims upon seeing the zoo. "I dont think this is a good idea Chi," Margaret tells her husband. His father, a soft spoken man replies, " If it was so bad you wouldnt have drove us here honey." Margaret was stumped, she knew the man with a phd in business marketing had just won a discussion with one sentence. They exit the car, Dokéshi rushes to the gate with excitement. To everyones surprise, its open. Dokéshi leads the path as his two loving parents follow closely behind. "If you look to your right you will see what was once a lion exhibit," Dokéshi proclaims as if he were a guide. As they continue making their way through the dreadful despair this zoo was, Margaret begins to feel uneasy. "Chi i think we should go home," she says with immense fear taking charge of her words. Chi does not respond instead he pulls her close under his protection, and continues to follow their son on the tour. Just as they swing past the what once was an elephant exhibit, Margaret can feel someone watching her. Shes brushes it off as her nerves playing tricks on her. As their walking to their final destination the clouds turn gray, despite constant weather reports saying 100% sunny. A loud hiss is heard as if something was gaurding its territory, but what could it be?

This zoo has been empty for years, plans of recovery have been gossiped but never put into motion. All of a sudden the sign holding the engraved 'AFRICA' , falls on the parents. Blood spilling out of their mouths as if it were flowing from a fountain. The soon to be departed parents join hands as they slowly fall to their eternal slumber. Dokéshi, frozen in time, and unable to move drops to his knees between his now late parents. He cries, an action Dokéshi hasn't ventured toward since he was a baby. Between his tears and crying out he saw a figure. A tall, red figure. It was wearing black boots, jeans and a black leather jacket. Its eyes were a glowing yellow, and an afro atop its head, an afro that didnt look natural. Along its black leather belt was a sheath about a foot long. Not his foot at the time, more like his foot now. Dokéshi trembled on the ground beneath the towering figure. The figure said nothing, instead it walked away with such solace in its step. The figures intentions were unclear to Dokéshi. That day he walked 12 miles to get home. When he did finally arrive home he made it his job nobody found out. He loved his school and since his family is all out of state he would have to move. He wasn't letting his family and friends go one after another. As he was changing that night he saw marks on his chest. wounds. Deep horrifying wounds. 18 scars residided on his chest, almost as if that figure had cut him so quick he couldnt have known. "That figure wasnt just a figure, " Dokéshi says waking from his slumber. That figure was..." He shoots upright in his bed as he screamed, " THAT DEMON!"
