We were awoken by my alarm that I had forgotten to turn off.
"I thought it's your boss calling you again to go to the office." Skyler commented when I told him it's my alarm.
"Don't worry. I'm sure he has no reason to call me today. We're pretty free these days." I explained.
"You sleep some more. I was planning to prepare some breakfast in bed." He said and got up.
"Let me help you." I said and also got up.
"No need. It's your birthday, I want to do this." He said.
"Fine, I'll just watch you then." I said.
He went out first and I headed for my bathroom to wash my face.
He'll only be staying here till lunch so I wanted to spend more time with him.
When I reached the kitchen he was starting to brew some coffee.
"By the way, it's a good thing your manager lets you come here." I commented and I saw him flinch a little bit.
"He knows you're here right?" I asked suspiciously.
"Do you want fluffy pancakes?" He asked, trying to change the topic.
"Sky?" I prodded.
"He doesn't. He wouldn't let me go if he knew." He answered.
"So you escaped? Wouldn't you get in trouble if they found out you flew to another country?!" I asked, shocked.
"Our makeup artist knew I came here." He answered.
"Are you sure you won't get into trouble?" I asked.
"I've been flying here without their knowledge." He answered nonchalantly.
"So you mean to tell me that they didn't know you left the country and came here all this time?" I asked.
"Yeah, except for the time we went on a vacation." He explained.
Is he really not gonna get in trouble? I looked at him worriedly.
"Don't worry. It'll be fine." He said and handed me my coffee.
He continued cooking breakfast and I just stared at him worriedly.
"But your bandmates know you're here right?" I asked again.
"Nope. Just our makeup artist." He answered and I stared at him with a are-you-kidding-me look.
"I figured what they didn't know wouldn't hurt them." He explained.
Is this really alright? I'm worried but he doesn't look a bit worried.
"Hey Sky, would it be alright for you to be dating right now?" I asked.
I mean he didn't let his manager and bandmates know he was coming here. I figured he must be hiding me.
He looked at me looking a little guilty.
"Ah, so you shouldn't be dating now." I said when I saw his reaction.
I feel a little sad knowing that.
"Yeah but what can I do? I met you and I don't want to let you go." He answered cringely.
"Sky, you aren't just playing with me, are you?" I asked seriously.
I mean I did think he could be dating other girls before but I figured that with the time he's giving me surely there wouldn't be any other girls he would be giving his time to.
"Fay. I swear I'm not." He said seriously as he approached me.
"Can you tell me what are your plans for this relationship?" I asked.
I'm feeling a little insecure.
"I… I haven't really thought that far. I just want to be with you and get to know you more." He answered.
So he also doesn't know what to do with this relationship.
"Is that important to you? I swear I'm not playing with you. I really really like you." He said.
"Hmmmm… We're only been dating for a month so I guess, I don't really have that much of an expectation from this relationship." I replied.
"What do you mean by that?" He asked, looking worried.
"Honestly, I think it's hard for us to keep this relationship. It doesn't mean I want to break up with you. I agreed to dating you knowing that it'll be hard. I hope we'll last long but… I don't know." I explained.
He was silently contemplating what I just said. I'm bad at this. I probably shouldn't have told him this but I honestly think this way.
"Hey, the pancakes will get burnt if you don't get back there." I said.
He looked alarmed and went back to the kitchen. He took the pancake from the pan and cooked another one.
"I'm sorry for making you feel that way." He said.
"I feel pretty special, you know. There's a popular singer who'll fly out of his country and celebrate my birthday even if it's just for a few hours." I replied.
"Thanks. I promise to do better than this." He said.
"If you get any better than this. You'll be flying to country Z everyday." I said.
"Doesn't sound so bad." He replied.
"Don't. Please don't do it. I thought you were hiding this relationship, if you fly here everyday, people will find out." I said.
That and it's expensive. I'll feel burdened if we spend so much money on me.
"I guess a long distance relationship works best for you if you don't want anyone to know you're dating." I commented off handedly.
Skyler finished cooking and handed me a plate. He looked a little sad.
Did I destroy the moment?
"I'm not hiding you. If you want I can tell my manager and bandmates that we're dating." He said.
"No need. It is still the first month that we're dating. A lot of things can happen. If they find out then come clean about our relationship." I explained.
"Do you really believe our relationship won't last long?" he asked.
"I don't know. It's up to the both of us to make it last long, right?" I answered.
"So you're not against hiding our relationship?" He asked carefully.
"I'm not against us hiding our relationship but if someone asks me if I'm dating someone how should I answer?" I asked.
"Of course, you should say that you have a boyfriend." He said.
"And if they ask you if you're dating someone?" I asked and he was silent.
"So you're my boyfriend but I'm not your girlfriend." I said when he didn't answer after a long time.
"I… I know I'm being selfish. I'm sorry." He said.
Is this relationship gonna work out? Can we really make it work? What have I gotten myself into?
"You know what. We both know that we went ahead with this relationship a little bit too fast. I mean we barely know each other." I said.
"I know but can't we make this relationship work? I know it'll be hard. Like you said, we barely know each other then why don't we get to know each other more as we dated? I know it's hard now, but I also believe we can make this work somehow. I can't disclose my relationships right now but it doesn't mean I can't do it forever." He said sincerely.
"Okay. Let's do it like this for the meantime. Let's keep our relationship hidden. I'll tell Ivy not to tell anyone." I said.
"I'm really sorry about this." He said.
"Well, I don't want to be stalked also so I guess it's okay." I said.
We ate our breakfast after that. It was a somber breakfast.
I guess it's finally sinking in that I'm dating him and what it entails to date him.
Skyler also did the dishes after we ate. I went to the living room and watched TV when he did that.
"Fay? You're my girlfriend. I may not be able to shout it to the world but you are. You're my precious girlfriend. I'm sorry if you have such a horrible boyfriend but please give me more patience. I'll make this relationship work." He said as he approached me.
"We… We will make this relationship work." I told him and gave him a hug.
I like his hug. It's warm and very comforting. We spent the whole morning watching TV while hugging.
I felt bad about our breakfast so I invited him out for lunch. It's a restaurant where me and Ivy liked to eat.
"I hope you like their food." I told Skyler when we finished our meal.
"It's good. The place also feels nice. You really like this kind of place." He said.
"I like quiet places." I said.
"And I like lively places." He said.
"We're the opposites. You're outgoing and I'm a homebody. You thrive with having people around you while I like to keep a few close friends I keep in contact with." I said.
Aren't we too different? No, don't think like that.
"They did say that opposites attract." He said.
"Well, you are attractive." I teased him.
"I'm not the only one who's attractive in this relationship." He said.
I ignored what he said and paid the bill. We took a taxi to the airport.
"I'm going home again." He sighed when we reached the airport.
"Thank you for celebrating my birthday with me." I said.
"Oh right, before I forget. Here." He said as he took out a small box from his bag.
"What is this?" I asked as I opened it.
I was shocked to see that it's a pair of earrings from Brand L. I'm pretty sure these things are very expensive.
"I can't accept this." I told him.
"Why not? It's my birthday gift to you." He replied, disappointed.
"It's too expensive." I explained.
"It's not. I chose this for you." He said.
"Sky, I have nowhere to wear this kind of earrings. I can't wear it to work. I don't attend any parties that will need me to wear this. It'll be useless for me to accept this. It'll only stay hidden in a box somewhere. Why don't you give this to your mom? Or your sister? You said you have a sister close to my age, right?" I said.
He looked disappointed.
"I'm sorry, Sky but this is too expensive and I feel burdened accepting this. I'm already very happy that you came here and celebrated with me. That's more than enough. Please take the gift back." I said.
He looked reluctant but in the end, he took it back.
