Chapter 46 - Part 47

The light was shinning from the window of Lisa's neighbor's house.

" Wait… is that…?" Lisa murmured, her face flushed with embarrassment.

The flash of light came again, and it was then they realized: the old woman next door, who always kept her blinds half open at night, was standing in her windowher silhouette barely visible, but unmistakable. She had been watching them the entire time.

Lisa's face turned bright red. "Oh my god, she saw everything," she whispered, covering her face in embarrassment.

Canary let out a low chuckle, trying to hide his amusement. "Well, at least we gave her something to talk about."

Lisa groaned, burying her face in her hands. "This is so embarrassing."

Canary reached over, gently pulling her hands away from her face.

"Hey, it's not a big deal. We're adults. And I'm sure she's seen worse."

The old woman's light flickered off as if to confirm her presence had been noticed, and the awkward tension seemed to dissipate as Lisa let out a relieved sigh.

"Let's pretend she didn't see anything," Lisa said, looking out the window with a smirk. "And next time, we need to park a little further away."

"Agreed," Canary laughed. "But, for the record, I wouldn't mind giving her something to gossip about."

Lisa shot him a playful glare before leaning back in her seat, still flustered but starting to laugh at the absurdity of it all.

"You're terrible," she teased, shaking her head.

Canary grinned, his hand gently brushing her cheek. "Maybe. But I'll take the blame for this one."

" Hmm.." Lisa opened the door and walked out in hurry without waiting for Canary.

" Hi, What's the rush for , Good night !" He spoke our loud.

" Good night too.." she responded without looking back at him.

Canary smiled at her childish behavior and then drove off.

Canary walked into the house with a noticeable spring in his step, the upbeat energy radiating off him.

Ketra, who was sitting at the kitchen table, glanced up and raised an eyebrow.

"Well, look at you," she said, her tone amused.

"Someone's in a good mood tonight."

Lucy, who had just finished setting the table, noticed his cheerful demeanor as well.

"What's going on, Canary? You seem… unusually happy," she said, a playful smile tugging at her lips.

Canary grinned, clearly in a lighter mood than usual. "I guess I'm just feeling good today," he said, shrugging.

"You know, sometimes everything just falls into place."

His good mood was contagious, and Lucy and Ketra exchanged amused glances.

It was rare to see him so carefree, especially with the tension from the office and everything that had been happening with Regina.

"Well, this is a nice change," Ketra remarked, grinning.

"So, what's the big occasion? Did someone finally bring you back down to earth?"

Canary chuckled, shaking his head. "No, nothing like that. Actually, I've decided to serve supper tonight. I'll serve your plates."

He moved toward the kitchen, grabbing the serving dishes with a playful wink.

Lucy and Ketra and the maids exchanged another look, clearly surprised.

"Are you feeling okay?" Lucy asked with a teasing tone, her eyes sparkling. "This doesn't sound like the Canary we know."

Canary shrugged, looking over his shoulder as he plated the food.

"I'm just in a good mood. Thought I'd do something nice."

He then served both of them their plates with a flourish, making the gesture feel special, as if it was a rare moment of his warmth.

Ketra laughed, clearly impressed. "I think this might be a first. The world might be ending if Canary's serving food around here."

Lucy smirked but gratefully accepted the plate he handed her. "Well, I'll take it while I can."

Canary settled into his seat, the laughter around the table making him feel more at ease.

For the first time in a while, things felt simple and peaceful.

As Canary lay in bed, he reflected on the events of the day.

Regina's confrontation and the tension at work had weighed on him, but Lisa had been his escape.

Her presence, their time together, and the joy she brought him helped him forget the chaos.

As he thought about her smile and their kiss, he realized how much she had calmed his mind.

He smiled, feeling at peace for the first time in days, and drifted off to sleep, grateful for her calming influence.

***

The following morning, Canary sat down at the breakfast table with Lucy, Ketra, and Joel.

The warmth of the morning sun filled the room, but Lucy was still curious about his mood from the previous night.

"So," Lucy began, taking a sip of her coffee and looking over at Canary with a teasing smile,

"you still haven't told me why you were so happy last night. Something happen that I don't know about?"

Canary smiled but didn't offer much of an answer.

"Just had a good evening, that's all," he replied, his tone casual.

Ketra shot him a sly look. "Is that all? Or is there something more?"

she teased, knowing that there was more to his mood than he was letting on.

Before Canary could respond, Lucy's phone rang, breaking the moment.

She picked it up, glancing at the screen. "Mr. Smith," she muttered under her breath before answering.

"Hello, Mr. Smith," Lucy said into the phone, her tone immediately changing to one of business.

The conversation was brief, but the urgency in Mr. Smith's voice was clear.

"Lucy, I need you and your family to come to the company immediately. Something urgent has happened, and we need to address it. It's critical."

Lucy quickly glanced around the table, her expression serious. "Alright. We'll be there shortly."

She hung up, her eyes scanning the room. "We need to go to the company.

Joel furrowed his brow, concern flickering in his eyes. "What's going on, Lucy? What did Mr. Smith say?"

Lucy shook her head, still uncertain about the specifics.

"He didn't say exactly, but it sounds serious. He just told me to get to Andersons Group immediately."

Ketra stood up, already grabbing her coat. "Guess we'll find out when we get there."

Canary looked around the table, sensing the tension in the air.

"Let's go then," he said, standing up too. "We'll figure it out when we get there."

Joel shot Canary a brief glance before following his family out the door.

As they headed to their cars, a quiet unease settled over them. Whatever was happening at the company, it was big.
