It was past noon and Lucifer had left Omega labs to meet up Lila for lunch at a French restaurant. According to Tony, it had always been Henry's favorite spot for lunch with Lila every time she was in town. Tony had offered to take Lucifer to the restaurant but he refused in a plight for some self-dependence yet forced to take a taxi because he couldn't drive, quite ironic.
Getting to the restaurant, he could spot Lila through the glass windows as she sat gracefully reading an article, looking ravishing as always. Lucifer admired from a distance noticing she still wore the white dress and white pearl necklace from earlier that morning.
"Bonjour mademoiselle," Lucifer greeted with a bowing gesture as he got to the table.
Lila chuckled softly. "Bonjour monsieur, you seem to be in a good mood this afternoon."
"Well, seeing you just brightened my mood that's all," Lucifer said taking the only seat opposite her. "How was your day?"
"Quite uneventful, I felt like a housewife this morning. Did you know our neighbor's son has been skipping school? He headed out like everyone in the house only to come back an hour later."
"What's wrong with that?" Lucifer grinned.
"Henry." Lila frowned.
"He's at the peak of his youth. Let him live a little."
Lila's expression turned sour.
"Are you being serious right now?"
"Come on, I was joking." Lucifer laughed. "Although I'm not wrong too, there's always a reason behind his rebellion that no one else is seeing."
"Mhm, you really think so?" Lila asked as a waiter approached them.
"Good day sir and ma," The waiter said with a warm smile. "What would I be serving you two today?"
"The usual please," Lila answered sharply and the waiter turned away to the kitchen.
"Yes, I can relate to it."
"Wow, in the two years we've been together, never have I ever heard about a rebellious you before. You were younger then I suppose?"
"Oh it was ages ago, I wasn't satisfied with how daddy treated me and my brothers, so I decided to go against him."
"Then what happened?"
"Let's just say he didn't take it likely. He banished me."
"You've never shared this part of your life with me before, I'm sorry," Lila said holding his hands.
Lucifer was confused.
"Why?"
"It couldn't have been easy for you. Now I get why you don't talk about him much."
"As I said, it was ages ago. I have forgotten most of the details already." Lucifer forced a smile.
"And you never speak of your brothers too; I always thought you were an only child," Lila uttered.
"Well they are self-righteous dumbasses who think everything is about doing daddy's bidding," he said abruptly.
"Oh."
"Yeah, and frankly I don't care," Lucifer added.
The waiter soon returned, closely followed by another who held a bucket of wine while he carried a tray with Lucifer and Lila's dish.
"Thank you very much," Lila said as they served lunch and left.
"Smells nice," Lucifer said with a smile as his mouth watered over the dish of Ratatouille he was served.
"How is your day going?" Lila asked.
"Boring," Lucifer responded immediately.
After the detectives left his office, Tony had made sure that Lucifer had read a couple of Henry's journals as well as practiced his handwriting and signature.
"Tony is a pain in the ass. Although the police came to my office this morning,"
"Oh my, what happened?" Lila exclaimed, dabbing her lip with a napkin.
"The detective thinks the explosion wasn't an accident and that someone should be held accountable for what happened."
"Well, that's absurd. What would you gain from killing your own colleagues?"
"Exactly," Lucifer chuckled. "But I'd like to see him try though, it's fun to watch when humans chase desperately after nothing in particular."
Lila studied his expression for a brief moment.
"What?" Lucifer asked with a mouth full.
"You sound different," She said blankly.
"Is that a bad thing?"
"No," Lila smiled. "I like it."
Just as they ate, a fairly built man stormed in. He skimmed over the restaurant, eyes bulging from their sockets with an unwavering glare holding them in place as they locked to the doctor's.
"Good day sir, how may I help you?" A waiter said stopping in front of him.
"Out of my way," He barked, shoving the waiter aside as he charged towards Lucifer. "You bastard," He said throwing a punch at Lucifer.
Fortunately, Lucifer was able to evade at the last minute.
"What in the heavens is going on?" Lucifer said confused as he sprung to his feet.
"Peter, what are you doing here?" Lila asked the agitated man who now was reaching to grab Lucifer by the collar with the waiters, a little late before having a hold of him.
"I'm going to kill you," Peter yelled as the commotion began to draw the attention of everyone else in the restaurant.
"Hey," Lucifer said, standing face to face with Peter who now held him by the collar. "I don't know what you're here for, but I can assure you it won't end well."
"Shut up, you ruined my life!" He cried before ramming his head up Lucifer's nose.
Once again, it did no real damage to Lucifer but it did make him mad as Lucifer broke from his grip, slammed his head to the table in quick succession, and finally pinned his hands to the back. Peter groaned in pain as he struggled to get himself free from Lucifer's hold.
"What do you mean I ruined your life?" Lucifer asked, showing no signs of breath catching.
"You killed my Karen," Peter shrieked as he broke down in tears. "She is dead because of you."
"Karen," Lucifer thought as he could recall Dr. Cortez mentioning such at the hospital. Slowly, he released his grip as Peter began to so look pathetic that he felt sorry for him.
"Peter, we're so sorry," Lila said as she placed a hand on his shoulder in an attempt to comfort the grieving man.
Just then, a security guard came over and escorted Peter out of the restaurant. This time, it was Lila who vented her anger towards Lucifer.
"What the hell was that?" She glared.
Lucifer was surprised.
"Are you actually taking his side on this? That man came after me!" Lucifer replied.
"That man," Lila gestured air quotes with her fingers. "Is Karen's husband and he acted that way because he blames you for what happened."
"You mean the explosion," Lucifer said.
"Yeah genius; we have been good friends with them, but you acted like he was a total stranger and without an ounce of sympathy."
"Lila," Lucifer called but Lila stopped him before he could say anything else.
She picked her purse and dropped some cash on the table.
"Enjoy the rest of your day, Henry," She said and walked out of the restaurant.
