Currently, the adults were working and doing their thing. Panacea was completing her designs, Robin took his brother to check on the school he worked for, Astraea was also making a call to her workplace, which was a public library. She was head librarian and two weeks of holidays left her with a lot of work. She had been making calls daily but, she hadn't had time to do that this morning because it usually took an hour or so.
In the living room, the children of the four siblings were there, finished eating and rubbing their tummy.
"What are we doing today?" Bia asked. Since the whole family was on break, they needn't worry about school or anything.
"I don't think I can move." Her sister replied with a husky tone. Her belly was like a water balloon, ready to pop.
"I can see that." Kai replied.
"How about you guys take us for tourism on this town. I barely have memories about here." Jin spoke up.
"That would be nice, actually. We have a lot of places to show but, I don't think many places are that changed since you guys left." Alek replied to him.
"Oh, I think it would be changed. I saw a big shopping mall that I can swear that wasn't here when we were here." Rin spoke next.
"That was built last year, wasn't it?" Alek thought about the Green Leaf mall that was built last year. Despite the name sounding like nature, it was made of glass and had no trace of plants existing in that place.
"Why don't you take us there? Or the mountain we use to play in?" Rin wiggled his eyebrows at his cousin.
"Okay... We'll leave in twenty." Alek slightly blushed and walked to her room.
----------
"What is this movie called?" Jin whispered into his cousin's ear. They were in the cinema in the mall and were watching an ongoing movie.
"I don't even know." Bia whispered back. It wasn't full, but people were sitting in front and sides. "Let's just continue."
The big screen in front of them were showing a man transforming into a werewolf because it was a full moon. The transformation was s*itty to those who knew the truth about werewolves. Werewolves nowadays have evolved and could shift anytime they wanted. When it was at night, they become a little stronger than in the day, but mostly, they would be powerful on the full moon. But that didn't mean that they would lose their mind like they often did in the movies. They can shift just like the shapeshifters, not struggling as they did on the screen.
As the people in front of them gasped at the poor makeup of werewolves, they all sighed and put their jaws on their hands, apart from Alek, who was keenly watching the screen. She used to believe in this kind of transformation before getting to know the supernatural world. On the way here, the twins had explained the differences between a werewolf and a wolf-shifter. There weren't much different they said. But they would know the difference if they spotted one.
Then right at the moment, a man walked past by and made eye contact with Rin. Rin stopped walking and looked back.
"That's a werewolf. Apparently, he knows who we are." He told the group when they asked why he had stopped walking.
"Is that a bad thing?" Alek asked worriedly.
"Depends. It can be." Rin replied and began walking in the direction of the mall. No more questions were asked and, all of that happened just an hour ago.
Kai couldn't keep his eyes open and closed his eyes. He felt like he was going to be in a light sleeping state until he caught people talking in the last seat near the entrance about them. Many people were so caught up in the movie and weren't paying attention to what was happening behind. Plus, the man was speaking a little louder than whisper and Kai could hear it clearly despite the theatre being now bombing with sound.
"Is what Josh said true?" A man asked.
"Oh, I can sense it from here. They are from the leading clans of shifters." Another man answered. His voice was husky and unpleasant. "We do as we were told. Inject them, when they are leaving, drag them to the back road and then finish them."
"Are you sure they are from the leading clans? I can't feel anything." Another man asked. His voice sounded weak and scared.
"You are too young. I'm saying it's them! You all have the thing, right? I will take the one with the black shirt. You take the other with grey shirt." Man number two ordered the third man.
"I don't think I can do that. I am literally half of his size. That's physically not possible!" He complained.
"Shut up and do as I say. You know what's at the stake here. Now you, take the girl with braids. You take the short-haired one. You take the girl with a bun. You take the boy." Kai didn't realise they weren't only three but, at least six were there to kill them.
Kai opened his eyes and saw that the movie was almost ending. If those wolves were to make a move, it would be when people would be most concentrated or keep them here and drug them once all the civilians are out. As in the rule of the supernatural world, they weren't allowed to kill humans or expose their existence.
The werewolves seemed to be done talking and, he could feel their eyes piercing at the backs of them.
[Don't do anything. Listen to me. There are werewolves behind us that are planning to kill us or something anytime on. There are at least six of them and, all have some kind of a drug that I don't know what it does.] Kai didn't shift from his position and mind linked his family.
[Are they related to the wolf we met earlier?] Pollux also didn't move and kept his eyes on the screen.
[Likely.]
[I can feel that they are looking at us. Can I finish them now?] Iris asked. With her tentacles and the dark, she can easily poison them from the ground and not be noticed.
[No, Iris. We need them alive to know who is behind this. You know wolves don't interfere in the shapeshifting community unless there is something they want or make a deal with somebody from the clans.] Castor stopped his sister. His sister was an assassination machine if she wanted to. With her powers, that was inevitable. It was suited for assassination and sneak attacks. [Besides, there are humans here. We can't risk that.]
[So we get them surprise or something?] Bia frowned.
[They don't know that we know. We can use that as an advantage.] Alek spoke. She was startled at first but brought back her usual self within a second.
[Or maybe, that is part of their plan.] Rin shrugged his shoulders.
[What do you mean?] She asked back. She kissed her sister's cheek and made a funny face when Bia looked at her with disgust. Alek side-eyed at the back of the theatre and checked the number of people who wanted to kill her and her family. They didn't see her check them out since it was dark and a girl was just teasing her sister. [There are six.] Alek looked back at the screen and reported it.
[That was an excellent way, Alek. I salute you.] Jin smiled and spoke.
[Thank you.] She replied like an award receiving actress. [I couldn't see the injections that you were saying. However, they all had their hands in their pocket, which makes me think that they are in there.] She drastically changed her tone and spoke.
[Nice. Anyway, I was saying all of us hearing the plan for us just maybe be a trap. They may be purposely doing this.] Rin spoke.
[What do we do?] Iris asked her brother.
[We wait. Shift your backs or something. Be prepared.] Rin told them. The whole time, he didn't even make a move. The scene of his octopus eyes staring at the screen made quite an image but scary.
[Let me go to the washroom. Maybe they will attack me there first.] Jin asked before the supernatural group chart was done.
[I need you by my side when the fight starts.] Rin held his brother's hand. They were said to be the best buddies when fighting. They always had each other's backs and have never lost a fight. [We also need to protect Iris.] They wouldn't let those filthy wolves put a finger on their precious baby sister.
[Castor, Pollux, I can fight. Now that I have met a partner for a fight, you guys don't need to worry about protecting me. Kai and I have got ourselves.] Ever since they were reunited in Mikoto's house, they have made a connection as a family and a partner for a fight. They could feel it. They were alike, hence, they understood each other without communicating. They had their backs now.
[You are?!] Rin and Jin widened their eyes and twitched hearing that. The whole clan has been looking for a partner for Iris since she was small and, the partner turned out to be their cousin? That was... good. At least she would not fight alongside some dude and do not have to worry about her getting harassed or anything. They knew Kai and trusted him.
[Yeah.] Kai answered calmly.
[Excuse me. What is a partner? I do not quite catch it." Alek hesitantly asked the group. They were carrying on the conversation using some new concept she wasn't told.
[We'll tell you later. Incoming!] Rin looked back and crushed the injection with his hands when a wolf attacked them from behind.
