"I think you know why we came here." Rin spoke. His eyes were calm.
Alek nodded. "I'm guessing about the reason why we are the only people who can see Aether. And I have a feeling we all have an idea to it." Just as she finished talking, Bia knocked on the door and came in with a tray of food.
"It's omelette." Bia gave her the tray to Alek's laps. On the tray, there was a perfect, oval-shaped omelette with salad and sausages.
"Thank you. Have you guys eaten?" Alek put her hands together before she began eating.
"Yep. Long ago." Bia told her.
"This is good. Who made this? If it was a chef, they need a raise." Alek smiled at the softness of the egg in her mouth.
"It was a chef who made this and I will tell them about it." Jin smiled.
"I have a question." Alek was suddenly confused when she thought about the past conversations with her family when she first knew they were supernatural. "How are you the next head? No offence. I remember mum telling me that first born's first born's become heads. I understand that since Aether is not here to become the head, I will become. But for you, Jin, you are the second born's first born. How are you becoming the head?"
"That's going to some time." Castor sighed before he started talking. "So, as you know, your father took on the name of Minazuki when he married your mother. So when he did that, he was considered no longer a Mutsuki. He is like erased from the family tree of Mutsuki, so my dad becomes the 'first born'. And that's why I am the future head of Mutsuki. Did you get it?"
Alek stared at him and gave him a not reassuring smile.
"You didn't understand. I think your father can explain it better than me." Jin chuckled at his cousin's expression. She gave him a thumbs up. He reciprocated the gesture.
"Bia!" Then they heard Panacea calling her daughter from somewhere.
"Gotta go." Bia told them and left the room in a jog.
"Give me a second to finish this. Or maybe, you guys can start." Alek told them before she put another big spoon of the omelette in her mouth, which caused her to choke a little and drink water in haste.
"Okay. So we have been thinking about it. And we came up with a conclusion." Pollux began talking.
"Wait a minute. Wasn't your sister there?" Alek asked with her hand, telling them to stop.
"We were appointed to different rooms and, I and he shared a room while she slept in the room next to us." He explained and, Alek nodded. She put her hand away to carry on with the conversation. "Anyway, we talked all night and came up with what we think is the reason. Umm, I don't know if you remember about that night. The night we saw lights in the sunflower field at grandma's."
Alek froze for a moment before she spoke. "Of course I remember about that night. I will never forget it! I wanted to ask you about it when we met at grandma's on the anniversary day but, I thought you guys would have forgotten it, so I didn't. Also, I forgot to ask you." She had stopped eating her meal. "Well, I had an idea when Aether showed up and, we were the only ones who could see him. Do you think it's related to the lights?"
"We are not sure but, it's likely. Apart from that, we didn't do anything special. We always played when we were little and didn't have contact with a supernatural, apart from that time." He continued.
"How do you that they are supernaturals? I did think that it was abnormal for lights to be like fireflies ish lanterns. But that doesn't make them supernatural."
"If they are not part of this world, then what are they? Besides, we have been looking up for the causes of lights and, we think it was caused by fairies." As soon as Rin said that, Alek almost jumped out of her bed and spilt the food on her lap if it wasn't for Jin, who put her back into the sitting position.
"What the eff?! They are real?" The twins nodded in unison. Alek was in shock but, it was a good shock. She was happy that they existed. "Hell yeah!"
"Calm down. You are going to worsen your condition." Jin gave her some water so that her blood pressure would return to normal.
"Sorry. I just... wow." Alek spoke after drinking the whole cup of water.
"I know. Can I continue?" Pollux didn't want to kill his cousin by giving her a heart attack.
"Yea. Of course."
"So I was talking about fairies, yeah? Well, they used to be close with us, shapeshifters in ancient times, but they began to be hunted by both creatures in the human world and the supernatural world. They hid and, nowadays, it's even hard to find a trace of them, but I believe some of the fairies that went underground lives in the clearing or, close to it."
"I see what you are saying this time." Alek thought of the night they saw the lights floating away to the sky. Then she remembered what happened the last time she was there. "Umm, can I add an information?"
"Sure." Jin gave her a smile.
"I think I met them when I was there the last time." Alek blurted out as quickly as possible. She felt guilty for keeping it a secret.
"WHAT?!" Castor widened his eyes at her words while his twin was speechless.
"I said, I met... them." Alek's voice turned into a whisper and, she hung her head low.
"When?! How?!" Jin grabbed her shoulders not so gently. She felt a numb pain from it but, it was bearable. Moreover, she couldn't care about the pain now as she was overwhelmed by her cousin.
"Jin, let go. You are hurting her." Pollux gently absorbed the shock and touched his twin's shoulder.
"Sorry." Jin got back to his seat next to the bed and asked again. "When and how did you meet them?"
"I met them in the clearing in the middle of the night. Not exactly them but him. I met only one, although I felt like many were there. I thought I would meet the lights and Aether there but, there was none. I was crying when a light came flying to me. The light was tinier than the ones I previously saw years ago. It was about the size of a firefly. It helped me get back to the house and healed the pain in my foot." The twins knew about Alek's foot not being able to heal completely and had difficulty running or doing any hard exercise.
"Are you sure it's the same type of lights we saw?" Jin wanted to be sure.
"...Yes." Alek gave some thought about it before she replied. "It was close to white, though."
"What I don't understand is how it healed your foot. The books we read didn't have information like that. Fairies did have healing ability for both mental and physical but, I never heard lights of theirs healing us." Rin spoke.
"Maybe they evolved." Alek told him.
"Kamone." He replied in Japanese before looking up the ceiling. "Nande iwanakkata no?"
"I don't know. I guess I was in shock."
Castor sighed again. "Okay, so you met the fairy's light the last time we were there. It helped you get back to the house and healed your foot." Jin summarised her explanation. Alek nodded.
"Also, do you guys have the family heirloom of Mutsuki?" Alek asked. Maybe together, she could find something in the Minazuki's heirloom other than autographs and empty pages.
"Yes. Ours is a book." Rin didn't hesitate to tell her even though he wasn't supposed to tell people from other clans. She and he were good cousins and, he knew Alek wouldn't tell people about it. Plus, she was going to be the next head of Minazuki and, they both wanted to stay close to each other.
"Minazuki's also a book. Did it have a lock? If there was, have you been able to open it?" Alek asked.
"It did have a lock but, grandpa showed us how to open it. It requires the heads', it doesn't matter future or present or past, tears and blood to unlock it. We saw autographs of past holders and, the rest of the pages were blank." He replied.
"Same goes for us. I never knew that's how you unlock the book. But I don't remember giving tears and blood to it." Alek told them.
"Oh, so the heirlooms are pretty much the same with other families. He tried to cry but he couldn't so he used onions." Rin pointed at his twin, who looked a little embarrassed and angry.
"Does that work?" Alek asked while laughing.
"It did. But it also made him to continue crying because he shredded to much." Jin covered his mouth as soon as he said those words.
"Hey, don't bully your brother." Alek told the future head.
"I agree." Pollux mumbled past the hand. Jin rolled his eyes and didn't do anything. Suddenly, he felt his brother lick his palm. He instantly pulled back his hand from the mouth and went to wash it on the sink near the bed.
"That's disgusting, Rin!" Jin shouted as he used soap to wash off his brother's saliva.
"That's what you get for messing with me." Rin smiled at Jin, who was frustrated.
"AHHHHHHH!" Alek screamed all of a sudden and, the two snapped their heads to her.
"What's wrong?" Rin asked and, Jin came soon after washing off the soap.
"Are we in September?" Alek asked.
"Yes." Rin answered with confusion. It was the first week of September.
"SCHOOL!" Alek exclaimed with a troubled expression.
