As they have predicted, Alek took all the blankets and almost kicked Alec off the bed if it weren't for Alec. He woke up when he noticed that Alek was kicking him. He had half-fallen from the bed and, he was feeling cold. So he got off the bed, left the room to the living room to grab cushions and a blanket. He came back to the room quietly and slept on the floor after wrapping himself in a blanket like he was in a sleeping bag.
--------
Alek woke up in the morning like always, meaning late in the morning. She opened her eyes and saw sunlight filling the room. She immediately closed her eyes. It was weird for her sister to leave the curtain open. And weirdly, it wasn't the alarm that woke her up usually. She searched her phone with closed eyes and didn't find her phone near her like always. Then she stopped searching when she felt that the bed was softer than yesterday.
She finally opened her eyes and got up from the bed slowly. Alek looked at the room she was in through her groggy eyes. Her eyes were trying their best to adjust to the unusual light in the room.
She wondered where she was until she heard a familiar voice from outside the room. It was Alec's. Then she remembered how and why she was here in his room.
Alek yawned as she got off the bed, half-asleep. She probably looked like an old lady. When she reached the door and was about to open it, it opened from the other side.
"Hi. Alek." Alex looked troubled. "I'm sorry I didn't knock. I thought you were asleep."
"Boarding." She couldn't pronounce it properly as she was yawning again. "It's your room. You don't need to knock." She told him as she walked past him to wash her face.
"Not that way." Alec stopped her from going in the opposite direction. She was going to fall off the stairs if he hadn't stopped her.
"Oui." Alek turned one-eighty-degrees and went in the right direction. She had forgotten that she was not in her house.
Alex watched his best friend entering the bathroom safely and went into his room. He came to the room to grab his phone to call his boyfriend where he was. He was planning to call him but, he changed his mind and started texting him. When he was texting, he heard Alek come out from the bathroom.
The bathroom door in his house makes a weird, unique sound when it's opened and closed and, that was how he knew. He typed the words quickly before going to Alek.
"Breakfast is ready." He told Alek and gave her the hairclip that she used while she was here.
Alek thanked and put on the hairclip. Her hair was messy. Surely curly hairs were hard to obtain. "You guys have ate?"
"Yep. How do you wake up at this hour? I don't get it. We slept at ten last night and how can you sleep for almost twelve hours?" Alec sighed as he spoke.
Alek smiled. "Stop being jealous."
"I'm not. It's unhealthy to sleep this long. Eight hours are enough." Alec just couldn't deal with Alek even though they had spent half their lives together. "Now, let's go eat."
Alek followed Alex downstairs, not to find her aunt. "Where is your mother?" She waited for her to appear, but nothing happened.
"She left. She said that she was going to have a class." Alec told her and went to the kitchen to grab the cake they promised to eat last night.
"She has classes now?! That's wonderful!" Alek exclaimed as she sat down, waiting for her best friend to bring her food. She knew her aunt wanted to teach people catering.
"Oh yeah. I didn't tell you. I told Mel." Alex told her as he brought the cake and sat down in front of her while he had a café au lait without sugar. He had taken enough sugar from the cake he had eaten earlier.
"Why?" Alek asked before she took a bite of the amazing cake.
"Because it was decided on your brother's day." He didn't want to say the whole thing because it would ruin the morning. And both he and she knew what day they were talking about.
Alek paused for a second and took a bite of cake. "That's great. Oh, ma'am this is great." She widened her eyes and stared at the cake in front of her. It tasted marvellous in her mouth.
"Mum would be happy to hear that." Alex smiled at Alek's reaction.
"Tell her she is amazing." Alek told him as she took another bite of the cake. She momentarily forgot to close her mouth as the cake melted in her mouth.
"Do you want some?" Alex handed her his drink, seeing it was sugary. When he was eating the cake, he took coffee instead of his usual café au lait. A person who is not a coffee fan took a coffee by will. This was something new.
Alek took the drink from his hand and took a sip. It was fantastic. The cake's sweetness and the café au lait's bitterness was matching like they were soulmates in her mouth. His drinks usually had sugar or honey inside, but now, she was glad that this one didn't. She sighed after she drunk it.
"How is it?" Alex took back his drink from her and took a sip.
"Like this is what they serve in heaven. If that's the case, I will go there and eat this with my brother." Alek told him while she nodded to herself.
Alex chuckled. "That's going to be a long way."
After Alek finished eating the cake, she washed the plates and changed her clothes. She was going to meet Melvin once he was back and, until then, she had to do something to kill time. Then she remembered she hadn't told her parents that she was going to meet Melvin.
They would probably be waiting for her to celebrate the stolen birthday. She felt bad for her cousin's family to be here because of her. So she decided to call her parents.
"Morning, mum." Alek called her mother since she was a little afraid of her father.
"Morning, sweetie." Panacea felt relieved hearing her daughter's voice. "Are you coming home from now?"
"Actually, I am planning to meet Mel. He is going to be back today and, I haven't seen him in a while." Alek bit her lower lip and closed her eyes from nervousness.
"Oh..." Panacea was, as predicted, planning o celebrate her birthday today because she thought she would be back. But she couldn't say that because she knew it was her choice and lately, she was given a lot of pressure. "Come back when you meet him. I will tell everyone that. Take care. Bye."
"Thanks, mum. Bye." Alek exhaled deeply after hanging up the phone. She felt her heart, beat again. Then she heard a noise from the door. She was in Alec's room and, she knew he was there. "Alex?"
"Sorry, I didn't mean to eavesdrop." Her best friend came into the room shamefully. "I was going to ask you what are we going to do until Mel arrives."
"Well, I was thinking about the same thing." Alek spoke as she sat on the bed she had arranged after changing. "What should we do?"
"I may have an idea." Alex didn't look into her eyes. "But you might not like it."
"Why? As long as it's not like telling or watching horror stuff I'm okay." She was pretty afraid of zombies and ghosts.
"Are you sure?" Alex asked as he raised his gaze.
"Yep." Alek told him confidently.
"Okay. Let's go to your house." Alec quickly went to grab his small bag.
"What?!" Alek jumped off the bed and asked the excited boy in front of her.
"I want to get to know them. Your cousins and also I miss your family." Alec grinned as Alek groaned in frustration. She couldn't take back her words as she already said she was okay with the idea.
In the end, Alek followed her best friend with frustration to her house and let him spent some time with her family. Her mother was surprised to see them but, she welcomed them anyway.
There, the twins and Alex got close and, they even exchanged numbers. Alex was happy that her family didn't reject him or judge him even knowing his gay. He was afraid of the none-identical twins he saw earlier because they looked masculine and hot and, he thought they must not like him for being friends with their cousin. Clearly, he was stereotyping them. People in the university that Alek and he went to, there were a lot of hot, popular football guys like that and, they always bad-mouthed about him and, Alek always defended him with all her might.
He was surprised and, it made his heart warm. People in Alek's family never judged him for being gay and, he was happy about that. They weren't like the people in his school.
While Alex was having fun with her cousins, she had just stared at them or read a book on her phone. She didn't have anything else to do. Since her best friend was here and her family was supernaturals, she wanted to keep her eyes on him just in case somebody somewhere decides to tell him about the supernaturals for some reason.
They stayed in Alek's house until they had a text from Melvin. They even celebrated Alek's late birthday during late lunch.
