Azraiel's mouth hangs open, a question on the tip of his tongue, but before he can speak, Daniel’s gaze locks onto his. The intensity in his eyes is almost unsettling.
“Oh, and there are rumours that the fallen Alpha of the Black Onyx pack and the first-ever Trueblood, Emmanuel Reed, is alive!” Daniel announces, his voice cutting through the room like a knife.
The room collectively gasps the air thickening with a sudden, oppressive tension. Every pair of eyes widens in disbelief, and it feels as though the walls themselves have leaned in to listen.
“What?” Azraiel’s voice is barely a whisper, the word escaping him with a breathless urgency.
“Do these rumors have any possibility of being true?” Aunt Caitlyn’s voice shatters the silence, each syllable wrapped in an edge of unease.
Daniel sighs, a heavy sound that carries the weight of the world. “I believe that there is a high chance of him being alive,” he replies, his tone laced with a mix of dread and resignation.
