"He didn't make it clear when he called you?" Doctor Pan questioned the assistant.
"He mentioned suspicion of gastric varices rupture leading to massive upper gastrointestinal hemorrhage. Aren't gastric varices a sign of cirrhosis? Didn't you know the patient had cirrhosis when you performed intestinal surgery on him?" Tao Zhijie challenged back.
Doctor Pan earnestly replied, "I truly didn't know. He never mentioned having this condition when he came in by himself. His family didn't bring it up either when they brought him here. I will definitely have to re-ask his family after surgery."
"You only did a CT and didn't perform a hepatic biliary ultrasound?"
"Since we did a full abdominal CT, hepatic biliary issues would have shown up there as well."
