Chapter 5 - Chapter 5

We battled the fat-kid goblin just like how we did with horned rabbits but this time when I tried sneaking from behind its perceptive ability was higher than the rabbits. Every-time I tried to distract it by throwing a stone at a distance away and lunged attacked it from behind, for some reason unknown, it could predict where I'm about to strike. In the end, head-on collision is the only way to go. I always kept my distance from the target just to be safe and level up safely but now I'm tackling an enemy for the first time in full-on close combat.

I signaled Misumi to stay at the back for now, I placed myself in counter defensive stance where the shield is facing the enemy with my body in a lunge position while the sword is resting on the top right side of the shield ready to stab at any moment.

The little fat goblin creature just stood there smirking at my every move.

Little by little I close in to the little creature, watching its every movement until I'm at the distance where I immediately run towards the creature shield facing forward intending to ram the creature and use my body weight to pin it down on the ground.

As soon as the little goblin was hit by the shield and was about to hit the ground, it made its body flipped the other way and ended up landing on its feet and instantly pushed its body towards my shield and started hitting it with its stone axe repeatedly

GuGie! Gyah! (goblin yelling)

The goblin was yelling while it attacks my shield furiously until its stamina drops and the attacks slows down. As soon as I found myself a chance to counter, I was able to stab the sword toward its chest unexpectedly and was able to wound it severely and the goblin retreated far back.

One could see hatred from its eyes, while it grinds its teeth from anger

I could see the arm was constantly bleeding and made me think that this is a big chance, so I immediately lunged with all my might towards the small fat goblin holding the sword with both my hands and made a downward slash intending to decapitate it in half. The goblin reacted too late and that causes it its life, seeing what it drops confuses me a bit since the monster is only a bit intelligent and only a bit stronger than the previously defeated rabbit, the core it drops is shining in red hue, the cores found in creatures are mostly in black and grey in color and the shine determines its grade. The core dropped this time was shinning brightly and its red in color means the grade of the core is in its highest and its uncommon kind.

I showed my little sister what other item's the goblin dropped and she said she doesn't like the eyeglasses since it looks tacky, so I tried them myself and I thought this is a great find. The glasses shows the name and level of everything, so I looked at my little sister, on her head a name and her current level was displayed

Level 8:

Cai Misumi

I also tried it with a lot of thing specially the red core, transparent card and my equipment.

Level 10:

- Mutated goblin core (fire)

Level 5:

- Overly sharp normal sword

Level 5:

- Skeletal kite shield (sealed: 0/1000)

I got the feeling of not swapping my sword and shield to a new one was the the right choice, staring at my equipment without the use of the glasses wouldn't let you think that its related to undead since there are no indication that it is, the form and shape looks more closely to a knight shield than a undead shield as for the 0/1000 its probably about undead enemies I needed to defeat, as for the card I have no clue what's it for

Card: Unknown

After the battle we went and look for more mobs to kill but this time all the green goblins are small and malnourished, they're movement are pretty slow and they're attack are sloppy, compared to the beefy goblin facing normal goblins are walk in the park.

At the end of the day we hunted a total of 106 normal goblins and we got:

- 15 goblin rags

- 20 stone axes

- 15 crude skin

- 25 tough meat

- 30 small cores

After counting our spoils for the day I went ahead and Identified the things we got

Goblin rags: Dirty rags wore by goblins as their loin cloth, hard to clean

Stone axe: Low durability, mostly used for throwing

Crude skin: Light armor ingredient

Tough meat: mostly used as jerky or feed for livestocks

Small cores: harvested from small 1★ creatures, faint energy signature within

Just like before we sold our spoils at the guild and asked the reception about the transparent card

Cai Zhenn:

Margarette do you know what this is? We found this after killing the malnourished looking green creature north-west from here.

(Of course we wouldn't say its from a mutant creature)

After showing the reception the transparent card she said that they have been getting this weird spoils since before and they don't know what its used for, they're only buying it for 1 small copper coin but its been a long time and all the transparent card bought by the guild has been pilling up at the back and taking a-lot of space, there was also a discussion about not to buy them anymore because they are useless.

After some a bit of thinking i decided not to sell the card and just keep it for ourselves as a memento of the fight, we also kept the mutated goblin core

In total we earned about 7 small silver coins and 3 big copper coins

The next day we woke up early had breakfast and went straight for the street market to search for some treasures

(Money pouch: 1 Big silver, 1 small silver, 8 Big copper coin)

While holding my little sister's hand we scour thru the market so far there isn't much to see but as soon as we get to where the busy section of the street market, every stall were selling very interesting items. I didn't have to touch the stuff to see its information, the info are displayed right in-front of me after I focused on each items.

These are the list of items I think most interesting we saw throughout the market, as we have listed them one by one.

Red gloves: Can cast burning hands with its lesser flame and could used to imbue wielded weapons with flame attributes; flame attribute upgradable: 1 flame attribute core (1 Big silver coin)

Pendant of the pixies: a charm that protects ones life from a normal 2 star creature; Remaining uses: 3/10

(5 Big silver coin)

Vest of Vigor: Gives user extra 10 on vitality attributes while being worn (1 Small gold coin)

Bracelet of Strength: Gives user extra 10 on strength attributes while being worn (1 Small gold coin)

Crystal core: (unknown); buy out price (8 small gold coin)

Blood core: (unknown); buy out price (5 small gold coin)

Card sleeve: (unknown); buy out price (1 small gold coin)

Thru all the listed items only the Red gloves is within our budget, so we head back to the one selling it.

As soon as we arrived to the stall of the one selling the gloves, I saw the seller wearing the gloves and playing with the flame with its hand, my sister who have not seen street performance before, immediately made an applause to that person.

Big brother!, Big brother!, that is so amazing

Kid are you having fun with my performance?

Yeah, yeah, can you do more mister!?

Of course kid just watch!

The seller grabbed a weapon he was selling and casted that lesser flame and slowly the sword he was holding started glowing red, right after he took an old sword underneath the stall counter and hit the red glowing sword, the sword without the red glow was immediately cut in half then boast about the red gloves capability to the kid watching him do a performance but then his head started to hurt and he lost focus, he was about to fall face flat to the ground but I caught him in the nick of time.

Hey old man are you ok?

Huh! Uh, yeah i'm ok young one

What happened back there? If you don't mind me asking

I'm lacked of mana young'n, just exhausted my mana back there and lost my focus. You see in my early days of adventuring after I was saved i focused all my stats to VIT and STR until I found this red gloves, but it was too late its keeps getting harder and harder to level up now than before, so I ended up selling this trick gloves is what I called it since I only used it for warming things up, but if you placed more mana into the gloves, the thing I did before can be replicated.

Ahh so that's why..

Would you mind me buying that from you, my little sister seems to loved the trick you did.

Sure young'n for a matter of fact, its been a while since I have someone to speak to, so what I'm saying is just give me a 7 small silver and its yours …

Sure old man, here you go. As I handed him the payment he handed me the red gloves he was wearing on top of another gloves.

I was curious why he would put it on top of another gloves until I saw its description

Merchant gloves:

- gives its wearer additional 40 stats in Persuasiveness

I just swear in my mind without showing my expression to him, I felt I was just scammed for some reason and who knows if his story is real

So after we bought the gloves just like yesterday and the day before that, we accepted a couple quest and proceeded to test out the gloves capabilities ourselves
