Chapter 9 - Chapter 9

~Back to Ella's P.O.V~

I don't know how long it's been since I was taken, but it has felt like forever. I've tried numerous times to get through the pack links, but to no avail.

'Lucian?' I've tried screaming, regular talking, everything but nothing seems to work. Either I'm too far away or the walls have silver in them preventing the mindlink from working. My wrists stung from the restraints and glancing down told me what I feared, pure silver chains. My heart rate increased and spots danced around as flashbacks came washing in.

"You worthless piece of shit. If you can't even get your sister ready, how do you expect to ever be useful to anyone!" my stepmother screams at me grabbing my arm and throwing me into the stairs. Her hands wrap around my throat and she repeatedly bashes my head against the edge of the stairs. Gripping my bicep hard she drags me up the stairs too hard to where I can't catch my footing and she fully drags me up the stairs. Throwing me through the garage doorway I hit my face against the cement floor. I felt my cheek split as she rips me up into a sitting position by my hair. Throwing me against the wall she places her foot into my lap keeping me from standing up. Putting on rubber gloves she wraps a silver chain around my left wrist and connects it to the wall so I can't move. Trying to scream for help my voice goes hoarse after an hour of screaming. The more I tugged the deeper the metal dug into my wrist. Crimson blood blooms against my skin and slowly drips to the floor. Reaching up with my right hand I softly touch my cheek. Wincing I pull my fingertips away and see red against them. My healing wasn't working and I could thank my lovely stepmother for that. The silver rendered my healing useless and it wouldn't fully heal until it was off my wrist. Clenching my jaw I try attempting to remove chains myself. As soon as my fingers brush the metal it burns causing me to rip my hand away. Leaning my head against the garage wall I give up. Slowly closing my eyes I succumb to a very painful restless sleep.

The memory fades out and I'm thrown back into reality. Here I was again chained by silver not knowing when the next attack will be. A few minutes later the same vampire that took me steps into the room. A horrifying grin spread across his face.

"Well look who's finally awake." His voice is icy and hard on my eardrums. Trying to flinch away the chains dig deeper causing me to cry out.

"That's how I like my meals, feisty with some fight left in them." my eyes widen and I fight harder against the restraints not caring how badly they dug in and how much blood drips to the floor. The man's grin widens and he steps closer.

"I haven't had wolf blood in a long while. I'm starving!" He hisses at me as his fangs elongate and he dives straight for my throat. A strange euphoric moment happens the second his teeth dig into my flesh. I'd heard about this happening, the second a vampire's fangs break the skin a pleasurable feeling erupts through your body making you think you enjoy it. Mind clearing I fight harder against the restraints and against him trying to shake him off. He pulls away red blood dripping down his chin as a murderous smile is plastered on his lips.

"I'd kill you, but you're just too delicious to keep around," he says sadistically before turning to his entourage, "we're moving her tonight I've heard the wolf patrols getting too close." He orders before disappearing through the doorway. If I'm being moved that means I should have a chance to get through to Lucian at least for a moment. I just have to make it that long. Fighting the urge to close my eyes I force them to stay open. I have to stay awake long enough to be moved so I can reach out to him.

Hours passed and they finally came in to retrieve me, I pretended to be passed out so they wouldn't have to sedate me or anything. I felt them undo the chains and heard them drop to the floor. If I had more strength I'd take the opportunity to fight back, but right now I have to get location so I can inform Lucian. I felt them carry me to what sounded like a van and then tossed me in. Chaining my wrists up against the van walls before shutting the back door. Opening my eyes I look around, they didn't use silver this time, their mistake.

'Lucian?' I tried reaching out to him once more, I felt the bond strengthen just a touch and I knew I finally made contact.

'Ella! Oh my Goddess Ella!? Is it really you?' his voice came through and a huge sigh of relief escaped my lips. I finally made contact.

'I don't have much time, my strength is running thin. Please help me. I'm on the move. They aren't using silver this time. I think I can get out.' After I said help me I felt the bond weaken so I don't think he heard the last part, but I hoped he did. Straining my ears I listen to the front of the van, two vampires not paying attention to the back. Perfect.

'I'm ready. We have just enough strength to get out and far enough away. We just need to get close to our territory and we will be okay.' Rhea murmurs to me giving me just the motivation I needed. Clenching my teeth I let my hands half shift into paws to slip through the cuffs. Once freed I stand up quiet as a mouse and make my way to the door, doing the calculations in my head I figured I'd have maybe five minutes before they realized what happened. By then I'd have to be fully shifted and gone into the woods. Deciding now was my only shot, I took it. Throwing my weight against the door it flies open, jumping through I initiate the shift. The pain wasn't as bad as before this time around which meant the change was just going to get easier from this moment on. Fully shifted by the time my paws hit the ground I take off. Hitting the treelines and getting maybe fifty feet away I hear the tires of the van squeal and slam to a halt.

"SHE'S GONE!!!" I hear one of them scream as the two doors slam on the van.

"Find her! The king won't be happy that we let her escape." the other states grabbing out a flashlight. They have great night vision, but I knew the flashlights were just to help illuminate the trees. I had to go now or I'd be spotted for sure. Sprinting off in the direction I think is our territory I don't stop. I just kept running, my paws burned and my lungs ached but I pushed on.

I ran for at least thirty miles before I finally slowed down. If they had followed they would've caught me by now. Stopping at the creek that was quietly bubbling nearby I took a few refreshing gulps of the water. Stepping into the creek I roll over in it masking my scent before continuing on.

I made it twelve more miles before my paws collapsed underneath me. Just as darkness started washing over me I saw a figure approaching just as the darkness fully took over.
