"He must have been bad, for these people to even think of killing..... I.. disposing him. Right?" said Velox. "Were they able to do it?" asked Anelle.
Zenon pursed his lips "it'll be hard for them to fail obvious so the question is how?"
Anelle felt more confused, in all her years of living with Cellus she never heard anything about disposing immortals. He wasn't a great talker but she should have seen it somewhere, in his library or something. No one ever talked about it, or even imagined it.
"They mentioned something about a soul blazing knife, but most of the things here are coded" Velox said and she almost regretted it at once.
No ordinary person could easily understand it because it was written in high profile coding. They were really discreet.
"You can read it?" Zenon asked suprised. "Yes, just a little" she answered. "Wow, I couldn't understand anything written there apart from the names so I was going to ask one of my men to take it outside the city to translate it" he said.
Velox sighed she had already started so she could only keep on going
"This isn't a foreign language, it is a code. Only powerful force users, sorcerers and diviners can understand it. People who use pivot and herb cultivators also use it to mark a deadly plant" she explained.
They were quiet for a while before Anelle spoke
"That means that whatever they wrote here killed the immortal and they didn't want anyone to know about it. If something this big happened around twenty years ago why is there nothing on it? People would have been thrilled about it."
Zenon sat back looking at them "I found out that at that time there were four immortals. However, they had been separated from each other and only two were together. After that time those two disappeared. So the most logical explanation I have for this is that they killed one and the other is avenging his death"
"Why would they do that? Just what did he do?" asked Anelle.
"I couldn't find that out, if they wrote the reason in the scroll we can probably find out" he replied looking at Velox. "I can't do that right now, I'll have to check some references and study it before I can be sure" she said.
"Well, you can give it to us since you wouldn't be able to understand it anyway" said Anelle.
"I will give you a copy, I need to also find a way to decode mine. It isn't hard to find someone who matches the requirement you just mentioned" he replied making Anelle a bit surprised.
"Are you going to do that even when you know how vital this is? You can't just let it get exposed it'll cause havoc in the martial world" she said
Zenon smiled viciously before replying her "I don't care about the martial world or anything. My job is to gather information and sell it just like I'm doing to you right now, Why? Because I'm an informant. If you're afraid of the names getting out then you should save your fear for what I'm about to tell you next" he said.
On the way back to their inn Velox watched Anelle as she walked quietly. "Don't think about it too much" said Velox breaking the silence. "He was right about what he said, we just have to be careful about what we say to him" she continued.
Anelle sighed before giving her a soft smile "I just find it funny how he puts his occupation before his conscience. It means that if the killer get a hint that we're trying to find him, Zenon is capable of revealing us to him" she said.
Velox stopped in her tracks realizing just how dangerous that could be.
"Maybe we should stop going to him, I can find out a lot from this scroll and we will put the pieces together by ourselves. It might be difficult but it is better than walking into a trap that will cost our lives".
Anelle nodded in response as they both entered the inn.
Achlys felt a bit weak after their evening classes so she decided to stay back in the class. The school had been busy preparing their outings so it had been a while since they trained.
"I should try training today on my own", she stood up and made her way to the backyard. As expected no one was there, she went to the center where she could easily get a clear view of everything that was there.
She had mastered her force field after she came here and her strength was close to being completed. She wanted going to break through the last level of strength today. She looked around for something heavy she could try moving for a start. They were a lot of trees around so she thought of moving one but she hesitated when considering the impact it could cause.
This was a largely rooted tree, she had read about some extremely powerful masters who had some misunderstandings with some people whose strength was equal to his. He and his enemies went to a small village to settle their score. The fight was brutal as it was a clash of powerhouses.
They destroyed a lot of buildings and it got worse when they started moving up trees to attack each other. They uprooted a lot with their powers to the extent that the village experienced an earthquake.
She had to think of something else, she was scanning the area for anything before her eyes landed on a huge rock which was close to the fence. 'This should be alright' she thought before activating her powers.
She allowed it to run through every part of her body before releasing it, but all of a sudden it repulsed and sent her flying until she almost passed out before dropping to the ground.
"What is wrong?"
