Chapter 4 - Chapter 3 - SS-rank hunter, Dark

Felmore is the largest capital city of new earth after the big battle that happened when the gates first appeared. Monsters ranging from A to SS came through the gates in many numbers and laid waste to the continents. That was when the people from the other world came to earth. They were the ones who were the first adventurers.

After many years of populating our world, even more people began awakening their powers from having DNA from people of the other world.

The leaders of both worlds came to a decision to unite the two worlds. That was the reason for the currency being Fel for both worlds.

I bought a cup of coffee from the convenience store while waiting for the train. The subway was packed today with people who arrived from the other world. Just by seeing them being amazed by everything, I could tell who was from the other world.

"Shit…"

The coffee was so hot when I drank it.

"Did Farnese fly using magic?"

I was shocked that she was that embarrassed to be seen with her brother. Or could it be that she only acts that way but has a huge crush on me?

I shook my head at my stupid thought. If that really was the case then she would be a great actor. I've been told I'm hated by her ever since our mother left us. She insults her big brother with no regards for his little heart.

We always took baths together and slept together. I miss how close we were before.

'Does Farnese have a boyfriend?'

That was on my mind every single time I saw her chatting on her phone with a smile on her face.

'Maybe I shouldn't force our relationship.'

I look pathetic whenever I try and get close to her. It's like a guy buttering up to his crush hoping she'd notice him.

"Haa…"

Tomorrow is my birthday.

Will she ignore me again this year like all the other years?

Only Claudia ever gave me presents. She even took me to a restaurant last year for my 17th birthday. I wonder what I'll get tomorrow. That's the only thing I look forward to. Alice probably doesn't give a damn and Paul is always working late.

I heard the sound of metal scraping against metal.

'The train?'

It was fast approaching from my left. It was getting closer as the noise became louder.

"Young lady! Please be careful! You might stumble."

"Oh, shush, Ellie. I won't fall."

A girl with drill blonde hair stood next to me. She was taking selfies with a phone that looked like it was made from diamonds.

"I must say this item is truly wonderful! It's like looking in a mirror! I look so adorable! Why don't you take one with me, Ellie?"

"N-No thank you, young lady."

She was wearing expensive jewellery that blinded my eyes when I looked directly into it.

'These rich young ladies are really ignorant of everything.'

They'd buy everything when they come to our world just because they think it's cute. The phone she had was a product that cost the price of a car. It came out earlier this year.

Since they are natives of the other world, they want to experience everything earth has to offer.

'Doesn't Alice also have one?'

"Hey, you!"

When I was about to dig inside my nose, the drill haired young lady called out to me.

"Err, yes?"

"You're standing in the way. I don't want your ugly face in my photos. Move."

She coldly shoved me to the side and walked passed me.

'What a bitch.'

Her servant was trying to stop her from walking near the edge where the tracks were. The girl just ignored her and put some headphones on her ears.

'What's taking so long?'

That was my thought when I heard a screeching sound. The train tracks were vibrating uncontrollably.

"What's going on?"

"Is it the train?"

The other people also looked down the left tunnel. All we could see was darkness.

I squinted my eyes when the noise got louder.

'Wait… something's wrong…'

There were noises of cables snapping and something being scrapped off concrete.

RUMBLE—!

The entire subway shook. I almost fell down onto the tracks that were still vibrating.

WHOOSH—!

Suddenly, a metallic bar snapped out of the wall. It broke through the pillars and landed a hit on someone.

"GAH!!"

The person was flung into a nearby shop.

"Danger!"

"Run!"

In the dark I saw something big approaching us.

'Huh? The train?'

I looked at the driver seat and saw no one controlling the train.

"Oh, shit!"

I was about to run but then I saw that the train was coming too fast.

'I won't make it!'

"Young lady! We have to go!"

The servant finally managed to tell her.

"Huh? Kyaaa! Get me out of here!"

Her phone fell on the ground as she hysterically ran towards the stairs.

"Out of the way!"

I was once again shoved to the side like before.

"You bitch!"

I didn't have time to swear any further.

"Ugh!"

I fell down the edge of the sidewalk onto the train tracks.

My back hit the wall.

"… Fucking bitch…"

The chaos ensued and a few people was even hurt by the falling debris.

The train was so close that I could feel my death approaching.

'Huh…? Is this where I die?'

I was paralyzed with fear on the ground. My legs shook as I unsteadily got up and saw the train head towards me.

'Why the hell does it not have a driver…'

I looked around.

The people were trying to get out but since the entire subway rumbled violently, chunks of debris fell on the entrances. The people were trying to lift the debris as the train was headed down the tunnel.

Isn't this the situation where the main character unlocks their cheat power to save the people?

I looked at my uniform and the crest of the Adventurer Academy.

"…"

I tightened my fists.

'Maybe I can save one or two people.'

There were other students who also tried saving the people but since they had first year badges, they didn't have a lot of experience with situations like these.

RUMBLE—!

A second rumble caused the wall next to me to break off. The train must've been going at near light speed before it was forcibly stopped. Imagine the energy the stop must've released.

The subway was a fairly old one that's been around for a few decades already. I take the Bullet MK1 every morning. They say it's one of the fastest trains in the country. It usually goes through richer populated areas but since some students live around here they decided to built one to come through this tunnel.

It must be that the subway couldn't handle the force of the energy. The driver must've died from the pressure.

"D-Don't worry, everyone…"

My voice sounded feeble and without any confidence, I declared.

"I-I'll save you…."

The train was a few meters away.

It was slower than before but it could still kill everyone if it isn't stopped.

My eyes were filled with determination as I loudly shouted.

"Dammit! Just this once! Give me a cheat!"

Those black boxes must mean something!!!

I threw away my backpack and held up my arms.

That was all I could do as I looked at my inevitable death. I thought my life was flashing before my eyes.

"---!!!"

With a loud roar I closed my eyes and gritted my teeth, awaiting the dumb miracle I thought would be cast upon me.

But everything went silent.

I tried opening my eyes.

"Huh?"

I saw black mana surrounding the train and holding it in place. It was the same for the debris as well. They couldn't even budge from the magic keeping them in place.

'This was… my doing?'

The train was instantly stopped by the spatial magic surrounding it.

No... This wasn't my doing.

I couldn't feel any power inside my body.

"Then who…?"

A voice suddenly sounded after I asked.

"Worry not citizens." A deep voice spoke. Like someone's face was covered by a mask.

It was coming from my right side where the city was visible through the cracked wall. I looked over and was almost blinded by the light. After rubbing my eyes, I finally saw what was the cause of all this.

It was someone dressed in all black. His entire body was covered in a futuristic armour made from dark metal, a new element recently found in dungeons.

His name is known by many. They call him one of the strongest adventurers of the two worlds. Even if he classifies as an adventurer, no one is able to get him to join their guilds. He always works solo and never even attends social events for adventurers. He didn't even join any S rank teams when they did a dungeon raid in an S dungeon a few years ago.

They call him…

"It's Dark!!!" Someone shouted and pointed at the man hovering in the sky. He was covered by black mana that released an overwhelming pressure.

Dark. A hunter with a ranking of SS.

He looked like a god as he levitated in the sky.
