It was so easy to forget some things in the past when the present got way too good to live in.

Ercilia looked on, dazed and weakened. The world around her continued to burn in an eternal fiery waltz, and across from where she remained unmoving, there lay the figure buried underneath the ashes of her memories. Delaney seemed dead, still and motionless.

This wasn't how she expected their reunion would go down. This wasn't how she wanted things to turn out between them.

But more than any of that, Ercilia didn't know what to make out of what just occurred.
