Chapter 25 - The Text

"So, do we start now?" asked Tiffany.

"Let's start by packing some stuff into our handbags," suggested Jackie.

Kaitlin nodded.

They were back in Kaitlin's house. Emerson was laying by the side of the sofa, looking tired. After Jackie's phone call, Tiffany and Kaitlin said their goodbyes to Natalie, Judea, and Amity, and drove to Tiffany's house, where she retrieved her stock of fairy dust.

Then, with Kaitlin hanging on to the car for dear life, Tiffany drove at top speed to Kaitlin's house. By then, it was already almost one.

"Let's put all of our fairy dust together then sort them." Said Kaitlin. She pushed her stock of fairy dust forward, the vials clinking.

Tiffany grabbed her vials and counted, "Umm, I have 9."

Jackie counted hers as well, "I have 4."

Kaitlin counted hers quietly, "And I have… 11!"

"You do have a lot," laughed Tiffany. She added up the digits and pronounced, "So we each get 8, the total was 24."

"We should save some here though, just in case." Said Jackie, she grabbed eight vials, then put 2 back in the pile.

"So now we each get 6, and the number that is left is 6, perfect." Exclaimed Tiffany.

Fairy dust is used by all magical creatures as a way of increasing ones stamina, strength, or fighting power. It could also be used to heal. Fairy dust is collected from the wings of fae and valuable to all.

They each stored their vials of fairy dust carefully in their own handbags.

"Time for the chakram and daggers." Groaned Kaitlin.

Tiffany laughed and said, "We should just each take two chakram's and two daggers, it's simpler that way."

"Okay."

Mermaid use chakrams are made from Nacre, the florescent lining within mussles or other mollusk shells. They are one of the hardest materials in the world. Shaped into a circular design, it has detailed spikes poking out on all sides with a handle in the middle. Often used as a large knuckle ring during fighting, or thrown to attack opponents.

Mermaid daggers ranged from a variety of materials. From Nacre, to shark teeth, to other shells molded into dagger designs. The handle is made of whale skin leather, and bejeweled with pearls which held magic to increase the power of each dagger when used.

Tiffany stood up and went over to grab her whip. She flicked it across the floor and it cracked loudly.

"Hell yes, I think this is still good," exclaimed Tiffany with a glint in her eyes.

"Ooo, where's my bow and arrow?" asked Kaitlin. She jumped up from her seat and grabbed her bow. "Can the arrow still change into a spear?"

She grabbed an arrow tightly and imagined it elongating. The tip of the arrow became larger and sharper. It stood about 5 feet tall, the rose gold length shimmered under the light.

Jackie whooped with excitement and rushed over to her twin swords and picked them both up. Striking a pose, she brandished the swords in an arc and pretended to fight. Tiffany whirled her whip and wrapped it around Jackie's right sword, pulling on it. Jackie held on with great strength and using her left-hand sword, twirled it around and to start expertly prying of Tiffany's whip. All the while, she was circling her right sword, trying to attack.

Just as Tiffany thought she had won, the whip loosened as Tiffany loosened her grip and Jackie elbowed her hard in the ribs, whirling around. She thrust her sword forward, trying to find a weak spot. Tiffany blocked all the attacks and whipped her weapon towards Jackie, who parried all of them.

This went on for a while, Kaitlin watching them with interest. She laughed at all of the attemps Jackie and Tiffany tried to attack the other with. None of them hitting home.

At long last, Tiffany whipped her left whip upwards for a false attack. Her right arm flicked the whip around Jackie and it wrapped around her body. Securing Jackie, then Tiffany drew her staggering forward. She pulled a dagger from her belt and held it up to Jackie's neck.

"I win," breathed Tiffany. She laughed and released Jackie.

Kaitlin, who was watching them, clapped and chuckled. "Jackie, you can't let all your defenses go down when you got loose."

Looking disgruntled, Jackie snorted then said, "You cheated with the dagger."

"You're sad because of that?" Tiffany looked incredulous. Then she said formally but sarcastically, "I could have just whipped the enemy to shreds but since you're my friend, I guess it is my duty to spare you."

"You also train like every day, I don't."

Tiffany and Kaitlin glanced at each other, then burst out laughing.

"What's so funny?" Jackie glared at them, leaning on the wall.

"Nothing…" Kaitlin said unconvincingly, not looking at Jackie.

Tiffany strode over to the pile of daggers and chakrams. She grabbed two of each and stuffed them into her Diorama styled mini clutch handbag. "Um… take some of these."

Jackie, still staring the two of them down carefully, took two of each also and tucked them away in her Miss Dior clutch.

Kaitlin grinned at Jackie and followed.

"So what was funny," asked Jackie with a frown.

Tiffany and Kaitlin shared another look.

"Jackie..." Kaitlin began.

"Uh, how could I have trained with my weapon when it has been locked at Kaitlin's this entire time?" Tiffany cut in with a smirk on her face.

Jackie opened her mouth, then closed it as an afterthought.

"Maybe I'm just skilled naturally," laughed Tiffany good-naturedly.

"Hmph, you still cheated," Jackie muttered.

"I don't know about you but I am also packing my combat boots," whistled Tiffany.

She had brought her combat boots with her when getting the fairy dust from her house. Also a few books were piled high on the counter. Tiffany stuffed each of the books inside her clutch, the books disappearing inside like magic.

But it was magic, thought Tiffany smiling to herself.

"I have an idea," began Jackie. "Since it's not even 2 yet and we leave at 6, we should each pack our own things then meet back here to change and get going."

"Good idea, but some important things to bring; clothes, make-up, and money." Said Tiffany.

Kaitlin looked at her, puzzled, "Money? Where are we even going?"

"Uh, somewhere dark and fucking creepy," Jackie whispered from the corner.

She was still sulking after the quick match between her and Tiffany.

Tiffany glared at her.

"What?" Jackie asked with a shrug. "We have to assume the worst."

"Or hope for the best," Kaitlin sighed.

Tiffany's phone buzzed suddenly, and she glanced down at her phone. Her brows furrowed as her eyes scanned the screen, and she quickly pocketed her phone, grabbing her keys.

Kaitlin looked at her, surprised at her sudden movement.

"Anyways," Tiffany looked at them anxiously. "I'm going to get some more stuff from my house."

"Didn't we already go?" Kaitlin asked, peering at Tiffany from across the room.

Tiffany avoided her gaze, "I forgot some clothes."

Jackie glared at the two of them, "Stop being weird and just go."

Tiffany hurried out of the room with a little wave of goodbye.

"What was that about?" Kaitlin looked at Jackie who shrugged.

"Maybe it's her little boyfriend."
