Chapter 7 - Valley City (1)

*Clip clop*

A womanly figure walks into the hallway. The hallway was almost empty, only a few people were seen walking around there. It was a big hallway with a high ceiling full of historical ornaments. Despite historical looks, this place is the hub of many technological advancements.

The woman then turns left and goes inside a round elevator. The elevator goes down, through the basements, and finally arrives in the underground corridor. It led to an enormous door with many layers on it. Then the woman passes them all and goes inside the lab.

The lab is full of arguing scientists, and a big holographic screen of the world map is shown with some dots in it.

-What should we do now?

-These distortions are everywhere!

-Who did this?

-We must wait for the headmaster! Surely she knows something about this.

Her name is Gracie Vana, headmaster of Ravenna Academy. She was wearing her formal clothes with a pair of glasses.

Some scientists then approach her to ask and give information about the problem they encountered recently.

"Miss Gracie. This is the recent update about the space-time distortion we encountered recently." said a scientist while handing some paper to her.

"So this is the second time we have distortions, huh? When was the last time we had this problem? Have you found any information?" Gracie replied.

"It's 1 month ago. We have discussed this with the Orions, but some of them refused to cooperate. Regarding the distortion now, it is different."

"What's the difference?"

"Instead of one, now we have 6 points, scattered to every part of Oloras."

"Six points?" Gracie feels confused. 'Is this a new threat?' She thought. The number seems to multiply; it would be a problem if these distortions continued.

But maybe the clue is not the number, instead of the place where the distortions are.

"Could you tell me about the locations?"

"Hikamia, Saki, Astralle, Ellera, there's one each of them. There is one near the land region of Aquarine, and the last one is…." the scientist replied.

"All of them are the Union's countries. Is the last distortion here? In Ravenus?"

The scientist shakes his head.

"No, Miss…. The last distortion happens in Elion, for be exact, the valley city, Lux."

Gracie frowned at her face.

"That's weird. What is the connection between Lux and the Union?"

She falls into deep thought. This is a strange case. The distortion seems to follow a pattern, it happened in Union countries except for the last case.

"Unless…."

Gracie realized what caused these distortions. If her prediction is correct, then the culprit is….

"I think I know the source of this problem. We will proceed to Lux, now!"

….

I woke up and saw a ceiling I didn't recognize. Then I realized I was laying down in a bed with a blanket on top of my body.

Where am I?

I try to sit and see my surroundings. It was a clean, white room. On the right, I see a gigantic window that was covered by a curtain. The light is off, but everything is still visible because of sunlight coming from the gap between the curtains. It's morning. That was the one thing I can be sure of.

Before I open the curtains, I continue my observation of this room. The bed is not too big, it's a twin-sized bed with a light-green floral bedsheet, white pillow sheet, and white blanket. The bed was made of wood. There's a small white table on both sides, the right one has small plants on it. meanwhile on the left there's a small table lamp.

The table lamp that was off didn't have any wires on it. And I don't see any electric sockets either.

On my left, there's a drawer and a medium-sized mirror. I look in the mirror and see that I'm still in my waitress uniform.

Then I opened the curtains. In an instant, my eyes were blinded by the light, especially because the sun was coming in front of me. It means that I'm facing east right now.

After my eyes adjusted to the light, I saw beautiful scenery. No wonder I was freezing. This house was on a hill, and I saw a valley city. The fog is visible; the plants on the balcony had quite a lot of dew on it. And there's a lake across the city.

This place feels so serene, maybe a perfect place for holidays. It kinda reminds me of a certain district in my hometown.

This room is on the second floor, I thought.

The sunlight that pierced into this bedroom reveals all details. This bedroom is a dream aesthetic bedroom that is usually seen on Pinterest. There are so many plant ornaments, so cozy and lovely. It feels fresh too.

But there's one thing that seems out of place.

The door.

It is a metal door with neon lines on it. This cyberpunk-like door does not fit the aesthetics of this room.

I am disappointed.

But back to the first question. Where am I?

Is this the 6th world? What was that called, Oloras? But I thought they transported me into a normal, medieval fantasy world instead of a modern-looking world.

And after Ava sacrifices herself, her blast threw me out and became unconscious after that. How do I get here then? Did I, like, sleepwalking and steal someone's house? Nope. That's impossible.

*Beep*

*Zzzt*

After that, the door opens.

A woman came and brought me a tray of breakfast. She looks like a countryside girl, with long, brown, wavy hair tied to the side.

"Good morning. Are you sleeping well?" She asks me with a pleasant voice.

Then she put the tray on the top of the drawer. Upon a clear look, she has a grey-colored eye that makes her look intelligent and wise.

"Yes…. Thank you. Who are you?"

"My name is Rain. I found you near my tea plantation, so I brought you here." She replied to my answer.

"A…. Tea plantation?"

"Yes. You were unconscious when I found you. I tried to wake you up but you didn't move at all so I was worried."

So after I crossed the white door in Paraeia, I ended up here, huh…. But why a tea plantation, above all other places?

"Well, we can talk about that later. I have made you breakfast. Please enjoy it."

Then she opened the drawer and handed me some clothes and toiletries.

"The bathroom is over there, on the right side of this room. I hope these clothes suit you well." She smiled and left this room. "I'll keep this door open. See you soon."

Why is she so kind to strangers? She makes breakfast and lends me her clothes.

I must repay her act of kindness. No matter what happens.

And….

The food was so delicious it made me speechless.

After that, I leave the bedroom and try to find the bathroom.

There is a large room with a sofa and a small table in the middle outside the bedroom, and there are stairs to the first floor is on the left, and on the right, there are two more rooms. One of them must be in the bathroom.

Again, the doors for those rooms don't match at all with the aesthetics of this house.

I chose the closest room, and I found the bathroom.

It is a modern style bathroom, with a shower.

Am I being transported into the right world? This isn't fantasy at all.

Ava's crew wears fantasy-like clothes, and the world they are coming from is this modern? In addition, they use magic and fantasy weapons.

Well, whatever. At least I didn't have that many cultural shocks here. This stuff is a luxury for me. I'm pretty happy.

"Ahh…." I enjoyed the bath in warm water while thinking about the event in Paraeia.

It's a strange event indeed, and this event really changed my life.

But in this place…. I am tempted to live monotonously again.

Then I finished my bath and went downstairs. Rain is waiting for me in the dining room, near the kitchen. This house has good air circulation, with a sliding glass door that opens to a garden. A room divider divides the living room with the dining room and the kitchen.

"Ah, I knew it! We are the same size. You look so pretty on it!" Said Rain while complimenting my appearance.

I wear a countryside-style dress. The fabric is so soft and comfortable. In the future, I want to fill my wardrobe with this clothing style. But my hometown is humid and hot; it's regrettable.

"Thank you for everything. I don't know how I should repay you."

"Don't worry about it! Now, please sit down, and let's talk."

I take a chair near her and sit. Suddenly, she emits an intimidating aura.

"I never see you before. Where are you from?" She asked her first question.

"I…. Uh…. I came from…. A-a faraway country."

How I supposed to answer that? Should I answer with "I'm from another world" just like that?

"Faraway country? You sure it's not 'another world'?"

*gulp* I got caught.

"W-wait, I-I'm sorry! I didn't mean to deceive you after you treat me with kindness. I thought you would laugh if I say I come from another world-"

I stand up and bow my head to her.

Rain looked at me, confused.

"Huh? Am I correct then? You came... from another world?"

Her reply shocked me. Is she joking when replied to my answer?

"Oh, so you were joking then, sorry about that-"

"AHAHAHAHAHAHA!" She burst into laughter. "No, it's okay."

"What?"

"You were right. I was joking. But I 'another world' is more believable than 'faraway country'. So, I accept your answer!"

She is weird. Super duper weird. What part of "another world" that more believable than 'faraway country'?

"So, which world are you come from?"

"Its…. Earth."

"Oh? You mean the 3rd world?"

Again, her reply shocked me. What does she know about earth? Is she knowing about how to return to Earth?

"You know Earth? Tell me. How can I return there?" I asked with sparkling eyes. Without realizing it, my body was advancing too close to Rain.

"Ah! Sorry, I only hear it in my schooldays; they teach us that there's another world that parallel with us, the 3rd world."

"Huh? Is that so?"

Now I'm immune to shocking statements. I take back my previous opinion that this was a "modern" world. This is definitely a fantasy world.

"Anyway, welcome to Oloras! Right now you were in the valley city, Lux!" she said with a bright smile. "Because you can't return to earth. For now, can I call you little sister?"

"Say that again?"

Did she ask me to be her… little sister?

"Yes yes! I always wanted a little sister. Unfortunately, I only have a brother and he's too handsome to be my brother, so… pretty please?"

I have an indescribable amount of sigh.

"Fine…. I'll be your little sister."

At least, the life I have now is not so monotonous.

Then the doorbell ring. We stop our conversation, for now.

"I'll go check it. I think my brother has come home." said Rain while going to the front door.

Curiosity came to me. I went follow Rain to the front door to see her "handsome" brother.

A man with a tall, slender body came. This man has a face that I know very well.

"Daniel?"
