The Rodriguez Study Room
Randy stopped there, staring off into the abyss. Kolleen grasped his arm with concern. "What's the matter Ran-Ran?" At that moment, the room felt extremely hot; his face was covered in sweat. He started to feel a slight pain in his chest again, which shot up and down his arms. "I'm fine, Kol. Just give me some time to catch my breath." His hands were shaking slightly as he held his journal open and his eyes were fogging up, causing him to blink rapidly. Lori walked up to him, tugging on his arm sleeve. Charlie and the twins were sitting on the floor, staring at him with fear.
"Randy, you're beginning to scare the kids." There was a loud ringing going on in his head; he shut his eyes tight at an attempt to block it out. All he could hear was a loud, booming yell and then the sound of steel smashing flesh. He placed his eyes into his hands to rub them a bit. That horrifying sound kept plaguing his mind. He remembered seeing sweat stains intermingling with the fresh red ones. He looked up at the ceiling, with his eyes blinded from the bright lights. The room was spinning; he saw the people watching blur together into a giant mass. The only thing that appeared clear to him was the action in the ring.
A ladder was set up in the middle; there was an enormous man climbing it. He had to stop him… "Randy!" Kolleen screamed. The scene around him dissolved like acid was poured onto it. He jerked back awake, noticing he was lying sideways in his chair.. There was a bit of drool coming from the side of his mouth. He groaned, as the headache subsided as fast as it arrived. He saw Charlie and the twins first, all of which couldn't have been anymore scared in their lives. "Are you okay Grandpa?" Charlie asked. He sat up, grunting as he did so. It wasn't until he saw Lori, and then he broke down with sadness.
"I'm so sorry kids, I do not mean for these thing to happen." He rubbed his temples briefly, taking his breaths in as slow as possible. His lovely wife patted his hand, drawing his attention. Her distraught face was tearing his heart into tiny pieces. "I'm fine Kol, trust me." She shook her head, smiling as she did so. "If you say so Ran-Ran." Lightning struck outside, followed by a very close thunder. It was so loud that it shook the very foundation of the house itself. Lori screamed and then the lights went out, cascading them with semi-darkness.
If it weren't for the fireplace, they'd be shrouded in shadows. The twins curled up next to their great grandpa's legs, leaving Charlie on the rug. Randy waited, knowing Charlie would come up to him eventually; he did. "Can you continue the story Grandpa?" Lori asked him. He stretched his arm over and lifted her up off the floor onto his lap. "Of course I can Lori. Just sit back, relax and I will continue. And I'll try to stay with you all this time; I'm still... I'm so sorry about that by the way." He opened the journal again and continued to read. All of his great grandkids hugged and accepted him immediately, not even giving any issue about the previous issue.
