After tossing and turning in the bed for no wonder how long Kiara fell asleep and woke up when it was just about the time of sunset. Her stomach grumbled and it had started to hurt. She felt weak all over her body and didn't move. She picked up her phone from the side table and called Chelsi.
"Hello?" When Chelsi picked up the phone Kiara spoke in a weak voice.
"Hey! What's up?" Chelsi asked cheerfully.
"Nothing much, What about you, what are you doing now?" With her cheek on the pillow and a frown between her brows, she asked in a heavy voice.
"Is everything okay? Are you sick?" Chelsi noticed the change in her voice and asked worriedly.
"I don't think I am sick, it's just that there is something weird going on with me, I mean I can't really explain it and also I think I am kind of hungry as well. " she replied and yawned after that,
"Okay, I will get you something to eat, and we will talk about that weird stuff at the dinner table," Chelsi replied.
"Just what I wanted, Hurry up I am waiting for you," Kiara said and ended the call. She got out of bed and stood on the cold floor with her bare feet to soak in the uncomfortable cold so that she could wake up completely. The towel on her head had already come off and her hair was still wet in the roots. SHe simply tossed them to the back and turned on the laptop that lay on the desk and looked through the mails sent to her by her colleagues. She started to work in silence, The sound of her pen scribbling on the sheets accompanied by her occasional typing rang in the room. It was so quiet that she could hear her heartbeat as clearly as crystal. Though it was beating at a different rate today. And just like that, fully immersed in her work she forgot that she was ever hungry.
A thing about Kiara was that she was an extremely focused person, Once she would start working nothing could distract her from it, Not even her own heart. And same happened she didn't notice Chelsi enter her apartment nor did she see her walk up to her. Only WHen Chelsi gave her a slap on the forehead did she realize that there was someone in the room except for her.
"Oh! YOu are here? Already?" She was surprised when she saw Chelsi.
"Already? Did you see what time it is?" She asked.
"What time is…" She picked up her phone to notice that it had already been an hour.
"You and this work of yours will be the end of you one day," Chelsi said while shaking her head sideways. "Come on get up, Let's eat." She held Kiara by her arm and pulled her up.
They sat at the table and started eating their food but Chelsi felt a little odd. Unlike usual when they would have a conversation while they would eat, Kiara was oddly silent today. After glancing at her a few times, Chelsi let go of her spoon and asked her. "What happened? Is there something bugging you?"
"Huh?" Kiara looked up at her blankly. "What did you say?"
Chelsi gives her a dirty look before asking in a suspicious gaze. "Did you do something yesterday? Something you shouldn't have done?" She slowly crawled the table and closed the distance between her and Kiara.
Kiara got flustered and she looked away with a heavy laugh. "What are you talking about? What could I have possibly done?" She patted her chest as it had become way too airy in there.
"Did Robin do something?" Chelsi suspected her with him because he was probably the last person she was with after Chelsi collapsed. "Did you two…" She smiled creepily as she tapped her two fingers together.
Kiara, who suddenly got scared of her, jumped back and spoke in a breathless voice, she was baffled by the fact that her friend had such a colorful mind. Her cheeks almost completely flushed. "Why would I do anything to RObin!! HE is your brother!!"
Chelsi who saw the reaction as something truthful pulled herself back into her chair and looked at her with disappointment. "What if he is my brother? I never said you can't date him." She crossed her arms and puffed her cheeks. "So what is it then? Why are you so quiet today?" Chelsi started to interrogate again.
"It's nothing, I was just feeling a little tired and my house was creeping me out because it was too quiet so I called you out here," Kiara replied innocently. She wanted to tell Chelsi about the last night but she knew that Chelsi would get worried for no reason so she decided to remain silent.
'Hmm…" Chelsi stared at her for a while longer before saying. "Okay, I will believe you. But if you don't have anything to say then let me tell you some great news."
"Wait, let me guess…Did you find a new boyfriend?" Kiara made a very obvious statement'
Chelsi, who had an exciting expression a few seconds ago, scoffed at her. "You ruined it."
"I did? It's you who tells me that every other day with the same expression and expects me to get excited!! I mean, what is exciting about it anymore?" Kiara replied.
"Well now that you put it that way I really think I might be overdoing it." She shrugged her shoulders.
"But at least I am showing some progress every now and then, Unlike you who have never even gotten into a relationship." She attacked Kiara with an ultimate weapon.
Kiara pouted for a second and replied after that. "I just don't think I can have a serious relationship with anyone, I am always wrapped up in some messy situation. I can barely make time for myself let alone a fully grown human who would be in constant need of my affection. I can't be so selfish to just rush into something I know I can't hold onto."
"Oahoye!!" Chelsi made a loud sound showing how surprised she was. "You have thought so much? I mean don't take these things that seriously,"
Kiara looked at her blankly. "So you want me to find a new guy every day? Do you think my routine allows me that? I might as well wait for him to find me then." She swept her hair backward and picked up the glass of water to sip from.
