My heart was fluttering while walking through the college corridors and my palms were all sweaty out of nervousness of how the day would turn out to be. I had all sorts of questions running in my mind.
'How excited Ishaan would be to see me? Would he again offer me a ride back home? Have I been misinterpreting his friendly nature way too much?'
The wait finally ended as I stood outside the classroom, feeling anxious to get in. After adjusting my top and sniffing my clothes, I slowly stepped inside the classroom only to find it empty. I looked at the clock only to realise that I had arrived 40 minutes early for a 9:30 class. Huh! Did I tell you that crushes also have the power to bring forth the most stupid version of yourself?
I quickly hopped into the same seat that I had occupied the previous day, with my impatient eyes set on the door. Even the slightest of noise and the faintest of shadow would make my heart skip a beat. For 40 long minutes, I sat there watching people come in but there wasn't a trace of the one I had been waiting for.
At 9:30 came Sneha, sprinting towards the chair next to me. Seeing her panting badly, I offered her a bottle of water which she drank away before handing it back to me with an evil smile.
"You had a facial? Your face is glowing like there's a light bulb in there.", I asked her curiously.
"Facials don't make the face glow. Amazing sex does.", She whispered in my ears and winked.
"Oh! The rich guy or the long-distance guy?"
"The long-distance one. He's in town for a cousin's wedding."
"Great! Congratulations!
"Thanks!"
My focus shifted back to the classroom door and didn't budge for the next 6 hours. It was only during the last lecture, when the day was about to end, that I realised that Ishaan was actually on leave. Disappointed, I headed back home, still thinking about all the possible reasons why Ishaan would skip college.
'Was he sick? Did he have a family emergency? Doesn't he like attending college? Doesn't he like me?', I thought to myself.
As it was mandated by the college to have a minimum of 75% attendance, I knew that he won't be able to skip college as much. And so I slept with a hope to see him the next day.
