I slowly opened my eyes, and I saw a lot of people in front of me. 8 in total. I immediately stood up, but when I saw the man looking at me with his eyes, I sat back down and decided to look at the people except for the man that was standing in our front.
We were all circling the man in the middle who looked at me earlier. It seems like I am the only one awake. Rather, it seems like I was the first one to wake up. I decided to wait first and evaluate the situation.
I don't feel like I am kidnapped, since no one kidnaps someone in the middle of a beautiful place. Additionally, if I am kidnapped, I would be restrained, and the man should have some sort of a weapon but based on the looks of it, he has none.
Next, it seems like I have no wounds, and it feels like my strength is back to normal. I died, didn't I? Or am I just going crazy? Hmm. What in the world is happening right now? Okay. I shouldn't panic. I took a deep breath.
I again looked around and saw that everyone is now awake. It seems like I am the only one who exaggerated about the situation that I stood up without thinking about anything. Gosh, that could have ended badly.
"All right. I think everyone is now awake." The man whispered. "Good day, everyone!" The man continued with a lighthearted tone. Woah. Just now, he glared at me with those menacing eyes and now he's that lively?
No one said a thing. Everyone just looked at the man with those extremely focused, confused, and curious eyes.
"I know you all have a ton of questions in your minds, but please do not be worried. I am here to explain everything..." The man said. "You all have been chosen to live another life."
Then, there was only silence. Moments later, the girl on my left spoke to the man.
"Tell me why and how exactly I should believe you? And who are you?" The woman peacefully asked.
"Thank you for asking that question, Miss Nibria." The man said while smiling. "I know everything about you. Like you, Mister Niam Dist. I know what happened on your 7th birthday, and what happened after that." The man said to the third person on my left.
The man's eyes enlarged, shocked by what the man said.
"And you, Mr. Harold Catasty. I know you and your parents, and how talented you are." The man pointed at the third person to my right. The man was almost shocked, but then he just looked at the man.
"And you, Miss Nibria. I know about... your Aunt and Uncle." The man said with a somewhat cold voice.
I am definitely sure that this man is not a normal one. Based on the expressions of the people that the man mentioned, it seems like they have something that they are hiding something, -- except for their names, obviously -- and the man almost casually but indirectly told them.
Silence again entered. I looked at the girl and the boys that were mentioned earlier, and their face was shocked. I guess that is how I will feel if I were in their shoes.
"Moving on to your next question, "Who am I". Who am I doesn't matter in this stage of your life for now, however, if I am to introduce myself, I am Xanth, and I am a few trillion years of age." The man said, again with a cheery tone.
Trillion years? I would believe that that is a lie if it weren't for the information he spoke about earlier... Who is this man?
"Are there any more questions?" The man again smiled and looked at all of us. "Nothing? Good, let us proceed."
"As I have mentioned earlier, all of you are transported here by me and... well it doesn't matter who sent you here. What matters is all of you to adapt in this environment and live." The man explained.
"... You are not gonna say "live" if this is a safe place, right? So my question is, where are we? What is this place? And what is our purpose in here?" The person at my right talked.
"Good observation, Mister Vernon." The man smiled.
"That is right. This world is not a safe place. This world has Magic in it, which means every single thing in here has Magic, including all of you. However, that applies to other beings as well. I have sent you in this world for you to live another life. A thrilling, free and... you can say... a "fun" one."
"As to your second and third question, you are in another world. Specifically, another Galaxy. This Galaxy contains 10 Worlds, and it is called Dimensions. You are currently in the Overworld. I will not explain anything more, because the rest is all up to you in this matter."
"Last one, all of you are here because every single one of you is special." The man said. Those words somehow feel like they are, I don't know, not enough? Whatever, let's just listen to him.
"Let us proceed. I will now explain what I have given to all of you. All of you are given your own island. You all will be teleported to the said island after we finish our conversation. In that island, I have given you all a note, and everything is a secret for now since I don't want some quarrels or anything of the sort." The man explained.
"You all have different types of islands, and it all has the same size, but with different terrains and positions. The said islands are all yours, and discovering and mapping out everything is up to all of you." The man said.
Those are a lot of information to take in, especially with those Magic. As a man of science, I never believed in magic. I used to believe that magic was just a fantasy, and right now, I am living inside a fantasy world. I am starting to doubt my knowledge now.
Suddenly, a scroll appeared in front of me, a few inches in front of my face, and then it fell down. I didn't think of anything else, and I went straight into rashly picking the scroll. The moment I got my hands on the said scroll, my eyes began to blur.
I decided to ignore it, but then only 3 seconds later, everything got worse. My strength began to fade, and my head began to become dizzy. I fell to the ground, as I saw the man smiling, saying...
