There were traces of soil and shrubs that appeared to have been eroded by someone's body.
'Gosh! No! Oh Lord! Oh my God! What should I do?!!'
Tasia's face instantly turned pale white. She fell on her knees, perched on the edge of the slippery ravine.
"Hadyan! Hadyan! Can you hear me?!!" She cried frantically, hoping to get an answer even though it was only a groan from down there which indicated that the guy was still alive. But unlucky, there was no sound from there at all. Even Hadyan's figure was nowhere to be seen, just like the bottom of the ravine which couldn't be seen because of the lush plants growing along the terrain.
"Hadyan!! Oh my God!! Help! Please, somebody! Help! Hadyan!!" Her tears began to flow profusely. She panicked, confused, and scared.
"Help! Help! Help!" Tasia screamed with all her might, but there was no other sound except the birds flying back to their nests and the howling of the evening wind which was quite strong.
'Oh Lord! Where am I?! What should I do?'
Tasia realized that she was very far off the hiking trail which meant that she was lost now and she didn't know what would happen to her and Hadyan. Tasia didn't know where she was now because she was too panicked to run far from Hadyan without thinking where she was going. She didn't even realize that she was running towards the road with a ravine on its side. It was her who caused them to get lost and made Hadyan fall into the ravine.
Crack!! Srughh!
There was a faint voice from below. Her heart said the source of the voice was none other than Hadyan who was probably still alive.
'Hadyan! Ugh! What should I do?!' Her brain was spinning. Her eyes searched here and there hoping to find something she could use to save her friend.
"Hadyan! H-hold on! I will come down to help you in a minute!" She shouted down. Then, her eyes caught something very long lying on the ground near an old tree with a big trunk that grew up high. She immediately approached the long hanging root that had fallen off the tree.
The hairs on the back of her neck instantly got goosebumps when she touched the mossy root. All sorts of insects had sprung up in her mind. She even thought of the flesh-eating bacteria that lived in the forest. However, she immediately got rid of the thought away while saying a prayer and pulling root to the edge of the ravine with all her might. Tasia gasped as the root turned out to be very heavy.
"Hadyan! Don't worry! I'll come down now! Hold on!" She exclaimed as she tied the slippery root to one of the tree trunks that grew sideways on the edge of the ravine. Armed with the insights from the explorer films she usually watched, she managed to tie it even though it didn't look as strong as she had hoped.
"Oh God, please protect me. I beg you to save us." She said a prayer.
Tasia opened her eyes and threw the long root down. After taking a deep breath and mustering up the courage, Tasia held to the slippery root and slowly started to step down backwards.
The ground she stepped on turned out to be so slippery even though there were a lot of dry leaves scattered. Sweat dripping profusely and her every joint quivering. Tasia looked back to gauge whether she was going to hit a tree or a bush growing along her path. Every now and then her hands slipped and every so often she prayed for protection.
'Good grief! This ravine is endless. I almost hit the end of the root.' She began to shed tears of despair again. If she didn't manage to get down, she won't be able to go up either, because of the slippery soil and roots. Her energy had also been drained a lot after running quite far.
But finally, her smile broke out when she saw the end of the ravine, which was fortunately not a rocky terrain. While saying thanks and hope, Tasia managed to jump and landed on the ground safely. It turned out that the ravine was not as deep and steep as she thought. It's just that there were so many plants that cover the visibility from up to down here.
It felt like Tasia wanted to prostrate the gratitude because he had arrived on the flat ground. But she could only do that all after she managed to find Hadyan. Tasia looked around, looking for the figure in the blue jeans jacket and black pants. All around her were only big trees that were starting to darken as the sun was getting dimmer.
"Ha.. Hadyan!" She sobbed fearfully, hoping to get an answer. She was alone there, in the forest, lost.
"Hadyan! Where are you?" She dared herself to walk with trembling legs. If she couldn't find him, then her life would be over. All sorts of ghosts and beasts were already running around in her imagination.
"Hadyan! Where are you? Hadyan!" She cried in scare.
"Ugh!" Tasia immediately turned around in surprise by looking for the source of the voice. A glimmer of hope appeared like the sun rising from behind a mountain. It must have been the moaning sound of the man she was looking for.
"Hadyan!" Tasia exclaimed when she saw a pair of red shoes sticking out behind a tree trunk that grew at the bottom of the ravine. She immediately approached him, and sure enough, Hadyan was stuck at the bottom of the big tree trunk in a semi-conscious state.
"Hadyan! Are you okay?!" she asked frantically, trying to get the big guy down from there with all her might.
Of course, Tasia couldn't lift a man nearly twice her weight and 185centimeters tall. She had to forcibly drag the heavy body down until he lay properly on the flat ground.
"Hadyan! Hadyan! Wake up!" Tasia lightly patted the Hadyan's cheeks several times.
Hadyan groaned at the pain he felt in his back. Even though he was aware of what was going on, his human body couldn't be co-operated because he hit a tree trunk several times when he fell freely. His hands, feet, and face were also injured. Then, some parts of his clothes were torn.
"Hadyan! Wake up! You fell from a ravine. Do you remember? What should we do, now? I have to save you," Tasia was on the verge of crying again, but she held it in as best she could. Then, she took off her jacket to use it as a support for Hadyan's head.
The sun began to set. The sky turned a dark bluish orange, but around the trees, darkness was starting to blind Tasia's vision. For about thirty minutes she was guarding Hadyan, still in the same position.
"Ugh.." Hadyan tried to get up when he felt his body was getting better. His wounds healed so fast. If he was just an ordinary human, there was no way he could do that. Maybe, he at least got broken bones or internal organ injuries, or at worst, he could be dead.
Tasia quickly helped Hadyan sit down, "Hadyan? Are you okay? How are you feeling? Where does it hurt?" she asked.
Hadyan shook his head, "I'm fine, Tasia. I'm strong enough to stand up. We have to get back soon. But first, are you okay?" he checked Tasia's condition, remembering that the girl had tripped to fall when she caught Marya kissing his cheek.
Tasia shook her head, "I'm fine."
She looked at Hadyan with a sad face, "I've been screaming for help. But there's no one coming at all. We're lost, Hadyan. I'm really sorry. It's all my fault,"
"Shh.. It's okay. It's not your fault. Now, the important thing is how we get out of this place and back to camp."
"We have to go up again. Before, I used a hanging root to get down here. I tied the root to a tree and it's still hanging there. We can use it to go up to the edge again." She rushed carried Hadyan to the place where she had left the object and it was true that the root was still in the same position. "We have to climb up using this root. But it's a bit slippery. Can you do it?"
Hadyan nodded, "I'm recovering faster. Remember, I'm not a human." He let go of Tasia's carry. His body was stronger and he was no longer limping.
By watching Hadyan, Tasia put on a relieved face that said 'Right, I just remembered that fact.'
"I'll go up first. After that, I'll pull you from above." Hadyan said as grabbing the root and started to climb.
One meter, two meters, three meters, five meters and.. CRACKK!! The root-knot was released from the tree trunk and made Hadyan's body slide down again.
