Doubting Rukelion's sincerity was difficult considering both his words and how often he gazed at Daisy as if she was the most beautiful thing he had ever seen. But she had to wonder if it was solely because he was so happy to see her alive again.
She had always been insecure about her looks. Her boring eye and hair colors. Her forgettable features. Her height.
She was a lot bigger than Veronica had been. If nothing else, he would have had to get used to how that felt. He probably was at this point but getting used to something and liking it were two very different things.
"You really don't mind that I'm not as feminine or dainty? I'm almost as tall as you," Daisy pointed out.
Rukelion shrugged. "The better to steal your hoodies with."
A laugh escaped her. He did do that a lot. Hoodies and oversized sweaters or t-shirts. That was almost enough to convince her but not quite.
"You're really okay with this? I want you to be honest."
