Chapter 29 - The Swamp of Death

Li Mo half-propped himself up and looked at Leisha's impatient face. He said softly, "I have a name. It's Li Mo. How would I know you're talking to me if you don't call me by my name?"

Leisha was furious after hearing that. However, she could not attack Li Mo, so she gritted her teeth and swallowed her anger.

Rancho immediately said, "It's getting late. We'd better get past this poisonous fog before dark."

After saying that, he turned around and continued to move forward. Leisha snorted and quickly followed Rancho's footsteps.

This was the first time Li Mo stepped out of Dragon Kingdom since he transmigrated. Although the forest surrounded by poisonous fog was still considered the territory of the Dragon Kingdom, everything was very different after leaving the Dragon Palace.

The stone that he had just rested on was definitely not an ordinary stone.

The forest was eerily gloomy, and the temperature was even lower than in the Dragon Palace. However, the rock seemed to have a life of its own, as he lay on top of it, his entire body wrapped in warmth.

After lying on the stone for more than ten minutes, he felt less fatigue. Instead, he felt completely refreshed.

Weak sunlight enveloped this strange forest.

The entire forest was so quiet that it was as if every creature was living in fear. All of a sudden, there were figures of all kinds of magical beasts and creepy cries, giving people the illusion that they were in hell.

Everything looked so unusual, from the tall strange plants to the colorful unknown insects.

Probably because they were close to the Boluo Sea, the forest was filled with rare herbs that Li Mo had never seen before. Many of the plants were about the same height as him. Among the dense green leaves, there were all kinds of colorful fruits.

He saw a cluster of purple fruits in the shape of a strawberry, Li Mo could not help but reach out to try to pick it.

"Hey! Do you want to die? !"

Leisha's sudden scream scared Li Mo so much that he shivered, and his lower body almost fell forward.

"Do you know what this is?" Leisha asked the stunned Li Mo in exasperation.

"Isn't it just an ordinary fruit?"

"Hmph! It's a fruit that has absorbed the poisonous fog. Even the people of the Dragon Kingdom would stay away from this kind of poisonous fruit."

Hearing Leisha's words, Li Mo swallowed his saliva silently and retracted his hand.

As expected, all beautiful things were poisonous!

Rancho went forward and said seriously, "Every living thing in this forest has grown by absorbing the poisonous fog. You'd better not touch them."

Li Mo nodded slightly and continued to walk forward with the two of them.

On the way, Li Mo did not touch the novel flowers and plants, but he was like a curious baby. Every few steps, he would stop and ask the two of them, "Sigh! What is this plant that looks like a pineapple? Why are the thorns on its skin so sharp?"

"That's a Dextrous Fruit. The flesh of the fruit can increase magic power, but the outer shell is highly poisonous."

"What about this flower? It looks pink and tender, like a Hydrangea!"

"That pollen is poisonous."

"Why is everything poisonous? Sigh! I know this, it's a man-eating flower!"

Faced with Li Mo's endless questions, Rancho patiently answered each of them in the beginning.

However, Leisha could not hold it in any longer. She stopped in her tracks and looked at Li Mo, saying solemnly, "We're not here for sightseeing."

Rancho whispered into Leisha's ear, "Although he's a prince of the Sacred Ocean Kingdom, he's not pure-blooded, he's an illegitimate child. I'm sure he hasn't been outside since he was young."

Rancho learned about Li Mo from Melia.

Upon hearing Rancho's words, Leisha cast a disdainful glance at Li Mo, cursing in her heart!

So this fellow was not only a lowly slave, but also an illegitimate child?

The silence between the three of them lasted less than half an hour when a loud cry came from mid-air.

Li Mo raised his head and saw a huge bird covered in raging flames spreading its wings and flying past.

Rancho and Leisha quickly crouched down and held their breaths as they watched the Firebird circling in the air. Seeing that Li Mo was standing straight like a pillar, Rancho quickly crawled towards him and pulled him down with force, pulling him to the ground.

The intense pain on his arm made Li Mo recover from his shock.

"Shh..."

Just as he was about to speak, Rancho covered his mouth.

After the Firebird flew away, they stood up. Leisha rushed forward with a red face and roared, "Do you know how powerful the Fire Phoenix's attack is? If we were discovered by it just now, it would be difficult to deal with."

Li Mo did not understand and muttered in a low voice, "Aren't you all Dragon Warriors? You can't even deal with a bird?"

"You..." Leisha clenched her fist after hearing that. Rancho stepped forward and gently patted her shoulder.

"If we were to fight with the Fire Phoenix just now, there would be a loud noise. If the other magical beasts heard the loud noise and came here, we would have to spend a lot of effort to leave the forest."

Li Mo suddenly understood. Although this forest was very interesting, what Rancho said made sense. Safety was the most important thing. Even if he did not like the two of them following him, he still had to avoid complications.

Li Mo became relatively well-behaved after. Rancho wanted to prevent him from causing any more trouble, so sometimes he would take the initiative to give some information about magical beasts to Li Mo, like the wind-controlling divine eagle, the two-headed chimera, the manticore, the nightmare beast…

These fierce-looking magical beasts made Li Mo stop playing around. A fatal sense of oppression and a dangerous aura filled his senses.

The further they went, the more sticky Li Mo felt under his feet. He looked down and saw that his shoes were already stained with wet soil.

Rancho explained, "The swamp of death is ahead. Let's drink some water first. After crossing the swamp ahead, we would have left this forest."

The air was mixed with the warm smell of the swamp. The air suddenly became stuffy and hot.

Leisha took a sip of water and said softly, "I hope we won't see the serrated crocodiles!"

The serrated crocodiles were huge and earth-dwelling magical beasts. They lived in the swamps all year round. Although their movements were slow, they were extremely powerful, especially when grouped together.

Rancho and Leisha were naturally not afraid of these magical beasts, but they still had Li Mo to protect. If they really met a group of serrated crocodiles, they might not be able to divert their attention to protect Li Mo.

After the three of them rested for a while, they stepped on the wet soil and continued to move forward.

After passing through a small path, hot air assaulted their faces. Looking at the pitch-black swamp in front of them, it was as if there were countless eyes staring at them, revealing an ugly smile to welcome them.

Rancho suddenly stretched out his hand to stop the three of them from moving forward. He squinted as he stared at the center of the swamp.

Soon, a pair of green eyes rose from the swamp and stared at the three people on the side.

Gradually, the entire swamp began to move. Pairs of strange green eyes rose. Rancho and the other two slowly retreated while Leisha cursed in a low voice.

"F * ck! We really ran into them!"
