Chapter 26 - He Said...I Am Just Pretending To Be Sick!

Furthermore, Lu Yunsheng might lend his aid once in a blue moon but he wouldn't do more than that.

"Hehe, Grandpa, cool down!" Jeong Namjoon forced out a not so humorous laugh to ease out the tension, then reassured his grandfather, "I will hardly say anything to bro Sheng! After all, for me, you come first!"

Humph!

Lu Heitin figured that he already pricked the balloon out of his grandson, thus, simmered down from his agitated state. However, on the surface, he snickered before saying, "You are not getting younger as well! When are you tying the knot, and procreating children? You are doing nothing good, but wasting your youth in front of those cameras!"

"First thing, how much attention I receive from the public directly correlates to how much money I am making. Thus, being in front of the cameras for a long time is actually a blessing for me. And second, I can give you a couple of great grandchildren to play with, however, marriage isn't essential for that. I mean, I can make babies without marriage as well." Jeong Namjoon blurted his heart out without much thinking.

"How outrageous!"

Lu Heitin fiercely clutched his walking stick with one hand, glared daggers at Jeong Namjoon.

The Oldman balled his other hand into a so tight grip that the veins on the back of his hand were bursting. There was metaphorical fire in his eyes like he was staring at the face of his nemesis

Jeong Namjoon got so afraid that he hiccuped suddenly. However, he decided to pluck up some courage and modernize his Grandpa since the opportunity presented itself.

"Grandpa, it's twenty-twenty one! Upgrade yourself. Marriage is nothing but a piece of paper. Living together with someone you like is absolutely fine, with or without that paper."

Lu Heitin grounded his teeth in anger. The more he heard Jeong Namjoon, the angrier he got.

"Our established principles can't be so easily toppled! Your generation might not abide by the culture, but we, the traditionalists, do mind this open lifestyle a lot!" Lu Heitin offered as a retort. His face was gloomy, bearing a hint of malice.

Jeong Namjoon also stood firmly on his ground, and refuted with a serious expression, "Well, Human's thoughts and mentality evolve with years. What your generation thinks is correct may not necessarily be agreed upon by ours."

Lu Heitin knew arguing with Jeong Namjoon was equal to pulling out all the stops of clearing out an ocean, removing water from it drop by drop. Thus, he changed his plan.

"Do you dare to indulge me in a bet?" Lu Heitin asked with a smirk. The Oldman, in his gracious mood, decided to play a little with this immature grandson of his.

"What sort of bet?" Jeong Namjoon asked, a little confused. Nonetheless, his interest was piqued.

"Whose acting skills is better, yours or mine?" Lu Heitin said, beaming with confidence.

"Of course mine. Is this even a question!" Jeong Namjoon said confidently, tooting his own horn.

"Yours?" Lu Heitin asked, "Then you better open your eyes because right this moment, I'm going to show you-such a huge delusion you are living under!"

Lu Heitin felt smug in his declaration. After all, he had Mu Jiaying behind his back. She was extremely mawkish, when it came to him and his wife. His daughter-in-law would literally fight against anyone, if that person dared to say a word of disrespect to him.

"What have you just said, I'm putting on an act to be sick?!"

All of a sudden, Lu Heitin roared at top of his lungs, catching Jeong Namjoon off-guard.

His voice was vigorous and powerful as he slammed his walking stick on the ground forcefully, "Are you accusing me of play-acting to be sick!"

The few servants who were working close-by gathered around the door instantly.

Just then, Jeong Namjoon heard a familiar voice behind him, "What is happening here?" It was his uncle, Lu Donghai, who seemed to have come from the outside just then. He rushed to the front of the crowd, his eyes glued to his father and nephew.

"Why did father yell suddenly?" Mu Jiaying asked anxiously, as soon as she sprinted inside the room, followed by Chui Kaili.

At once, all ten pairs of eyes looked in Lu Heitin's direction.

"Jeong Namjoon just said that-" Lu Heitin paused intentionally to increase the suspense, and tilted his head at the white ceiling with closed eyes. With his both hands clutching onto the walking stick, as he supported himself against it, the oldman looked very frangible.

"What did Namjoon say, father? Why are you looking so sad?" Mu Jiaying asked the question which had been bothering all the people in the room.

"He said...I am just pretending to be sick," Lu Heitin replied weakly.

The Old Master's action was slow, yet, just at point. Once he inculcated Jeong Namjoon, everyone turned to look at the latter with astonishment in their eyes.

The best expression was on Jeong Namjoon's face who stood frozen in his position. He was still holding the piece of dark chocolate bar that he was eating earlier, looking at Lu Heitin with widened eyes and dropped jaw.

How did the table turn? How come he became the accused now? Jeong Namjoon noticed everyone's gaze on him, and their unspoken solidarity agitated him all the more.

"Namjoon, why did you say such a thing?" Lu Donghai interrogated with a stern tone of voice, his face locked into a frown.

"I didn't expect this from him," Mu Jiaying said with disappointment creeping into her voice.

Lu Donghai was no longer calm. He went towards Lu Heitin, supported him, and said, "What's wrong with this generation? They are hell bent on misbehaving with the elders."

When Lu Donghai said this, he included his own son as well.

Jeong Namjoon couldn't stand the Oldman's smug face anymore, thus, fired-back with a forced levity in his voice, "I'm not lying, grandpa isn't sick; and he admitted it himself before everyone entered here. He bribed those doctors, and did the entire act just to force brother Sheng into this marriage."
