She raced through the woods trees slashing at her fragile skin running from the monster that chased her. In her flight she hardly noticed the gaping wound that would be her downfall. Her broken leg gave out and the creature pounced tearing a wound up her side. He then left her for dead in a manner so unusual for a wolf. A wolf kills to eat but this beast was not a wolf at all, was he. As her eyes fluttered closed she heard something crash and pain rise from the back of her head fading quickly as she opened her eyes. Registering the dingy hotel room as she sat up on the ground her memories or what memories she had of the past few days came back to her. She gaged and ran to the bathroom to wash out her mouth, but not even soap could wash the taste of blood from her lips. The wolf tamer they called her what a joke. Images from that night flickered through her head. Seeing through the eyes of the beast that lived within her feeling her wolf teach tear through flesh, she shuddered. The pack turned in on itself no she couldn't think about that now. Think about what comes next where to go from here. With no job and barely enough money to get her through a week she had to do something.
" Katerina get a hold of yourself" she whispered into the mirror " weeping will only lead to more misery when your wallet runs out of cash. You need to make some money and then move on before they send someone to come find you." And as she wandered back into the bedroom her hand rested on the beaten up desk phone on the side table. Should she call them her family or her friends who she had worked with but she knew she couldn't. Because if she called them then they would find her. Instead she slipped the stolen wallet into her back pocket and headed into the Village. She wandered round for a few days asking about job postings but without any sort of identification and using a fake name there wasn't much luck. On the third night she was there she found an young woman being harassed by some boys in a secluded alleyway. After breaking one of their noses and chasing them off young woman took her into a small café and got a job for her there with the elderly aunt and uncle who ran the shop.
